May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

Hi All,

I've just found this thread and wow what a lot of information!

Thought I'd just do a quick post to introduce myself before I head back to the first page and see what I can sign up for!

We are heading over from the UK just to take the cruise back to Europe! Our party is myself, my wife, and 2 daughters (14 & 6). This is our 4th Disney Cruise (2 Europe & 1 Alaksa) and we have managed to get a balcony for the first time!

Steve

Welcome! My boys will be 7, so more kiddos around the same age now!

We had to add Passport details as well as credit card for on board spends, and it can be one per person if you want. We didn't need ESTA details which is good as we' leaving it until nearer the time. Hope you get what you want.

Thanks very much Dee - that's what we are doing too with the ESTA's. Suddenly thought this morning that they may want them and didn't know if I would get them in time for Monday :)

Panic over, thank you :)

My TA called today with all of our flight information from Disney. We were able to get good seats the only bummer is they fly us out at 6:10 the morning before so we get into Houston just after 1. Guess that we will have time to do something in Houston. So if you have Disney air you should hear soon as well.

Welcome!

When/where you flying from? We're flying from Heathrow on 17th. My daughter is also 14, feel free to pm me with an email address for the girls to start chatting if you want to. My daughter is already chatting to a couple of the girls on here, will be nice for them to "know" each other when they get onboard!

So excited that you already have your flight info :yay: I hope we get ours soon. Bummer about the early flight, but you'll have plenty of time to rest of up and be ready for the cruise :cool1:

Isn't it amazing what kids absorb?!? Our 6 year old has always traveled with us (and now our 2 year old) and some people just don't understand why we let them travel with us. Well, okay, in March we are going to Costa Rica without the kids, but it's our tenth wedding anniversary. And we left them at home for hubby's 40th birthday trip to Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. But every other trip they have been with us. I love hearing my oldest talk about her memories of the trips - and she knows so much! The very best way to learn and bond as a family.

We give our grandchildren flags from the states and countries they have visited. That gives them a clear visual of all the places they have been and encourages them to think about new places to go. They love to get their new flags which are given out at dinner when we are in a new place.

Yay for getting the flight info! :thumbsup2 We usually fly first thing in the morning - so I feel your pain with having to get to the airport at o-dark-thirty. However, once you are checked into your hotel room, you will feel fantastic for already having the hardest part of the trip behind you (except for tearful disembarkation...)

Very cool! We have a large map on the wall for each child, and mark with a small sticker. Write the year on the sticker. Our souvenir is a magnet that is placed on the freezer across from the map. I wish the series "Goodnight, Moon" had more places as those books have been fun to purchase -- reading them before a trip, on the flight, and months later bring back the memories. I am going to try to be better about getting passports stamped on this cruise. She had several stamps in her old passport, and just had to get it renewed for the first time. During the time we are away for this trip, we will step foot in 9 countries before we return home, so hopefully we break the new passport in well. :goodvibes The other thing our older one loves is earning her junior ranger badges at the National Parks. Smoky Mountains are later in March - which will be a first for hubby as well as he's never been.

I can't agree more. The kids will remember these memories -- seeing different people, places, and culture, as well as the best way to spend time...together! Not many kids end up being Elite members from flying so much, but it is all worth it to me!

We're excited, but our grandson (8) is absolutely over the moon. He makes friends easily and wants to meet people from all over the US and around the world. A couple of months ago, our Egyptian waiter and Bryan had quite a conversation. Travel truly broadens our perspective on everything, doesn't it.

It is truly wonderful to teach our kids that we are not the only country in the world - gives them a unique "world view" that others who have not gotten the opportunity to travel just don't have - IMHO it also makes them think more about others.....it's wonderful!

Ours have traveled with us since they were less than a year old, we always take them everywhere with us!

Since mine are so tech oriented (and more so this last year as they have really been pushing technology in the elementary and middle school) we do up a Google Map for each trip so they can see where they are going and where they've been!

Mandy, this is all very, very cool!

In September on the Fantasy, they were still providing the H2O Sea Salt Body Wash in concierge. Same packaging as years before. In Jan/Feb 2011 when we sailed on the Dream the suites had Elemis products, not the usual H2O.

As of late January 2013, the Magic was still using H2O in their staterooms-- and if you asked for Sea Salt Body Wash by name (as I did), it was provided gratis.

Oh I hope so! We are bringing body wash, but we really love the sea salt one as well!
