May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

Hi all!

Sorry I've been a stranger! Tax season is almost to an end, which means I'm working 7 days a week now:surfweb:. It's okay though, because we are leaving in 33 DAYS!!!!! (we are flying in a day early) Laura, your flowers are beautiful! I just noticed this morning that my day lillies are starting to pop up.

My hubby is finally getting excited about the cruise, and we may end up joining you all at the cruise meet after all. We don't have our passports yet, but I'm expecting them to take another 2 weeks.

Is anyone else staying at the Hyatt the night before the cruise? I just got an email from them with a 20% off code. I think anyone can use it. It saved me $40:cool1: So if anyone wants it, I can probably post it here or email you the link.

One more thing.....the disadvantage of category 12....I don't have a room number yet! The suspense is killing me! I noticed the April 25th people started getting room assignments a week ago yesterday. Hopefully soon then!

Well, back to taxes.....17 more days and I'm done!!!

Michelle

Hi.

I got our cabin number, #2577 for the FE group. We are glad it is close to the middle of the ship as I am prone to motion sickness. Fortunately, I have not had any problems with sickness on the short Disney cruises. I am hoping that holds true for the 7 day.

Hi Michelle
Welcome back. Those 33 days will go by real fast, especially as busy as you are. Perhaps you can help us reach the 100 page challenge.

We purchased CAT 12 GTY's the first two cruises. If I remember correctly, DCL will assign your room at 30 days. You should be hearing something very soon. We were assigned a Cat 9 on our 3-nite cruise and a Cat 10 for the 7-niter. A window (or veranda) would have been nice, but we didn't spend much time in the room (except to shower and sleep). Our family of 4 did just fine with our Cat 10 inside room, and had a great cruise. :thumbsup2

Another thing that happens around 30 days - some of you will start receiving your official paperwork from DCL. This includes your luggage labels. :yay:

Michelle (MJLEWIS23) I would love the coupon code for the Hyatt. We are staying there too. Many thanks for thinking of us.

That is awesome that you are back!!! WOOHOO!!!! Thanks so much for sharing the code! Glad to hear too that you will be at the mini-meet. The meet really won't take up a lot of time, it is just a chance to say hi to everyone that has been chatting for the last well...........year and a half...:lmao::lmao: Whoever would like to hang out a little longer can and those that need to get a move on...can. Then we can keep an eye out for eachother over the length of the cruise. As it sounds, there are a lot of us doing the same excursions so it will be nice to meet up ahead of time!

Can't wait!!!

AKcruiser,

I pm'd you but have yet to hear from you via email. Not sure if you received my message!

Laura,

Yes, I received your PM. I had to go to urgent care this morning and am not feeling well today. I will email you soon. Thanks for check up with me!!

* PIN TRADING - WARNING: THIS CAN BE HABIT FORMING * :upsidedow

What have I done!? Last cruise we bought our DS a lanyard with some 'starter' Disney pins. He also picked out a couple of nice pins from the store. And off he went to trade. Wouldn't you know, he traded some of the expensive pins for some cheap little pins from a CM. Having no value of money, we had to step in and put a ban on him from trading certain pins.

Now my DD has been introduced to pin trading. She really likes walking up to CM's at the parks to see if they are wearing any pins she likes. Funny, she will trade for a pin, and trade that pin for another, etc. and you don't know what she will end up with by the end of the day. LOL - maybe she gets bored with a pin after a few hours; or, she just enjoys trading.

Whoever came up with this pin trading concept discovered a gold mine. Anyhow, I just purchased 60 pins on Ebay for $1.62 each. They arrived today. The pins are common and simple, but I would rather the kids trade these than the ones that cost over $15. I plan to bring them on the cruise. I think DW and myself are actually going to participate. We are not in it to make money or to collect 'rare' pins, but it is fun. I would like to recommend this 'hobby' but be forewarned it IS habit forming.

Guilty as charged :guilty: Boy, can I relate. What started out a few years ago with a couple of pins has turned into... I don't know... a few dozen or so:rolleyes1.
I too, have bought some pins off of Ebay :surfweb: to use as traders. It's alot cheaper that way. I do know what you mean about the thrill of the hunt and the fun of the trade.:rotfl2:

Hmmmm...I am going to have to look at Ebay, I too have quite a nice little collection of pins, but I don't ever want to part with them. Isn't there something specific you have to watch for on Ebay to make sure they are actually acceptable trading pins?

Boy is the board busy this weekend!!:banana::banana:
It's hard to believe we leave in just a little over a month! I don't really have anything to contribute today, except this post will move us a tad closer to page 100!:woohoo:
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!:thumbsup2
Amy

I am so excited! DCL cruise #2! Finally taking the two little ones! Child #4 is potty trained!! Cannot wait to see everyone! Need some help getting into the swing of things.
*
Also, is there anyone who is graphic design guru who can help me with magnets for my door???

UGH....so I feel like such an idiot now....I booked the cheaper rate at Hyatt.com, and didn't realize I can't use the gift cert.'s that I've been saving up for the trip. $150 worth:sad2: So much for trying to be selfish...
So....I saved $40, but it cost me $110!!! Oh well, live and learn, right?

P.S. Anyone interested in gift cert's for the Hyatt, PM me....I'll give you a great deal:-)

Traveling with DH,DD 10 yo, and three DS 9 yo, 4 yo and 3 yo. I think I did this right!;) My DD and 4 yo DS will be celebrating birthdays on the cruise, May 14 and May 27 so we will be partying a little early. DH and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary; we went on our first DCL honeymoon six years ago.

I will stop posting once I get the hang of this.....just keep sharing advice for me!:goodvibes

Hey Laura
Here is the 'official' guide posted by Disney:

Disney Pin Trading Etiquette
• Have Fun! Disney Pin Trading can be a great way to interact with and meet Cast Members and other Guests.
• The main criteria to judge whether a pin is trade-able or not is that it must be a metal pin that represents a Disney Event, Location, Character or Icon. Some pins from our Operating Participants are also trade-able, but must represent the Operating Participant in a way that has a specific Disneyland®Resort or Walt Disney World®Resort affiliation.
• Pins should in good, undamaged condition.
• Trade one pin at a time, hand to hand, with the backs attached.
• Guests may trade a maximum of two pins with each Cast Member.
• Guests may trade only one pin of the same style with a Cast Member.
• When trading with Cast Members, Guests should offer a pin that is not already displayed on the Cast Member's lanyard.
• Please refrain from touching another person's pins or lanyard. If you need a closer look, ask the person wearing the lanyard if they can bring it into clearer view for you.
• Disney name pins may not be traded with Cast Members.
• Monies or gifts may not be exchanged or used in trade for a pin.
• In addition to the 12 pins on Cast lanyards, some Cast Members may wear a "Showcase" pin. These "Showcase" pins are for demonstrations to our Guests and are not available for trade.

There was a lady who made the designs for door magnets, but I think she got overwhelmed with requests. Check the main boards - there are a lot of suggestions for making your own. There may be someone who will design one for you but I don't know.
