May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

Hi Everyone
I'm still in Las Vegas. DW flew home this morning because I started my conference today. This was DW's first time in Sin City and she ended up having a good time. At first, I think she was a little overwhelmed.

We saw some good shows:

1) La Reve: A Cirque Du Soleil - like show, similar to "O" in that it takes place in the water. We enjoyed this the best.
2) Mac King: Family style entertainment (a little magic and comedy). Not great but not bad. It's probably one of the better afternoon shows, however.
3) Mystere: We heard this was the best Cirque show, but we were slightly bored after about 30 minutes. I don't know if it was because we were tired (we had hiked a hard trail that afternoon) or because we compared it to La Reve or because we compared it to La Nouba (in Orlando). We figured that people who had never been to Cirque du Soleil would probably enjoy the show.
4) Carrot Top: Very funny. We didn't laugh at every gag, but some jokes were knee-slappers. A few hard laughs qualifies this show as a recommend.
5) Phantom: Very good. If you are a Broadway enthusiast, you may find fault in this 'abbreviated' version. Nonetheless, DW and I love the music and therefore we enjoyed the show.

So that's it for now.

Awesome Zerog! I loved Vegas when I was there....where are you staying??? Great that your DW had a good time!

Hey Zerog, How long are you in vegas? My DMIL is there now!! And we will be there next friday :woohoo: We are staying at Treasure Island, My MIL is at a conference for the Credit union now and she is staying at the Venetian :goodvibes

I think that 2:30 in the Promenade Lounge on sail day is a great time...and Im with keeping it short and sweet and I was thinking that maybe possibly later in the week we can set times that IF people want to meet up (no half to's) that we all can on deck 9 near the ice cream :rolleyes1 For like an Ice cream social :confused3

Hey everyone, I just wanted to throw a couple ideas out here for everyone to toss around if you would like:

On the OCT Meet here are some things that we are doing/thinking about right now...wanted to add them here in case we wanted to think about doing any of these...

Ice Cream Social- Pick a time on Sea Days that those who would like to meet up can at the Goofy's Galley I believe it is. No one HAS to do it, but just in case we all would like to meet up again during the sailing, have a time that we could :confused3

Magnet Tag- Where everyone who wants to join signs up and we put all the participating cabin numbers and names on the back of a magnet and the magnet gets placed on someone's door that is participating and then that person must pass it to another participant who marks their name off of the magnet or puts a check next to it...and then passes it on till it has gone to everyone that is playing and then you can either do it again (just send it to more random people) or whatever you would like to do.

Another Idea that I have (IF) I can get my hubby to help me...since he is a computer nerd :lmao: Is have a main website for us that lists our name, our logo and our activities that we are going to do/thinking of doing. And then We can put everyone's name and stateroom number and number of guests and kids and genders and such on there so we all know whos cruising with us...and We can also put all the important info on there like the FE Exchange info and participants and such :confused3 Just a thought. It could be updated occasionally so that everyone can go there to see whos doing what or whats in the works :confused3 Sounds kinda like a lot of work eh? But If we could do that It may save us work later on...so that everyone can go to one place to see whats going on or whats happening. :rolleyes1

Ok enough of me babbling. I just wanted to throw those ideas out there for everyone :grouphug: I will get down off of my soapbox now and head to bed as I am not even sure if any of this is making sense right now. I am very tired and trying to get my head cleared of stuff before going to bed. G'Nite everyone :cloud9:

I am leaving Vegas Sunday morning. I'm not staying anywhere exciting - I'm at a Marriott off the strip. It's got some advantages: I can park and be in my room in less than 3 minutes and its quiet. If I stayed at a casino, I'd be ((more)) tempted to go downstairs and gamble. I'm not a big gambler but I like to play a few games for short amounts of time.

Treasure Island is where we saw Mystere and the Venetian is where Phantom is playing. We could have walked right by your DMIL. :tiptoe: Last year, I saw the Blue Man Group at the Venetian (its still there!) and really enjoyed that show. Actually I had seen BMG in Orlando and went to the Vegas show to see if it was different. I'd say the show was almost exactly the same as in Orlando.

Hey Tazgirl!

I would be all in for the magnet tag, sounds like fun! If there ends up being an "ice cream social" (so to speak) we may join in....I just don't want to commit to too many things, I want to have a free schedule. I figure that we will all run into one another at some point....which will probably end up like mini-meets.

As for the other site........well....I, myself would prefer to have the info all in just one place (isn't that what the meet thread is all about?). I don't have a problem with posting everything on the mainpage, it is a simple copy and paste. :) As I spend a lot of time on the computer and with Disney stuff.....to be quite honest, adding another site for me to keep up with....hmmm:confused3 would make things more complicated for me. Just my input there, and hope that it doesn't offend you!

