May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I have seen people miss the boat, but it wasn't because they were on private tours; it's because they were idiots! I'll take a private tour any day before I will fly to the port city the same day the ship sails.

Obviously, there are lots of private tours going out on this cruise. Just saying what we are comfortable with!:goodvibes

Glad you are coming in today, Nancy! We had several tornadoes around Dallas last night. The spring weather that normally hits in April is running about a month late it seems.

We should arrive at Hobby around 7:30 in the morning. Weather is looking better the next few days and 0% chance of rain for sailaway when I looked this morning. :cool1:

I will definitely see you guys at the Tremont tomorrow night! :goodvibes

That explains why the plane I'm on to Dallas this morning arrived here 3 hours late last night. The flight had to be delayed this morning so the crew could get their mandated rest.

The weather report sounds very favorable -yay! :)

You are amazing! I can see going without my DH, but no way would he be going without me!

Same here!

Any chance you could share the instructions - i have an ipad but never actually saved anything to it and don't have a clue how to!

It must be simply because I did it without assistance!

Last cruise we were in danger of not getting to the port in time, it was very tense. That was the first time that happened in 20+ years of cruising. From that day forward we have decided to not fly on the date of departure. Doesn't take much to :scared1: me.

Also saw a family left in port in St Thomas so we usually do Disney tours...

Can't wait to meet everyone. Safe travels!

. . . my 6:45 a.m. flight to Dallas was delayed just over 2 hours

. . . If I were cruising today, I'd be a nervous wreck! I have never flown in the day the ship sailed, and I hope I never have to.
It's smart to fly in early, especially for a cruise like this where the first port with flight service is Madeira on Day 11.

We are renegades -- always flying in the day of departure. For us it is different, though. No connections (if we did have them, we would change our approach), no weather issues (unless there is a hurricane or tsunami, but really?), and many, many flights after ours that we could take and connect in LA or SF and still make it with plenty of time. As it is now, we will arrive at IAH at 8:30am and be at the port by 10:30!

I posted the same thing some months ago, and was told that one could fly to Nassau and be taken by boat to Castaway Cay to catch up. Perhaps so, but I'd rather just fly to the departure port a few days early!

If you see people miss the ship, chances are they are touring on their own -rather than on a private excursion. An independent tour operator wouldn't be in business long if its clients missed their ship.

By the way, I'm in Dallas now. :)

** My 12:50 flight to Houston has now been delayed until 2:15. I would've been SOL if this were Saturday!

I hope to see you Saturday in Galveston! :teeth:

Same for us, early flight and used Disney air. DH work schedule just wouldn't allow us to go Friday.

Safe travels to everyone whether flying today, tomorrow or Sat. Or those who are driving! See you all soon! In about 48 hours!!!!

Woohoo. Haven't been this happy to be at an airport in ages.

I'm sitting in a rocking chair staring at our plane as it rolls in.

I'd take a picture and post it but it appears my memory card has corrupted or something. Gotta dig out a replacement.

This is likely to be my last post until we get back :cool1:

Can't wait to see you all on Saturday. We leave in the morning and are just busy today.

It's really sad that some on here find it appropriate to poke fun at those of us who MUST fly in the day of the cruise due to other obligations or who choose to take non-DCL excursions...............

I can't wait to meet most of you on Saturday, and we're flying in that day and think that we will make it just fine. If not, we are close enough to drive!

At this point with me stressing about getting everyone pulled together to leave, I think I'm done, as I don't need the additional stress of reading these posts.................

Hope everyone has safe travels and you all make it in time no matter when you've had to fly or drive!

HUGS!

Hello Everyone,
So excited, our adventure is right around the corner. Our cabin # is 5516 . Looking forward to meeting everyone new and seeing lots of old friends as well...:cool1:

Happy dance I finished with my last client at 8:30 last night and in bed at 10:30...the earliest pre cruise ever I think! Of course wide awake at 1:30am before the 3:30 alarm. Go figure. I will still have to work remotely some on the cruise (and this afternoon) but what the view I will have :)

I am still pinching myself it is almost time. Seems like opening day that we booked this cruise was just yesterday! Prayers for safe travels and good health for everyone!!!

So sorry if it seems like poking fun-- I think it might be an expression of relief, esp. for those who are lucky enough to have already arrived in Texas... ::yes:: I apologize if I've been one to add to your stress :flower3:.

:goodvibes I can't wait to finally meet you in person :flower3: You'll get in just fine :goodvibes

Well, I said I wouldn't be checking in again, yet here I am :rotfl: Woke up at the crack of dawn and we're pretty much ready to go, but we don't leave the house for another 3 1/2 hours. So I'm reading the Dis and drinking my coffee :coffee:

A little last minute but I just noticed that I didn't get a list of cabins involved in the exchange. Did I just miss it? Has anyone heard anything?
