May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

That's good to know! I had a few friends on the past Thanksgiving cruise of the Magic and they basically said they would never sail another holiday again :( I've cruised Thanksgiving and Spring Break a couple times each (other cruise lines) but that was before having kiddos so we were usually in the adults only portions of the ships.
I have heard a lot of folks say that they'd never sail another KSF sailing. Maybe since we had never been on any other cruise it seemed normal. All I know is that I never really felt as if it was too busy and we had fantastic times.

I'll have to tell you some of the stories in-person...

How many here are still waiting on cabin numbers? If they come soon we should have a better idea.

I would think by early next week GT cabins will be assigned, then we can see what is left (hopefully a lot). I was looking at cabins last week - seeing if we have any chance of having our 2 cabins next to each other.

We were on the Magic over Christmas and the ship definitely felt fuller than the Fantasy in September. The sign was posted that the ship was full at check in. I would love to see the Magic more empty!

There were even more if typing in individual cabins - I tried a few in 5A for fun and they popped up. But if a category showed 8 cabins, it could be more than just those 8 by testing numbers. Like the cabin nextdoor to us was booked but the next three were empty. Those were the ones I randomly tried to just check our hallway. My guess is there are probably more than those 63 just because categories 9D, 9C, 9A, 5A and 5B all showed the full 8. I only tinkered with additional cabin numbers in 5A. 5C was the only category only showing gty, but 11A, 10A, 9 A-D, 5 A, 5B, 4 ABE, and 6A showed specific cabin numbers.

Oh wow... Played with these categories by randomly typing in cabin numbers not on the list displayed by DCL (curiosity got the best of me):

9D (shows 8 on deck 1) and found a few more
9C (deck 2) had 8 cabins plus several more such as 2638 - 2646 (those 5 for sure)
9B only has one showing
9A (decks 6 and 7) found a couple deck 7 not on the list

the 5A I played with earlier today had at least three in our hallway before I quit playing with that one (not on the list)

4B showed 8 but gotta run to softball

There could definitely be more, it is just that DCL only shows a max of 8 per category unless you type in specific numbers to see if they appear. I was surprised finding the ones I did. Some were connecting cabins, so hopefully if there are families that booked OGT they will get connecting :)

Could everyone please be patient with those waiting on cabin numbers in fe exchange, We don't have them and I can't update the spreadsheet until we do:thumbsup2

Sorry! That was me on FB, just wanted to be sure not to miss the updated list, that's all! Sooooo excited!:yay:

I think she was getting questions here... she isn't on facebook so missed you being excited there ;) You should replay over here!! :hyper:

Me too in hoping no last minute specials to fill the ship! Realllllly looking forward to it not being so crowded! :)

A few friends are on the Magic this week and should be in port today for WDW. Will text one now to see about any specials they are noticing booking onboard.

Okay - my friend just texted me back with a pic of the onboard booking sheet. Only 10% off. Nothing about the 20% off certain sailings like someone posted on the main boards.

ETA: just texted him back to still stop by deck four just in case... may be a different flyer than what he sent me a pic of (it was Navigator pic)

Just got off the phone with DCL:rolleyes1 Our Cruise Director will be Darren McBurney and our Captain :boat:will be Robert Almer. (not sure of the spellings)

Movies will be : Iron Man 3, Oz, Lincoln, Brave 2D+3D, Wreck it Ralph, Avengers, Frankenweenie, Chimpanzee, Finding Nemo 3D, and Tangled 3D popcorn::.

The really helpful woman I spoke to was not privy to the acts onboard-- she apologized tons. And she didn't know if Ducky Williams would be there to teach us to draw again...:artist:
thank you !!!

Duckie doesn't usually do theses cruises because of his friend's health and immigration issues. BUT one never knows! It would be nice to see him again.

Regarding the full or not full ship? We both prefer the less crowded ships. Having done the two most recent maiden voyages....oh my...never knew Disney fans could be so rude! (and nasty). It was wild. That being said...the first two day out of NYC was MUCH WORSE.

Cathy and I were sitting in the Quiet Cove on a lounger...there was a group of folks obviously from NYC (that accent...one can't fake it!) They were SO loud and inappropriate. After about an hour of listening to them bash everything Disney, their teams (of what flavor??? I don't really care!), and just about everything else that came out of their mouths needed a serious editing (yea, I can cuss like a sailor ::yes::- but only when needed, not between every word!)...I had finally had enough. Cathy was stunned when I got up, walked over to the loudest of the guys who was about 6'3" to my 5'5" and tapped on his arm. I said to him "this area is called the QUIET COVE for a reason, please, respect the fact that others do not wish to hear your conversations" He was stunned and replied "oh, sorry, didn't know we were that loud". That was fine - however his female companion wanted to kill me...she was furious that not only had I interrupted "her" man, but I HAD TOUCHED HIM....I was laughing so hard by the time I sat down again Cathy had to hug me to keep it quiet. They did quiet down finally. But a cast member came to my rescue at that point and told them to settle down as well - or they would be asked to not drink for the remainder of the cruise. Three other lounge chairs of people thanked me! Sigh....makes me sad to think I really like NYC - just not all the people in it!

thanks...it was really funny how the companion felt I was out of line...sometimes I just do things and don't think about the consequences!

I hope the final FE list will be published soon - I for one would like to get the whole thing finished and packed!

Some *gty have not received cabins still. I went ahead and did everything, labeled baggies with dis names, placed in cabin order in a box. Then kept those without a cabin number in one group (adult and kid baggies grouped by family). Packed a sharpie just in case if changes onboard. Folks are thinking Monday might be the magical date to receive cabins . Hopefully they will get them to binkytell quickly so she can update the spreadsheet before she flies out May 8.

Just received a message that a family of our EBTA'ers are sitting on the plane to leave for their pre-cruise visit to Texas!! :cool1:

So who's next to start the journey?!?

How will the candy swap participants learn about particulars? Cabins? Day to distribute?

DH says if you fly into Intercontinental terminal A you are told to pick up bags at terminal B. yet, he had been told to meet Disney shuttle in Terminal A. Is there an update about this?:confused3

I have had a list of cabins from Tubbsteruk with cabin numbers (although a couple were GTY) and I was just going to surprise people with a drop off sometime during the cross (probably early on)

Good morning! My DH would like to know if there are Jazz enthusiasts on the cruise who might like to meet to discuss and possibly hijack a piano during the off hours to bounce jazz off each other. Or to discuss over drinks?:music:
Thanks!
