May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

Welcome hdpals. I don't mind not being the rookie anymore...besides you seem to be a wealth of info. Would you or anyone know which night is the formal night and the semi-formal so I can try to book Palo's for those nights.

Thanks
Audrey

If you are unable to reserve the date/time from home online, remember that once you board, you can try onboard to reserve Palo; the cruiseline does not make ALL the time slots available initially.

Also, side note...don't know if anyone else agrees...but I think the BRUNCH at Palo is amazing, even better than dinner.

We did the aquaboat/snorkel last Fall. It rained but we still went (would have been better if no rain). Two people board a rigid inflatable mini-speed boat thing. You'll get to speed around part of the coast and then you tie up at an anchor point and snorkel. Guides bring bread/food for fish so you get to see tons of fish. Then you speed around some more and get to snorkel over the wreck of an old steamership. It was a good excursion only downside was the rain. But we like it cause combination of speed around on little boat and snorkel. We still had time to walk the downtown area and shop afterward too; good combo of actionsport (boat) and snorkel with time for shopping -- both wife and I enjoyed.

We haven't done the cooking one yet (have that booked for this cruise) but I know the location (playa mia) cause we were there last time. It is a really nice beach with tons and tons of activities for entire family. Beach site has sports, watersports, lounge cars, beverages, etc. I think the cooking class takes place under a huge catering pavillion.

Hope that helps.

Can you believe that after 2 cruises, we still haven't attended the Palo Brunch. :confused3 I wasn't going to make that mistake 3x! :thumbsup2 I've heard it is wonderful and am really looking forward to it.

Oh...PALO BRUNCH:hyper: For all, if you can, don't miss it. I think only offered on 7night cruise or longer. You get complimentary mimosa to start. Bruch is buffet style with seafood, cheeses, amazing pastry, made to order pizzas (the best is bluecheese and grape, trust me), then choice of entree. Finish it all off with with a dessert buffet of tiramasu, pastry, mousse, etc.

I strongly recommend the Stolen (cinnamon bread thing with whipped cream) the grape/bluecheese pizza, and if they have it the chicken parm entree or open-faced omlette:thumbsup2

Hey! We are going to book that excursion also, the Mexican cooking class. Just need to wait til next weekend to book, hopefully it isn't all booked up.

Thanks for letting me know about the other, I think that DH would really like to do that excursion.

We decided to buy 320 points at the DVC Bay Lake Tower, so the cruise is off for this year, BUT we get 2 great Disney World trips this year, one over Christmas.

Please take us off the fish extender list.

I have a friend who will still be on the May 2nd cruise with all of you and she is meeting us at WDW on the 9th when you all get back in port. I will hear ALL about it!!! Have a great time!!

FISH EXTENDER INFO:We would like to update the Fish Extender list! If you are interested, whether you are BIG, small, OLD, young.....you can participate! It should be a lot of fun!!!! If you are interested, please post or pm myself or pink elephants with your names, cabin # and ages of who is participating!

Here is some info (taken from another thread)

Here is a link on the Fish Extender info

And what you do is each member that decides to participate in the Exchange Buys or makes one of these and has them hung by their stateroom door. Then Everyone gets or makes gifts or brings something special for each person participating in the exchange. You dont have to give much, it isnt to break the bank so to speak. But its something fun and its neat coming back to your room and having a gift or two waiting for you

On the other meet that I am on, They made a list of who all is participating and then their stateroom Numbers and AGE and/or occassion of who all is traveling (in case you want to do something related for gifts) and Each person gets a gift for everyone (whatever you want).

You can assign people to give their gifts on certain days if you want everyone to get a gift each day or if you like or it can be a free for all (meaning you can give them out whenever you want to during the cruise). But each person is supposed to get a gift Also you can either just get gifts for certain ones or you can get gifts for everyone thats participating (depends on what the rules are going to be) for the cruise meet that I am on for October, You must bring something for everyone on the list...about 16 people so far participating on that one. But not every cruiser participates or has to, just whomever would like to.

COME ON AND JOIN IN.............IT SHOULD BE FUN!!!

Oh my gosh!!! I have been so excited all weekend long, and driving my DH crazy by the way, even more than normal. I think he is so tired of hearing about this trip......I kind of feel sorry for him...just a little!!!

With all of the plans finally coming together and the time feels like it is just flying by now...well... :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

The next 11 weeks or so are going to be very busy for us, we are still renovating our basement, I am having some dental surgery done, my youngest DD is having her tonsils out and our kids are having a big party for us for our Anniversary. Probably once this is all over with, we are going to have major withdrawals.

Tonight I booked our Cirque/La Nouba tickets for after the cruise and we are also booked on the Grand 1 Yacht to see the Fireworks! We have decided on our excursions for sure: (or as long as they are available)

The Mexican Cooking Class in Cozumel
The Aquaboat & Snorkel Tour in Grand Cayman
Plus we are going to try and get Palo reservations for WEdnesday night.

Hello, fellow cruisers! I'm DW to DaveH, who said hello a page or 2 back. Just don't have the time or the energy to go back and read the thread from the beginning, so we've just sorta grabbed onto the tail. We only signed up for the cruise a few weeks ago, but are really looking forward to it! I just added our names to the list for the fish extenders and was reminded to come say hi. So

I'm an accountant at a CPA firm and we are in the full swing of tax season. I'm already getting stressed and it helps to come here and look at the cruise pix. So now you know why we chose THIS cruise! :rotfl: Can't wait to meet you all!!

Hi there :yay: :yay: Oh my, you ARE really going to need this cruise! My first thought was that you were crazy to just go right as soon as tax season is finishing....but then I realized you are from the US. Here is Canada our tax deadline is April 30th...is yours a little earlier???

Well....come here and destress all you want!!! Just think, "CRUISE":yay:

I have been reading about the Captain's Dinner. What night is that and what does it mean????:confused3
There are special dinners on the last 4 nights of the cruise - master chef, pirates of the caribbean, capt's gala and 'til we meet again. Our Passporter had sample menus for each night, so I let DD rank which nights she most wanted to go (since she can't come to Palo). Not surprisingly, Pirates night and 'Til We Meet Again night were her two must-haves, along with Animator's Palette.

I have one worry about Palo ressies, and I'm hoping that some of the experienced cruisers can answer my question. We all really want to go to Animator's Palette, but what if the night we get for Palo ends up being our night for AP? What do we do then? Other than trying for one of the nights late in the cruise, is there any way to reduce our chances of getting Palo tickets for that night?
