May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

So, Brenda, where in AK were you located? I was a military wife and spent 2 years in Ketchikan, where my daughter was born, and then 2 years on Kodiak, back in the 80s. It was an educational experience, living in a place I never even dreamed of visiting. The mountains were breathtaking, I loved the snow in the winter, and got a kick out of reading the paper on the front porch at 10:30 on a summer night without turning on the light. I learned to crack crab, eat bear stew and deer tacos, and had trouble convincing my family back home that I did NOT live in an igloo. :rotfl: And the bald eagles.....the stars at night....AWESOME!!

And in another 5 weeks and 2 days, we'll be smelling the saltwater again!! I can't wait

One more night in this Alabama Hotel Room. :woohoo:

I think people are affected by the motion about an hour and a half after the ship sets sail (around 6:30pm). Sober people walk around like they are drunk - bouncing from side to side. LOL. The Dramamine (or other medicine) should be taken according to the directions. For me, I apply the patch about 11:30am. Don't forget to drink plenty of water. If you are concerned as I am about getting seasick, take it easy with the food and alcohol the first nite. There will be plenty of food available the next 6 nites. And finally, consider those ginger tablets; they're supposed to be good for you anyhow.:cool2:

Lol!!! Here we go again....time for me to worry, worry, worry!!!!!:scared1::scared1:

zerog if you have been on the DIS for a long time, what does that make me?

Hi Dave.. I think you are talking about our ages. :lmao:

But just in case - whether you been on this roll call as long as Laura (December 2007) or if you joined us last week, we're all one big happy family. Like someone said, the more the merrier. I'm just glad we have people here that can share the excitement. :yay:

No worries Laura. :wizard: That's why I posted - to remind everyone (who is concerned about motion sickness) to consider taking a few precautions. Plan for the worst and hope for the best - that'll be my strategy. ;)

pirate: A friend here in St. Lou that went on a Disney cruise last year is going to loan me a pirate costume for pirate night! pirate:

For those of you who want to "prepare," check out the Talk Like A Pirate Day Web site. it is at

Thanks. Is anyone doing the Cozumel Xcaret Echo Park excursion? My family is. I was wondering if it is true that I need to bring special suntan lotion.

Ahoy Spencer... Well shiver me timbers... You've got the spirit! pirate:

I've got a pirate costume that I have yet to try on. My DW is being a spoiled sport and won't wear hers. We plan to dress up the kids, as we have the last 2 cruises. pirate:

I was on the DCL site this morning to fill out our boarding forms but need some help:confused3. It asks if you are parked at the port...no, our car will be at the Radisson (we are staying there on May 1and using their shuttle), then it asks where you will be going after...back to the hotel...and then the US. address we will be staying at. My question is, should I just put down the address of the Radisson even though we will be heading home after we pick up the car. I don't want to put down the incorrect info:scared:. I'm sure someone will be able to guide me in the right direction.:worship:

I think the only reason they ask for an address is to ensure transportation from the port. Either address would be okay, I would think. If your still feeling unsure, try calling the DCL customer service center, they've been VERY helpful with me (and trust me, I've called more than once!:lmao:)
Good luck! :)

zerog, silly me was thinking time on the DIS, not on this thread. :rolleyes1

I agree, we are all getting excited.

I am VERY susceptible to motion sickness. I get car sick often and can't handle most roller coasters or carnival rides. With that said, I took plenty of dramamine on both of our cruises and had no problems at all with sea sickness. Just make sure you take something the night before or morning of embarkation to make sure it is in your system. I have heard that if you wait until you start feeling sick, it may be too late.

Thanks for the info. I will give them a call.

Yes, you have to bring 100% biodegradable sunscreen for Xcaret. They require it because the chemicals found in most regular sunscreens are harmful to the delicate coral reefs in the area. I believe you can only buy it online or at specialty health stores. I am going to try Whole Foods this weekend to see if I can find any because we plan on visiting XCaret as well. I have no idea how they know what you bring in, I am assuming they search your bags?? I have also read that this is a regional law and is not just limited to the park so check ahead if you are planning on doing any snorkeling in Mexico.

We don't have either of those booked, but it is true, the excitement is truly starting to build.

I hope that everyone likes the bracelets, I will take a pic and post it asap. They are green with white lettering, the neon green ended up being see through so they are a regular green, but still nice!! :goodvibes

Are you going to mail them to us? Is that the plan?

Are you going to mail them to us? Is that the plan?

Yes I am going to mail them, I am going to head over to the states and mail them next week, the Canadian ones will be mailed by Monday. I believe that you have already given me your address, correct me if I am wrong. If you haven't, please pm me.

Sorry, I have just been very overwhelmed this past couple of weeks, trying to get as much done on our reno. As of April 1st, I am putting the paint brush down and concentrating on our vacation!!
