May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

Thanks. Being a latecomer, I am still trying to figure out airlines and hotels. Who knew that Galveston was so hard and expensive to get to, and there is only one rental car place..:confused3 who knew?? Besides, I am coming from Chicago..should be easy, but no..

If anyone knows a Hoston hotel with shuttle to and from airport, let me know.

lol, I didn't want to bother with Houston hotels, shuttles, etc. I'm high-tailing it to Galveston using http://galvestonlimousineservice.com/iah.html. $55/pp for us 2 people was just easier in my mind.

That and I want to see the Magic sail into the harbour. I am easily amused, I know it. popcorn::

Mojito is not offered, but we have Tequila & Margarita Tasting for $15.00 per Guest.

Disappointing, but what can we do? :confused3

Anyone have experience with this tasting? Do they do Tequila straight? Or always mixed in something. DW and I are not straight Tequila fans.

I called DCL and the very nice CM said that Disney only has transportation from IAH - Busch intl..not hobby? Is that right?? SW has a $90 one way fare, which sounded good to me..

There has been a lot of miscommunication on this. My travel agent has called, and it's noted on my reservation to have transfers from Hobby.

One of the confusing things, is that they supposedly have DCL transfers from Hobby, through our cruise. When they return to Galvestion in the fall, they will only be going from IAH.

I haven't checked with DCL or my TA in quite awhile on this, but again, my reservation states transfers from Hobby to port. I think I'll send a note to my TA again, just in case.

Mandygirl, I just wanted to check the pj breakfast is still going ahead, as I know Tink was organising at decided to leave the boards. Preumably it doesn't need someone to "organise" it as such, as we were all just going to turn up in our pyjamas? If any organising does need doing I would be happy to do it. Kids have already got their pj's sorted, its just me now!

May I just answer the question? I think someone needs to coordinate and be sure we can all sit together at the restaurant. Plus, that person may want to arrange for a DCL photographer if people are interested.

I was holding out hope Tink would return before I updated post # 1 on the coordinator name.

Still holding out hope :goodvibes

But yes, we will still have it. I coordinated it on our WBTA so am familiar with it. I do not mind jumping in at all. Same plans - 8:45am first sea day - continue signing up with link - and I will let them know about it it with our count once onboard. Plus still have lanyard name badges available from previous day should anyone miss picking their's up. The only requirement that day would be they *have* to be wearing PJs to pick it up ;)

We will meet in front of Lumiere's deck 3 atrium area at 8:45 for a group picture then proceed inside at 9 am.

We had two private DIS Mojito tastings on WBTA 2011. They need to stop making these changes ;)

I'd be up for margaritas! After all, it is from Tejas to España :thumbsup2

Ok, well I am more than happy to do that if thats ok? I will just need pointing in the right direction of who to contact though, is it just dcl themselves and can I do it by email, or is there a specific contact (such as the person the ladies have been taking to about mixology etc)?

Eeek - just came across this. Sorry if I jumped in too soon.

No, nothing is done with DCL in advance. No emails, tickets, etc. because this is during a normal opening time of the restaurant and not a private event. It is all done onboard once you board. I notified Guest Services as well as dining staff (deck 3 forward) immediately upon embarkation to give a heads-up of date/time/headcount. I also stopped by early the morning of as a follow-up.

We essentially had one side of Lumiere's reserved for us, and as we walked in were seated wherever amongst each other. No set table numbers - just shared dining at tables of various sizes, all in one area of the restaurant.

Photographer - a CM was around to take a picture but can also notify the Shutters staff as well as a heads-up.

:rotfl2: that is spill you diet coke out you nose funny.

Heck, after all the different communications we have heard from DCL - both via phone and via email (like one I received last summer that essentially contradicted itself) he *should* do that. Just make runs to and from Hobby all day. Free stop by Specs on the way for those making beverage purchases ;)

BTW - If you haven't flown into Hobby yet - small airport and easy to get in/out of.

Me too! We have a 6-hour layover coming home on Iceland Air (from Iceland post-cruise) so I have some breathing room this time.
We have a 4.5 hour layover on our way home :headache:. By the time we get to our house, we'll have been traveling for 24 I really hope the girls are up to the task :goodvibes

I think that all you would have to do is once on board ask the restaurant manager where the event is being held how we could all sit together. If you wanted to do a picture, you might want to check with the photo people on board. However, if someone else has done this and knows better, I bow to their expertise.

Thanks for the heads up on the new FE list. I have started making mine last week and I'm going to be making them for the next few weeks. I need to stay on top of them. I even started packing for the trip too. Hopefully I'll find some good deals at the after-Easter sales for little trinkets to bring with on the trip.
We are all getting excited.

Last tequila tasting I did (actually last week on the Dream) we where provided, 3 straight tequilas (Patron silver, Patron Aneyo, Patron Reposado) and a Margarita.

But almost every tequila tasting I done been bit different, one was bunch of different margaritas on one it was similar as last week's but instead of a Margarita we where offered Patron XO Cafe (think Tequila version of Khalua).

The tastings are up to the bartender that run the tasting, no tasting (any kind) on two different cruises been the same. Even last year when we did a B2B and did Martini tasting on both and they enter completely different, not a single same drink, but was different bartenders running them (both guys was on both cruises, so it wasn't that one "left").

So you never really know.

I'm not interested in tequila tasting at all. Not a huge fan of margarita tasting either, so if those are our choices, please remove me from the tasting. Sorry, I'm not a tequila fan :(

So some of us will be down to cheer you back into port early that May 18 morning!! :dance3:

Here's a teaser for those who haven't seen this previously: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdK0yLGX6D8

That's the first time the ship sailed into Galveston as a homeport (Sept 22, 2012). They opened the pier, had security, and you can see how close we got. There are other places we will be able to watch from along the water as the Magic sails by that morning. If like our cruise in November, you will sail past the terminal slightly, do a 180-turn, and move into port. This video she backed in.

Chocolate, I am going to be the first one if they do it..

I called the TA this morning and arranged for DCL transfers from HOBBY...:confused3 so the saga continues.
