Good Afternoon Everyone:

There is an interesting thread on the main board titled "What to do with cruise meet threads that are too personal?"

Here is the OP's message:

While planning our first cruise I found DIS and my cruise meet thread and...I fell in "love".... All the knowledge of prior cruisers was more than I could have hoped for it made for a very special trip...

Fast forward to now and planning our second trip I once again headed to the cruise meet threads..this time the honeymoon is over.

After my "greeting" of glad to have you along. Thats about where it stopped. Many, many on this certain thread talk nonstop about "billy, bonnie, and sally's" soccer games. ..and never talk about anything at all cruise related.

While I want to get to know about "billy, bonnie, and sally". I think we all have to remember that we have new cruisers joining all the time and if the same handful of people have private conversations on the thread...you make people feel like they are butting in on strangers if posting something not related..

Remember balance is the key..try to talk about cruise stuff once in awhile to engage new people...It could make all the difference in someones cruise...:)

I'd like to say that I hope nobody ever feels out of place on the May 2 cruise meet. It's certainly not a private party! As far as I'm concerned, people can post as much or as little personal information as they feel comfortable. (I wouldn't post my VISA number, however. :offtopic: ).

I would hope that no one would feel that way either. The more people the better..........share away!

I wouldn't mind if you posted your VISA number for us all to pay off our cruises with....:rotfl:

Well I bought my formal dress for the cruise!!!! I'm looking forward to looking better in it after I loose the rest of my pregnancy weight but it doesn't look that bad right now. I got it for 29.99 at Dress Barn...50% off :woohoo: !!! They had alot of cute stuff there.

I also bought a swim suit :headache: I really hope I get to buy another one next spring...in a smaller size and cuter. I have not had a one piece in YEARS!!! But with my lovely stretch marks a two peice is out of the question :(

On a more positive note...my In-laws are going on the cruise with us too!!!! They just came off the West Bound Repo and can't wait to go again...we got more people hooked on DCL :cool1: :lmao:

That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (on the dress, on the next swimsuit, and on your in-laws:goodvibes )

I haven't bought any dresses yet, but I did buy a pair of sandals and put them in my closet to wear next year (I know, just a little crazy) Well, my oldest DD found them today and wore them, they were a little big on her and when she was walking on the sidewalk she stubbed the fronts of them a couple of times...........:furious: Of course when I told her that I had bought them for the cruise, she looked at me like I had three heads.

I completely understand the "three head look" I get it alot when people hear about my obsessive planning problem :rotfl2:

I want to buy a formal dress so badly, but I am really hoping to lose a few pounds before next May so I will wait until we get a little closer and see if I can buy something new or just wear something I already have. I sure hope I can go shopping....:cool1:

Last cruise, we didn't bring any dressy clothes; instead we chose to eat casually at TopSiders on formal nite. I guess many others had the same idea, as there was a 20 minute wait to get in. The buffet line was closed. They had menus at the table.

For the May 2, 2009 cruise, I think we will go ahead and dress up. You can get a lot of good family photo's. ::yes::

The group names are cute, everyone!

I haven't done any cruise clothes shopping yet...well, I take that back. I did pick up a cute Pirates of the Caribbean denim skirt at the Disney outlet for something like $5 and thought that might be cute on Pirate Night.

The only other shopping I have done is for DD's surprise birthday party. I still haven't uttered a word about the cruise to anyone other than my parents and my in-laws! Anyhow, the $ store has had loads of cute luau stuff so I figured I'd pick it up now rather than be looking all over for it next year...goodness knows I'll have other things on my mind trying to get ready to leave without having to drive myself crazy looking for party stuff. ;)

School is getting ready to dismiss here for the year. Yeah, finally a break for a few weeks! But then I've got to keep on tutoring over the summer. I've got a cruise to pay off! :goodvibes

Good morning!

As you all know, we are planning a surprise island party for my DD's birthday next spring, at which time we are going to tell her we are going on the cruise!!!

I have been buying party things as I see them on sale and just wanted to let you know about something super cute that I just found. There is a precious video on how to hula dance for kids - ages 3 to 9. You can get the DVD on Amazon for $19.95 but if you order directly from the company, you can get the DVD plus a hula costume set for the same price! And, if you don't mind having VHS format, you can get the set for $14.95. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to mention it in case any of you are planning your own tropical party or if you just want your little Disney cruiser to get into the island spirit before cruise time! This would also make a cute Christmas gift or the costume would be cute for Halloween! :beach:

Thanx for the info. Right now, my DD5 is into princesses but you never know. I'll keep that website tucked away in my back pocket for future reference. :goodvibes
