May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I got added to the waitlist today. FINALLY after speaking to 3 people. They couldn't tell me when we would find out either. It should not be this difficult or require so many followups but hopefully we get it worked out. I tried for 3 nights and will decide once they clear depending on any airfare changes.
Okay so I called my friend today to get the full story and she is on a wait list for the hotel. She did check the hotel and there is space so I am not sure why Disney does not just add more rooms. We will see how it all works out.

I found this on DCL website...
Dress Code
At Palo, dress pants and shirt or jacket is required for men and a dress or pantsuit is required for women. Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes.

Is it really a jacket for men at brunch?

According to DCL's website, they do not distinguish between brunch or dinner for "dress code".....

And, for risk of being flamed (I looked for the flame-proof suit icon but didnt' quickly find it), that being said - I have seen people there in shorts/buttondown shirts for brunch (no-no for dinner, that they do enforce) and I have also seen people there in flip-flops.......

We all know there are some here that would prefer that DCL strictly enforce the dress code, but I also know that I personally don't care what you wear - if you wanted to come naked it'd be OK with me - :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Omg no way! Look at Tony's FB - he ALSO broke his front fake tooth/crown/whatever that 1/4 tooth tip is called this weekend! He is such a geek, he broke it....wait for it...playing his jaw harp HAHAHAHA!!!

Glad you both got them fixed! And yeah, the cost definitely would supplement a cruise haha.

These teeth. For being little things they can cost soooo much money... and cause soooo much pain! Last year when my root canal as a teenager was failing, and my (now former) dentist said the bump on my gum was "nothing to worry about", I eventually got to the point I was ready to get a pair of plyers after the tooth. Never had a cavity before, but have an implant in my 30s. Thank you, tomboy years :rotfl:

Galveston limo. Recommended by Dreams Unlimited. I didn't do any research on it. But I'm not upset with them. They dealt with it without being on hold for hours.

Talking about luck, I flew to London last night and Air Canada decided they didn't want to bother with sending my bag with me. They apparently figured my bag wanted to spend some time apart so sent it to Toronto. Brand new bag. I cannot wait until this cruise. :lmao:

I have lots and lots of patience, but that would have almost been the straw....

Hey all, I'm new to this board / group, and I'm so excited to read stuff from other fellow travelers! I've been on lots of cruises before but never a TA one and never a Disney one. So I've got lots of questions (which I won't ask right now - can someone point me to an appropriate place to ask questions??) and I'm excited to learn more!

:) Melanie

Welcome aboard, Melanie!! :cheer2: Yes - like others have posted - feel free to peruse the first two pages and ask any questions. By working together it helps make it an even more amazing cruise!! In fact, the number one reason we booked EBTA was because of the great friends we made on WBTA in 2011. And then someone when I had NO plan whatsoever of booking WBTA 2014, I now have a reservation :rolleyes1

Just booked my ground transportation from Hobby to Galveston through Disney. The $30 per person was the best I could find, plus I like that it is through them and takes out a third party element.

It will be a relatively quick drive straight down I-45 for ya. Not the prettiest area but you are a straight shot to the Mickey Ship :goofy:

I am pretty sure you wouldn't want to see me (or DH) naked. :scared1: That would be about enough to make anyone jump ship haha

Glad to hear that we don't have to dress up as fancily as for dinner. I feel weird dressing up to go to a buffet haha.

Our t-shirts arrived today and we have booked transport to and from the various airports - except Barcelona, we've got plenty of time before our flight so we'll just play that one by ear. All that's left to do now is make some new door magnets and we're all set :)

:rotfl:

And I agree, I couldn't care less what others wear :confused3. But if you chose to come naked, could you let us know ahead of time :rolleyes1

BTW, for brunch my DH wore a colored dress shirt and tie (with hidden Mickeys) with khaki pants and he wore a suit for our dinner. This time he isn't going to pack the full suit and he'll wear a dress shirt and tie at dinner and brunch.

Yay! I've got to start thinking about magnets as well, is it more cost effective to go to Hobbycraft and get some magnets?

I normally just get a couple of packs of magnetic paper from our local 'cheap shop' - a pack of 5 sheets is only a couple of pounds and I can get 5 or 6 magnets on each sheet. :)

I know I've read it here before, but I can't find it.

Is there a dress code for Palo brunch? I'm assuming you don't need a jacket/tie for brunch - I'm guessing it's more casual (maybe no shorts, etc), but pants/polo shirt OK?

Is it really a jacket for men at brunch?

for brunch the dress code is very relaxed...they have never turned me away in flip flops (very dressy ones) even at dinner. I have seen men asked to tuck in their shirts or get a jacket (only at dinner). Capri's are acceptable for brunch, but no t-shirts at all - ever.

That being said - I have seen wife beaters at California Grill, so I guess DCL is stricter than most.

ABOUT DOOR MAGNETS...use extra strong ones...The Magic's doors have been painted SO many times that the metal is very well protected, and the magnets fly off every time the door closes. We had flying mickeys every single time! Lost many of them :(

Hey Bev - you are going to see a lot of us aren't you!!

This is for the Rent a Princess. From what I understand you can request 2 tickets per child. Not sure about the ages but if you have a child that does not want to go and can get tickets, please let me know. If you have extra tickets due to either having kids that aren't going or parents that aren't going please let me know. They are some adults that would like to attend. I will match up the unused tickets with those who need them. We are not sure what day it is on or what time. Evidently they assign that when on board based on how many kids are on board. If I have left anything out please let me know! Thanks!

I need to add that an adult must accompany a child. Mandy said she was pretty sure the person who gets the tickets will have to enter with the "princess" she is accompanying, and many devise a meeting time and place prior to the event. They also exchange cabin numbers to call one another once the ticket date/time has been announced as we had two teas last time. Usually at Lumiere's. HTH.

Bumping!
