May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

Want to Watch the Magic Sail Into Port?

5:50 am - meet in lobby of Tremont
5:55 am - head out the doors towards the pier via Starbucks (map of Starbucks)
6:00 am - should be able to see where she is in case anyone needs to make a dash into Starbucks
6:15 am - be down behind the Harbor House / Willie G's area to watch the Magic 'round the jetties to the right in our view.
7:00 am - pending weather, the Magic should be docked

We have had the following respond so far:
- SaraCat x 2
- gonecrusin x 3
- Stevie x 1
- MandyGirl x 1 (or a couple more - sleepyheads)

Looks like there are other crazies out there with me ;)

I asked a while back but don't think anyone responded.

Anyone going on the EBTA and then the first Med? I haven't kept up with the Med thread and I can't remember who I've seen posting there. We're going to be on that cruise but are meeting up with more family on it. Just wondering which of the EBTA crew will be joining us on the next cruise.

:crowded:

We are doing the B2B with the Adventures of Disney add on. Val & Bob

Okay, okay. I *know* the Til We Meet Again Luncheon isn't the most exciting event (and as was mentioned previously, is actually a sad thing to have to organize haha), but I only have 14 adults and 7 children signed up so far, and four of those people are my family!

I know there are more SM folks out there at least!

Yvette, how many SM in all?

On the 2011 PC cruise we did, they switched off the front deck lights for stargazing as a special one-off. It was a really neat experience :thumbsup2

Ohh that be so awesome.. I wouldn't want to miss that for the world if that happens on this cruise... Just how to learn about this is the question....

Awesome pic!

Thank you so very much... :goodvibes :thanks:

Always wanted to do this but can never get far enough away from the light pollution - I'd be up for giving it a go - You never know, on a really still wave night we might be lucky with the motion.

One of the nice thing living far away from big cities. That is shot in our backyard. That picture was a 30sec exposure and you can see a hint of movement in the stars from the earths rotation. Being on a moving ship a 30sec exposure would create a considerably amount of trails on the stars I'm afraid. Even if we where laying still, gentle sea movement would cause trails on the stars would be my guess. But willing to give it a try. :scratchin

Might need a bit of fairy dust... :tinker:

Amazing photo, Eje!! :goodvibes That's what I am hoping to see. I'm clueless with all the photography language you guys have been speaking, but I might just have to be the fly on the wall tagging along here and there to absorb some of your tidbits! I'm usually the one behind the camera in our family.

Thank you Mandy. Hang around and you might pick up a few things ;)
If there is interest I be happy to give some photography lessons in exchange for a drink ;) :teacher: :drinking1

Photography is a big passion of mine and I continually strive to improve and learn to make better photos.

:thanks:

That picture, wow, wow, wow!

Eje, that photo is breathtaking. Wow!

Thank you all so very kindly for the very nice comments. :goodvibes :thanks:

So on past TA cruises, was there any organized stargaing at night? The conditions should be ideal in the middle of the Atlantic (if they turn down the lights on deck) Any chance there is a telescope on board? No way I can pack mine!

Peter, the cruise director did the star gazing on pirates night on WBTA in 2011 it was a fantastic experience, and we saw the milky way which was really colourful ttxx

On the cruise to Hawaii, they turned off the deck lights for stargazing too. There was a special stargazing "class" that was held to explain what we were seeing on several nights.

That would explain why I missed it on that cruise... Was tired with the later time changes and even missed pirate show. The kids and I were asleep while hubby went by himself.

Eta... Love Peter! Had him in November. He shared he would not be on EBTA due to vacation schedule

Aww... you forgot about crazy banana guy who signed up before there was a sign up... ;)

I'm down.

Kim and I are in. Well, me anyways, I think Kim isn't sure she can do it. Me, I'm ready to go now. :drive:

I can't join you but plan on watching from the computer at the hotel, this will be my first cruise that I will not have seen come in.

We also think Peter CD is great, very good dancer on Pirate Night, for some reason others opinion differ, that said this will mean that Darren Ferguson will be the CD on the EBTA 2013. Just in case you didn't know Darren was born in Scotland, however he states "United Kingdom" on his CM badge. Of course being DCL that will mean Brent will be on the EBTA. Whoever it is, I am sure we shall have a great time.

Roll some dice to see who it will be? ;) Of course Sarah will have the first-hand insight that preceding week! Whoever it is, I agree - we will have a fantastic time. :cool1:

Copied this message from the DISboard forum in case you haven't seen it:

"We've been asked to share the following letter that DCL will start delivering to guests in the coming weeks.

Thanks,
PEte

Dear Guests,

We are glad that you have joined us aboard the Disney (Choose Ship)!

As you may be aware, it is important to us to keep our facilities looking their best for all our guests. As part of our commitment to this area of focus, we ask that you do not affix anything to your stateroom door utilizing tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives. We have found that these adhesives damage the finish on our stateroom doors; therefore we ask that you limit door decoration to those of the magnetic variety.

Concurrently, we ask that guests not use over-the-door hanging organizers as they have been found to scratch and/or disfigure stateroom doors and trim.

Guests found with damaged doors are assessed a $100 damage fee per incident to cover the cost of repairs.

Your attention to this matter will greatly assist us in keeping our shipboard environment looking ship-shape. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Guest Services, Deck 3 Mid-ship.

If interested, magnetic door decorations are available for purchase in our merchandise area. For your convenience, magnetic strips are also available at Guest Services.

We appreciate your cooperation and hope you have an enjoyable sailing.

Sincerely, "

Thanks for posting, Val! :thumbsup2 Here's the link for anyone wanting to see the discussion over there today (or pictures of what some have posted to help clarify).

We had Peter as CD on our last cruise - my kids thought he was terrific and my DS was desperate to get his picture taken with him.
