May 2011 Check In-And May Has Arrived!!!!

Just made ressies at HOJO for May 5th - 10th. This is getting to be our annual spring trip followed by the fall trip in October to WDW. Actually we are starting the trip in San Francisco then down to Anaheim and finishing in Vegas.

We did the same thing! We will be there the same week as you :)

Great minds think alike! Hehe!! I just enjoy DL more with fewer crowds and I always come back so I don't worry about what's "down!"

May 29th-June4th
have reservations for the Ramada Maingate, but may switch if a better deal comes along (avg $95/night +tax)

I will be at DL on May 27 to 29 so I can watch my middle school band perform at the Carnation Plaza Gardens. I am very excited to see my middle school perform at the CPG at DL.

I wil be staying at BWPPI which is my usual hotel where I stay during my trip

You are kidding yourself if you think that you are not going to be standing in long lines. There are 1 million AP holders and they are all going to want to go when you are there. 2 reasons... Star and Tours! It's going to reopen on the 10th. It should draw some decent crowds.

:cool1: I had no idea ST was schedule to reopen on the 10th, where did you find this info? Is it official? Our boys will be thrilled, it's one of their favorites!!

Star and Tours! It's going to reopen on the 10th. It should draw some decent crowds. Also little mermaid should be opening in May sometime too but that is still a crap shoot. Now, while you are there, it is still considered the off season, so while there may be fewer crowds, the lines will still be long, why? Because in the off season they don't staff the rides at full capacity. They may only open one side of the Matterhorn, they may only run one elevator in haunted mansion, one ramp of boats in small world, and maybe only 2 lanes of cars in autopia etc.. etc.. Not to mention refurbs happen in the off season so rides will be down, I think Splash will still be down when you are there. You should check out these to articles by Hydroguy to get a better understanding of what to expect:

We arrive the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, but since that's the beginning of the summer season everything should be running at full steam so it shouldn't be too bad. We expect crowds, but if it gets crazy well just head back to the hotel and hang out in the pool. Infact, I plan on reserving a cabanna for the weekend so I can watch the Indy 500 while the kiddos swim.

Have Fun!

Sorry, been small kine MIA!

You are absolutely right -- "off season" = less available. But I thought I was doing the right thing by following our pattern (hey, it's only a two year pattern, but still haha) of May and Sept/Oct/Nov. We have done either WDW or DLR during those months, and despite knowing that they are two totally different places, it has worked for us. I am super bummed that Splash will be closed (that was the boys' favorite ride the first time to Disney), but had no idea about the ST reopening. I also was hoping for Little Mermaid, but am not holding my breath for either that or Goofy's Sky School. I have been super focused on telling them to eat their "growing food" cuz I want my barely five-year-olds to be 48" so they can go on Screamin' haha. They should be able to make it, but I'm just making sure!

I am also going to a UCLA training that miraculously coincided with our trip (which then becomes a "business trip"). It is a huge benefit to be able to for myself. But hey....maybe we will crash your cabana party instead!

I think the opening date is still in limbo becuase of the possible POTC4 premier in early to mid-May. Once they confirm that date, they will be able to confirm both ST and LM openings. -- Suzanne

5/12, 5/19, 5/26, the last 3 Thursdays of the month.

If you are going to be there then plan accordingly DL closes early on these days.

For some information on Grad Nights see these threads.

We arrive early evening on the 12 and depart on the 19. We will miss those nights, but be there smack dap in the middle of the POTC4 premiere! Oh well, can't win them all :rotfl:

You might consider putting the informations on the dates and that link on the first post so more people see it.

Main thing is during May the parks aren't ramped up to long hours so really you don't miss anything. But if you stay around DL you might get woke up by 15 minutes of fireworks.

We will be there from 5/8 to 5/16 at the HOJO.

Suprise trip for our kids. We are not saying anything till we load them up in the car to head to the airport!!!

Bumping for all those that are going in May so they can get added to our list!! :dance3:

May 28-June 2
Staying at Residence Inn , our home away from home!
Also visiting Adventure City in Orange County!

I had no idea we'd be there right after the POTC premiere! We're going to have to find POTC4 shirts for the whole family!

Currently May 15-17 at Marriott Fairfield Inn with DBF + DS4 for a "use our APs one more time before they expire" trip. But will be keeping an eye on PPH AP rates since I've never stayed onsite other than VGC.

May 8-12 and at Park Vue.
First trip for the family DDs will be 4 and 2 (almost 3). Part of our 3 week long trip! :)

Only 61 more days till May!!!!!:dance3:

Let us know if you are going. We would love to be on the look out for fellow DIS members!

We are going May 12-15 for 3 days at Disneyland and will be staying at the Carousel Inn. We are not telling our boys till the day before we go. They are going to be so happy and surprised! We told them that we just could not afford to go so we have no Disney trip in the planning. Usually we have something in the works even if it is a long time away! :woohoo: I cant wait to go!!!!! yeah!:yay:
