May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

we are early dining too.

So let me know if you want to be table friends and I can contact Disney.
I would need your reservation number and names, but we can PM them to each other.

Toribelle: answered you in a pm.

What dining is everyone else doing? Why did you decide on early or late???

First off, welcome toribelle! :welcome:
I added you to the list on page 2. When we start hitting pages 10 and above, you may find me repeating the list.

On our 3-nite cruise, we had late seating. My DD4 fell asleep at the table. I guess the head server felt bad for us and found us early seating the next 2 nites.

On the 7-nite eastern, we got stuck with late seating again. No one fell asleep, but I could tell the kids were tired.

On this 7-nite Western, I requested early seating. I think I'd rather the kids be tired at the late show than at the dinner table waiting for the next course. At least the shows hold their attention. They get antsy when dinner is taking over an hour to finish. The disadvantage is that we'll need to be back on the ship earlier in order to get ready. On the other hand, if we miss dinner we can always go grab something on deck 9. Those of you with no kids can probably do no wrong.

This is a good question for the main boards. I just scratched the surface. There are probably a lot of good pro's and con's that I haven't thought of. Thank goodness we have 51 months - ok, 51 weeks. ;)

... everytime he tries to put a mask over his glasses it doesn't work at all, it always leaks. Needless to say he spends all of his time fighting with the mask, so he just gives up.

I have the same issue with my mask. I think it has to do with my mustache. DW won't allow me to shave, so some recommend putting vasoline on the mustache. That seems to help. Does your DH have facial hair? (why do I feel funny asking that question)... Supposedly, you should be able to place the mask on your face, let go, and hold it in place by just the suction created when you breathe in thru your nose. If it falls off, you need another mask.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: That is a riot.........I can hardly stop from bursting out laughing!!!!!!!!!! I am sitting here at work trying to stay quiet!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: For the record, no facial hair!! :rotfl: :rotfl: It is just his glasses that are in the way.

Yes, thank-goodness we have 51 months.......oops weeks ;) to get all the details worked out!!!!

DH has facial hair and got very little water in the mask and it didn't bother him because is just stayed near his nose and didn't move much. We got face mask and tubes at Dicks for about $25.00, cheap but did the job.

I can not wait. Weather was perfect 2 weeks ago, and it looks the same this week.

NIGHTMARES:

That's when the fun begins. I had several before my last cruise - nothing major, usually just things such as forgetting my carry-on bag. When I have one, I'll be sure to share it with everyone (if it's rated PG, that is). ;)

I believe that the weather this time of the year is pretty dependable. We have been to WDW several times at this time of the year and it has always been great. Betcha next year is no exception! :goodvibes

We are joining this cruise as well. We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary (actually 9/26 but hate cruising in Sept.) and plan on doing a vow renewal (if we are lucky enough to get an open spot).

Our cruising party will be (ages are at time of sailing):
Myself (32)
DH (33)
DS (14 months)

We are in cabin 2126.

We are also sailing with my Sister and her family and my mother. They are in 2124 and 2122.

This will be our fifth DCL cruise and first western. My Sister and her family have never sailed before and this will be my Mom's 3rd DCL trip.

Looking forward to "meeting" you all :thumbsup2

Hey there! Welcome to our cruise thread! WOW, five cruises, this is going to be great, lots of experienced cruisers to help us "newbies" out! What is the best experience you have had with DCL?

The best overall cruise was the two week panama in 2005. What could be better than 14 days on the Mickey Boat. We really got to know our servers and room attendant. We got to enjoy the ship and take part in activities we normally wouldn't. But all our trips have been wonderful and it has been really hard not to be able to sail for a few years.

But this time will be completly different as we will be sailing with our son. So I hope you all won't mind if I pick your brains on crusing with a small child.

Speaking of which...he just woke up from his nap...bottle time...I'll check back later....

Hi There!

We will have our little ones with us too (will be 4 & 1)! We traveled with our daughter on the Med Cruise when she was 2 & 1/2 so I'd be happy to answer any questions about cruising with a toddler.

Time for a quick update:

That puts us at 30 people in our roll call.

BTW, my friends in Maryland have now officially declined to join us. They just don't have the budget to take a 2009 cruise; but they think a 2010 cruise is going to work.

:welcome: Welcome Disneydreamer8 :welcome:

Our stateroom is just across the ship from you. We will be sharing the aft elevators, which is nice because that's directly below Topsiders! :thumbsup2 Also, the laundry room is very close. You don't know how many times I walked back and forth with a bag of dirty clothes, :scared: only to find all the washers or dryers in use. :laundy:

Thanks for the warm welcome. It will be nice to know some of our aft neighbors are Dis'ers :thumbsup2 We have never been this far aft on deck 2 (we are usually forward on deck 1 or midship on deck 2) But my Sister needs a pull down berth and connecting rooms.

I remember lugging laundry on the two week cruise...what a pain...but I needed the room for souvies so I only packed enough clothes for 10 days.

My sisters family is DSis (36) DH (37) DD (14) DS (11) DD (1). Their DD (14) will be sharing a room with Mom.

So a couple of questions for those who have cruised with little ones. Did you take an umbrella stoller and did you use it on the ship or only on shore? Did you use DCL cribs or something else? What are the highchairs like in the dining rooms?

I have more but I'll ration them out ;)

TIA :goodvibes

We brought a more sturdy stroller than just an umbrella b/c we had to walk a lot more than probably needed in Caribbean since we were in Europe. We went on all-day excursions (& on our own) & wanted DD to be able to sleep in a reclining stroller - which worked out fabulously! She wound up sleeping through a lot of our lunches, which allowed us to dine leisurely (needed in Europe!) & then would feed her snacks we'd brought from home. For ex, I packed individual packs of soy crisps b/c they are light, easy & don't spoil but contain protein to help fill her up & are healthy. We used the stroller only on shore.

We planned to use the DCL crib but the couch that turns into a cot worked out great. We got the DCL guard rail & it was pretty much like a little crib but didn't take up space in the room. She was 2 & 1/2 at the time though - wouldn't work for an infant.

I can't remember what the high chairs were like - I think just like the wooden ones you get in restaurants without a tray or anything?

As I said in an earlier post, my parents are planning to cruise with us. However, in reading through my WDW Passporter, I'm realizing I'd much rather have them do the week in WDW with us than on the boat. Besides, close friends of ours have expressed interest in cruising with us & that'd be lots of fun since they have a toddler too. My mom seems up for either, but my dad is fairly set on the cruise since he's done Disneyworld with my sister's kids & with my brother's kids (they're older now) & he's never done a cruise. Any suggestions for how to get myself out of this pickle?

Hmmmm....that is a pickle. Does he know that your friends are interested in going also? Perhaps that would help him to change his mind a little. Would he listen to what your thoughts are, or are you worried about how you might make him feel?
