May 2008 code watch

Can you book now at the rack rate and then keep calling as the date arrives to take advantage of the best deal or latest code - or do you have to re-book and hope there are still rooms available etc,.

Book now, then call to see if discounts are available later.
Know that only certain hotels give a discount.
Example..." AP room only" discounts in Oct: POFQ gave NO discount, POR did as well as CR.
Other discounts are for packages, Chase CC, AAA. Once the discounts come out..you can choose.

For those who are not getting emails.... i couldnt figure out why i didnt get the email that my dvd was on the way, like others received. So today, i checked my acct on Disney, and for some reason my preferences for receiving emails was turned off!!! :headache: So anyway, i fixed it... but yall may want to check to make sure yours has a check mark by "I'd like to receive occasional updates, special offers, and other information from The Walt Disney family of companies about their products and services."

Which makes me think that they expect that last week in May to be crazy busy. I hope I get another offer...something small would be nice, even a dining plan discount. We'll see!

I requested my dvd yesterday - maybe I'll get a pin??? We are going May 15-24. Would those dates be valid? Thanks for any help!

Hi there!

I am sorry for being confused here! but what does CODE mean. What code are you looking for, I am going May 3rd to May 12th.

I got my first code!! It's for a value, though, and we've already booked at the Poly. It says if we change our dates (or go again at a later date), we can get 30% off, but I'm not sure if it's 30% off a value or 30% off anything. I'll have to do some research.

Call and ask if you can apply the code to your reservation. Do not mention value. When the disney visa codes come out the advertisment only says value, I called and it was applied to my GF res and saved $500. Call and ask!

It doesn't cover the dates we're going in May, but I've been browsing the boards and think it would be super fun to go during Sept./Oct. There are some fall dates included in the code. Does anyone know off the top of your head what the bounceback deal is like? Would it be cheaper do use a 30% off ocde or book bounceback?

P.S. We got this code after ordering the 2008 DVD.

Were thinking of changing our dates from may 21st/June1 to May1-11th:cool1
because UG has the crowd level being much lower in the beginning of May.I still have to talk to DD teacher who is out till the 6th of february and find out if its ok for her to miss 7 days of school. We took her out the first wk of this school yr already. She's in first grade and does well. I know that she won't tell me no but if she doesn't recommend it will have to wait till the end of may when school is over.

I have the Disney VIsa too, but don't recall getting any kind of code. How and when did you get this? I'm wondering if I automatically threw it out b/c it said value on it and where are staying at the Poly May 2- 10th.

Thank you.

In May 2006 I went to WDW with 2 adult friends for my birthday. We went 5/1 to 5/4. The crowds were very managable and the temps were in the low 90's. Two weeks later I took my oldest DD for her 7th birthday May 19 to 23rd. It was more crowded and HOT!!! On one day it was 103.:scared1: We still had a great time but early May was better. May 23rd was the Tuesday before Labor Day.

My DD was in the first grade. She had already missed 6 days of school for our trip in October 05. I asked her teacher about her missing another 3 days of school and she said to do it. We don't get out of school around here til late June so I don't know if that would make a difference. Good Luck!!

I went last year May 6 to 13 and the crowds weren't bad. I've got May 4 to 10 booked for this year.

I called and inquired about this promotion. I was told not everybody gets the same promotion at the same time. People are offered different promotions. I said I have never got any promotion and want one. They told me it is run by their marketing dept and out of their control. I have had my card for less than a year so lets see what happens.

The 40% off code some people are getting is a post card and good for value season dates. The Disney Visa codes are separate usually come out between Jan and March.

Mousesavers.com has a history of discounts (but I can't find it right now).

OK, I called today, mentioned nothing about the email, just gave the the code (30% off). The CM said it was a year round code that could be applied to my Deluxe Resort. When she entered it, it said that it was not a year round code and had the entire summer (April 13-August something) blacked out. :headache: We would have saved more than $1000!!!!
She tried it on my existing reservation and a room only just to make sure it wasn't because we have the MYW package. It wasn't.
Anyway...if you have the 30% code, hang onto it because although it may mention Value Resorts, it would have been applicable to our resort had the dates been different. Good luck!!:thumbsup2

I'm hoping that we can go the first wk in may. I have to wait until Feb 6th to talk to my DD teacher. There is good airfare out today I'm just not sure about our dates yet:scared1: I can't wait till I have our room and airfare booked.Than the real planning can begin. What resort our you booked at?

To those who are intrested in mousesavers info on past discounts if you go and enter historic infomation in their search it will pull up past discounts from 2004-2008.
Last yr at this time they already offered some general public discounts for may but some were not released until around February 20th so there MAY be some discounts yet to come.
IMHO it seems like they are sending out more personal pins and codes this yr compared to last so who knows which may lessen the general codes:confused3

I was just thinking about you this morning. I remembered that when I went in 2006 the schools in FL were getting out earlier and I think they may have gotten out of school on May 20th. I don't know when they get out this year but it is at least a week or 2 later.

I am going to take just my youngest DD(5) to Pop Century. One trip a year is more than enough for my DH but not me (or the kids) so we do one family trip a year and then I take trips with my kids one on one. I was at Pop in January for my DS's 7th birthday. He missed a week of first grade. We had a great time. This will my youngest's first "mommy & me" trip.

DH called today to pay our deposit for Mem Day Wknd --- He inquired about AP discount and was told there aren't any now .... but they are coming out next month, so we can just ammend the ressie. That's the 2nd CM that has told him codes will come out next month! :thumbsup2

If you read the previous poster's comment about them being released Feb. 20th last year, we're right on schedule! :cool1:

Come on codes!!! :surfweb:

i live in Florida; Florida schools finish up the first week of June, like the 5th or 6th. (my brothers a teacher, i already asked him) :woohoo:

Just hung up with a CM. I asked to see if there was a code attached to my name, no there was not. He told me to keep calling back because they get added weekly. He did look up my reservation, which is in May, and he said that the email codes and flier codes are not for that month. I asked if he thought that there would be a discount offered for that month (May) and he said yes. He told me to keep calling and keep my eyes on whatever Disney websites I log-on to.

Come on May, come on May . . . ::surfweb:
We're going May 11-17th and would love a good AP rate (have already given up hope of receiving a 30-40% off postcard for our dates or there being a general public code offered).
Good luck fellow May WDW travelers, it really is a nice time to go.:wizard:

We changes our dates to May 2nd to the 10th. So, I will be 3 months from tomorrow. I can't wait.
