May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

My DH is a huge football fan. He loves the Seattle Seahawks for Pro and a toss up between Oregon State and University of Hawaii for College.

We both are NASCAR fans. We both were huge Earnhardt Sr. fans and now support Jr. He is also a "closet" Biffle fan. I will pretty much cheer anyone on to a win over Gordon, Johnson and the Busch brothers. :duck:

just bought my clear over-the-door (shoe) organizer from target last week...the official cruise shopping has begun! i can't believe how the time is already counting down...i love the weekly countdown, thanks zerog!

That is awesome! I wasn't going to buy one initiallly because it is just DH and I, but I think it will be a good idea even just for the two of us. Next time I am over in the States, I am heading to Target! :goodvibes

The clear plastic shoe holder is probably the single best tip that Dis'ers have to offer. ::yes:: Something so cheap yet so useful.

For our excursions, I'm still leaning heavily on a Dolphin swim in Cozumel and a turtle farm visit in GC. I'm still undecided about KW and CC. We drove to KW about 10 years ago and rented scooters (that's what most people do). We had our car of course, but trying to find a parking place is time consuming. Of course, that was before we had kids. :moped:

Hi Everyone! I am so excited, I just booked us on this cruise! I was going to wait, but the 1/2 off deposit offer was too good to pass up. So, I wanted to introduce ourselves. There will be myself (32), DH (Dave,34), and DD (Amanda, 9), ages are at the time of cruise. We are from Michigan. This is our first cruise. We've been to Disney back to back in 07 and 08, so we thought we would do something a little different, but still wanted to keep that "Disney Magic".

47 more weeks:-).

Hello mjlewis23
:yay:

Welcome to 'your' cruise meet. Fortunately, you only have to go back 10 pages to catch up. If you do, you'll see that we haven't even thought up a good name for our group yet. :rolleyes1 Feel free to suggest..

We have a DS who will also be 9 at cruise time. We've been on 2 DCL cruises and the kids can't wait for the third. Funny, DS was asking me yesterday how many more days. I told him 300 and something and I guess that didn't sound like very much to him as he seemed pleased with that answer. :hyper:

If you look at the roll call above, you will see that there are some interesting events happening within our cruise meet - for example, a wedding and some anniversary celebrations. One family is celebrating their DD's birthday Hawaiian style. We have some wonderful folks from all parts of the US as well as Canada.

Glad you joined us. ::yes::

Welcome mjlewis23 :goodvibes

The over-the-door holder is a must have...no matter how many people are in your cabin. A few more items I have found usefull are:

1. a nightlight for the bathroom-the lights in there are blinding in the middle of the night (you can use a glow stick but you need to bring one for each night as they only last about 12 hours)

2. glow bracelets for the deck parties at night...makes things festive

3. highlighters for the Navigators-that way you can plan out your day and make sure you don't miss anything...also post-its so you can leave notes to other family members in your stateroom

4. Photocopy your important documents to have on hand just in case

5. Guest Services has extra copies of the Navigators so if you want a clean copy you can get them...they also have seasick meds if you have an quick unset of queasy tummy.

6. If you have an outside stateroom bring clothes pins to help keep out the morning light as the curtains don't always closes enough

7. Castaway Cay has free strollers to use while you are there

8. There is no illuminated clock in the room. So if you are a clock watcher you might want to bring your own or get a wrist watch with a light. As for setting alarms you can either: set a wake-up call (Mickey calls you), schedule room service, use the propeller clock (not illuminated) or set the TV to come on.

9. Forward and Aft elevators are always the better option...Midship ones are usually very busy or to help burn off all those fabulous dessers...take the stairs

10. If you have several people in your cabin and they all need showers at the same time...send someone to use the showers in the gym. They are very nice and usually not very busy during dinner/show hours.

There are a bunch more but my little boy is waking up from his nap so I will post more later....

Welcome! First time cruisers here too! Can hardly wait, just received our passporter this morning before we were heading out to a golf tournament. I am sure that I will have a good look at it over the weekend!!!

Wow! Thanks for sharing all those tips....they all sound awesome, keep adding away!!!

I ordered the Deluxe Cruise Passporter last week and it arrived on Friday. I started looking it over on the weekend, seem to be very informative for a new cruiser (that would be us)

I am just hitting the dining areas, menus, etc. I was surprised to read that it took 4.3 million dollars to build AP, can't wait to see DH's face when we eat there, am trying to keep it a secret from him :cool1:

Now you have access to all the information: from the Passporter to the Disboards. Let us know if you find anything interesting. :thumbsup2

We love AP. The kids constantly look around trying to identify the characters on the wall. If possible, try to stay past dessert, because they put on a little show. I say "little show" because I don't want anyone to set their expectations too high (like I did the first cruise). :duck:

Back in April we sat right in the middle of AP and I don't think anyone really noticed what was even taking place. Maybe they all cruised before and didn't really care. But I watched the show and enjoyed it, but a little disappointed, I think I was expecting something much more but it was still pretty.

So here we are in mid-June and it is getting HOT in Florida! :sunny: I took the kids to the pool at the Resort on Saturday for a couple of hours. DW stayed home to clean - she claims she can't clean the house with the kids running around. I think she likes to drink her Red Bull, turn up the music, :music: and go to work. When I got home, DW noticed that I had gotten some sun. :sunny:

One day, maybe we'll all post a photo or two of ourselves so we can recognize each other on the ship. Me, I have dark skin so I've never had to worry too much about sunblock. I do coat the kids from head to toe. However, I have gotten a sunburn in Florida in February. :sunny: You can imagine what it'll be like in early May for our cruise. In fact, on our April 2007 cruise I saw a LOT of red backs. For my northern friends who will be coming down to Florida during snow and 20 degree weather, do not underestimate what it will be like in Florida and the Caribbean in early May!! :rolleyes1 And remember, you CAN get a sunburn on a cloudy day - it's the UV rays that get ya, and they go right thru the clouds. :cloud9:

After seasickness, perhaps the next worst (avoidable) ailment is being sunburned. A bad case will knock you out for at least a couple of days.

Well..........I hope that AP isn't a disappointment, I have been looking forward to seeing it. Oh well...........I will just be excited being there!!!! :goodvibes

This morning was very exciting for us, we were able to secure a reservation at BWV with a boardwalk view for the week after our cruise!!!! WOOHOO!!!! We have always wanted to stay at the BWV and look out onto the boardwalk........ahhh....can hardly wait!!!!! It is so exciting, yet so far away! I am going to savour every moment of this pre-cruise/trip time!!!!

Group Name

I was thinking today of something with a play on words (such as Bay, Day, Pay, or Way - converted to May).

Something like "May Troopers," or "May Trippers."

Close, but STILL not there. :faint:
