May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

Just got off the phone with DCL:rolleyes1 Our Cruise Director will be Darren McBurney and our Captain :boat:will be Robert Almer. (not sure of the spellings)

Movies will be : Iron Man 3, Oz, Lincoln, Brave 2D+3D, Wreck it Ralph, Avengers, Frankenweenie, Chimpanzee, Finding Nemo 3D, and Tangled 3D popcorn::.

The really helpful woman I spoke to was not privy to the acts onboard-- she apologized tons. And she didn't know if Ducky Williams would be there to teach us to draw again...:artist:

Any one got details of the films we might see on the Magic

David
See above.

Of course your time with you family is a priority.

I will be able to accept further 'orders' right up until the time I place the order which won't be until Tuesday Morning (UK Time) at the earliest so you still have time.

And yes, you can choose the colour and size, this make no odds to the cost - The only thing that changes the cost is the 'style' and at the moment we have more takers for the 50/50 polo so that is the cheaper option.

Take care and all the best to your family.

Paul
Thank you!

I just read Disney's official release of the Magic renovations and saw the You Tube video. I was just wondering what all of your opinions were on the changes? I have only been on one Disney cruise and it was on the Fantasy, so I really have nothing to compare it to!?
I think the changes look pretty wonderful and I'm sorry that we won't see any of them until at least 2015.

Reminds me of the scene in "L.A. Story" where Steve Martin drives about 20 feet in his driveway to get the mail.

Woody
That was such a great movie!

See the quote above with the bolded part.

I've been away from the computer for a few days and am woefully behind. Anything that I've missed on FB?

As per usual the wonderfully diser's rightly predicted I would receive my
IGT cabin number yesterday for our may 10th cruise, so hopefully all of us still waiting for the ebta Will get our cabins this Monday may 6th:cool1:

Could everyone please be patient with those waiting on cabin numbers in fe exchange, We don't have them and I can't update the spreadsheet until we do:thumbsup2

We watched the Disney Cruiseline show last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for letting us know the broadcasting information.

This group has been very generous sharing information that has been helpful to us all. Thank you to everyone, especially those who organized activities.

Never thought about it from that point of view.
After the economy tanked in 2008, the Magic was sailing well below capacity. They only had two dining rooms open per night, and the other third of the serving staff was furloughed. This was a rotating furlough (work two weeks, one week off), which affected crew morale, since they were making 1/3 less in tips.

Interesting thought...... On Friday If you count the day we board and the day we get off the ship it is the same amount of days till the cruise begins, 15 days.

We've only ever been on two cruises before and they were both KSF and full. Honestly, it didn't seem bad to us :confused3. I think it'd likely be nicer to be less full, but if it does fill up (highly unlikely), I thought they did an excellent job of keeping us all busy and out of one another's hair.

I'm secretly hoping it's not very full and that we can get an upgrade at port, but it'll be fantastic even if it's booked to the gills.

I'm so excited I want to :yay:

So true. I forgot about the gratuity aspect as well. :guilty: Right now I am coming up with at least 63+ cabins still available per DCL website this afternoon:

EBTA availability for four people:

Insides: 12 (cat 11A and 10A)
Outsides: 25+ (all four categories combined)
Verandahs cat 5: 12+ (5C is gty only, 5B has 1, 5A has 8 showing plus a few more I found randomly typing them in)
Family verandahs cat 4: 14 (4E-2, 4B-8, 4A - 4)
Total = 63+ available
If you look at for only 2 people, then you have a few 6A cabins available as well

Maybe those of us with 4 in a cabin are helping the tip ratio :)

That's good to know! I had a few friends on the past Thanksgiving cruise of the Magic and they basically said they would never sail another holiday again :( I've cruised Thanksgiving and Spring Break a couple times each (other cruise lines) but that was before having kiddos so we were usually in the adults only portions of the ships.

I missed this, because I have been away. Can anyone please send a link? I had been disappointed when the original ideas didn't materialize. :confused3

I was surprised to see that you had 10A cabins showing available, as that is what we have. Ours was GTY category until it was assigned around 55 days out.

When it was assigned, we still had our 10A cabin that we paid for, but I now see there are 4 to choose from (all on deck 7) - ours is on deck 5.

After 9/11 happened, we were booked on Celebrity out of San Juan. Many Americans cancelled the cruise due to having to fly. We felt so badly for the crew on that cruise. They would have been better off to have sailed the ship with so many empty cabins (according to our stateroom host that we got to know quite well). They ended up having a local special for $199 / person (inside) and $299 / person (outside) with pax 3 and 4 paying $99 so they could get passengers onboard (which of course we had booked a year in advance paying about quadruple that). This was before automatic gratuities, and most of the crew knew they were working their tails off more than usual and most likely not going to receive many tips. I can't even begin to explain the things we saw happening, graffiti, etc. The crew was so disappointed he said.

Don't forget the IGT/OGT/VGT cabins - I would imagine these rooms will be assigned out of the available rooms that show up on the website. I am hoping for a less than full ship as well!

There were even more if typing in individual cabins - I tried a few in 5A for fun and they popped up. But if a category showed 8 cabins, it could be more than just those 8 by testing numbers. Like the cabin nextdoor to us was booked but the next three were empty. Those were the ones I randomly tried to just check our hallway. My guess is there are probably more than those 63 just because categories 9D, 9C, 9A, 5A and 5B all showed the full 8. I only tinkered with additional cabin numbers in 5A. 5C was the only category only showing gty, but 11A, 10A, 9 A-D, 5 A, 5B, 4 ABE, and 6A showed specific cabin numbers.

How many here are still waiting on cabin numbers? If they come soon we should have a better idea.