Can't wait to hear about the Fish Extender stuff you have lined up!

Im with Laura001, I will do some of the stuff but I dont want to be weighed down with alot of stuff cause I wanna do the cruise stuff too. If I have the time I might do the ice cream meet thing but I think it would be better to just surprise ones with the magnets that we put on others doors. I dont want to half to keep up with putting the numbers on the backs and passing them to whomever hasnt gotten them. That takes to much time away from the cruise. To much to keep up with. :surfweb:

I was wondering how the cruise logo stuff is coming along? It would be nice if someone could come up with a small logo (rectangle shape perhaps) that we could all paste into our signatures?

:thumbsup2 We could also set a time each day that people can meet for ice cream and whoever shows up shows up. I was in a playgroup with DS that worked that way. It was very casual with no pressure.

Sounds like a verandah party may also be in the works. I say room service may be the way to go for it. ::yes:: Plus, I love Mickey Bars. )

I like 2:30 pm on sail day for the meet. It's late enough for everyone to get on ship but early enough that it won't conflict with the 4 pm drill.:cool2: Would anyone want to do the icebreaker that Zerog mentioned from the trip report: the one where everyone brings a gift, they're put in a pile, people draw numbers, and then people either take a gift from the pile or steal a gift from someone who's already taken a gift?

Zerog, sounds like La Reve was very good. The kids really want to see that one. We're going to see a Cirque show this weekend in Calgary. It's called Corteo. (Anyone seen it? Any reviews?) Have you seen any other watershows in Vegas? We have a friend whose DD was a synchronized swimmer growing up, and she's now in the "non-Cirque" watershow there, but I can't remember its name. I'll have to ask you about BMG when we're on the ship. Aren't they at Universal?

Pirate at Heart: They don't do email at her school, so she's not so great with computers. She's a great letter writer, though. Is Courtney? If she isn't, I might try to get Em onto the computer just before we sail. It would be nice for them to meet and chat a bit ahead of time.:goodvibes

Wow, this board is starting to take off! :cool1: TTFN.

No worries on the website or what not. ...Im just throwing out ideas for everyone on what they are doing over in the OCT meet :thumbsup2

As for the graphics..was there a certain one that everyone liked? If yet then we can work on making it smaller or whatever for everyone to put in their signatures :lovestruc If no one liked any of those then we can work on some others :goodvibes

The ice cream social wouldnt be a set thing that everyone has to do...Its just a time and place for anyone who wants to meet up...to meet up ;) No one has to go, its just IF you want something to do with other people...to go and do :lovestruc

Setting a time each day for the ice cream social sounds like a nice idea. You can come, not come, whatever. Very casual, I like it!

I also like Zerogs idea. If we do this, count us in. Do we bring 1 gift per person or per family?

Snail mail is fine. I'll PM you our address. I told Courney about you DD and she's very excited!

Hi Pink
La Reve has some synchronized swimming and is non-cirque. The only other water show I heard about in Vegas is "O" which is Cirque and is playing at the Bellagio (the casino with the water fountain show out front).

BMG is playing at Universal Studios, but it's not inside the park - so you don't have to buy Universal tickets. I was concerned that the music would be too loud for my then DD5 so I only took DW and DS. My DS laughed so hard. I later took my DD5 and she really enjoyed BMG. It wasn't too loud. So, I've seen BMG 3x. I think once is enough. ;)

The sat time for the icecream thing sounds good to me.
The gift thing, I thought was for the fish hanger thingy. Am I wrong? It sometimes gets confusing for a first timer.
Im not at home right now either but Im gonna start making some fish hangers when I get home. It looks pretty simple.

Hey mom...I think that they are talking about doing a gift exchange in ADDITION to the FE exchange (I think thats right :confused3 ) but thats what I am understanding. Just like a Meet thing (each person brings 1 gift) when we meet up :thumbsup2

I cant wait to see your Fish Extenders mom...Can you make one for Mama Sally as well? She will like that :lovestruc She likes Minnie mouse (from what she told me) Just so you know ;)

Sure hon. Im glad you told me what she iikes cause I didnt know. I will try to find something neat for her. :thumbsup2

Ok hon, thanks for clearifying the gift thing. I will half to see about that one. Thanks. :flower3:

Hey tazgirl, could you fix my signature and put it all in one straight line like yours? It looks neater. Thanks, Your ever loving MOM :rotfl2: hehehehehe Love Ya

Sure I will fix it for you...Give me one minute cause Im going to bring my laptop with me into the bedroom to put chris to bed...I will still be online and I will fix it for you then ;)

Thanks, can you move it over like yours? It looks lost. hehehehe I dont know how to do any of this. thanks
