~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Good Morning Beautiful Belinda!!! Does everyone's cruise docs come via UPS or are you special (which we know you are) because of the vow renewal? Just not sure what to expect........
WOW!!!!!!! I haven't started yet. Not sure how it will work out but got some tips from Kym which should help. I hope to work on that tomorrow!
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the concern. I'm doing MUCH better today. I went to the DR and I can get my IV out tomorrow!!! WOO HOO!! That means I will have full use of my right hand and can drive. I've been going stir crazy!
I can use 3 fingers on my left hand and can kinda bend my other 2. I can now hold things in my left if they are light, but still no pressure.
I'll be continuing oral antibiotics for another week and then re-evaluate. Starting hydro therapy as well. Infection sure did a number on my tendons.
Thanks Dr. Cinda for the understanding update! :D
:banana::banana::banana:Woo Hoo!:banana::banana::banana:
Princess JorDan -- that is FANTASTIC news!!!!! I am so glad you are finally on the mend.
Do the folks care if the tips are on CC or do they prefer cash? If we prepay we just get a slip to give them right? I would rather pay with credit card -- more points!!!!!
It is POURING here. Yucky, gloomy, dark. Not really helping to get me that base tan I was hoping for before the cruise. I guess the good thing is I can work on magnets and FE gifts ....as soon as I finish Breaking Dawn :rolleyes1
Good Morning Carole!!! It's ok. I had to be dragged into the Twilight series but seriously hadn't read much except for Harry Potter for years. It is just hard to find the time when the kids are really small. Now that they are getting older, I can really start to enjoy a good book! Don't apologize for not being a Survivor fan. I am sure there are many things I AM a fan of that I should apologize for! :rotfl:
But but but Sweet Amanda, you are on Deck 6 with us!!! :banana::banana: We'll all have fun. I am planning on making lots of magnets (let's see if my planning works). I hope it works out!
Ok, I need another cup of coffee! :surfweb:
Just think, in 4 weeks at this time, we will be en route to the port!!!!! :dance3:
Mati , You do need your coffee this am. You called me Amanda and i'm Crystal but i do like the sweet sweet part. I'll never get my magnets done my printer just broke.,but hubby is on his way to staples to get another one... since that one is only eight days old. phew started to panic. Have a great day!:woohoo:
I've finished my magnets (a total of 6 pages worth but most are not for my door)! I bought the sheets from Hobby Lobby and printed them with a Brother Inkjet printer. I initially used a "normal" quality print setting, but it wasn't as clear as I had hoped. I then used the "high" quality print, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference. Overall, they look fine but just aren't as "sharp" as I was hoping.
I've ordered transfers for T-shirts as well from a Diser. I'm wonderfing if I should try another printer. I have a Cannon photo printer here at the house, but I'd need to buy ink for it. I may give it a shot, just to see if I can improve quality!
BTW Noting that I still have big scabs on my toe 6 weeks after the procedure, I broke down and actually called the doc's office to ask if this was "normal." (I should know these things myself, but my impatience with this process is beginning to show and I just HAD to be told that having scabs for over 6 weeks is normal...) Even though I just asked for the nurse to call me (didn't want to bother my hard-working collegue about a toe scab on a Friday afternoon), the doc called me anyway and said that the scabs could be on my toe for a total of 10-12 weeks!:scared1::eek: As a result, I've already bought some black patent Mary Janes for "dress up nights" (as well as the Landsend MJ's) and am trying to figure out how to handle the pool. I'm certainly NOT infectious or anything like that, but I'd hate for someone to see these things and flip-out! So....it's looking like I'll be wearing lots of waterproof bandaids (just to cover this) unless some miracle occurs and they come off in a couple of weeks! (The cruise would be 10 weeks...so we'll see...)
The blessing is that I won't have to deal with pain, swelling, redness, etc. on the cruise!!! Ok...enough of my "vent" session...
This is nothing serious and is not even close to comparable to what Jordan has been through, but it's a good lesson that we don't always heal as quickly as we'd like. (BTW Jordan... If your doc thinks you are good enough, I'd ask about physical therapy as it might help you get back to normal a little faster!)
Carole: Don't apologize for not liking Survivor! It's not an "addiction" I'm proud of... I'm kind of with you on the concept of the books. I just can't imagine being that interested in something that I don't believe even exists. But, maybe I'll break out of my little shell and read the books eventually. Just like the DaVinci code and those types of things, I don't necessarily "buy" the concepts but read them just so that I can speak intelligently (and participate) in conversations about these books!
Ahoy shipmates!! What a beautiful day here!! Hope you're all having a lovely Saturday!
I just prepaid my basic tips ($165.00 for the two of us), plus prepaid what I expect to be all our onboard costs. I know it is silly, but it feels "free" to me if I pay it before I go! I am so, so, so ready to go cruising now. :woohoo:
That is a great idea! What does that cover - all the servers and stateroom host?
Probably me saying that you could get a deluxe for a good price. I think that the best time to go is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you go right at Christmas it is expensive and VERY crowded. We have gone about two weeks before Christmas and it was great. Remember also that the closer you get to Christmas the colder it will be.
I checked for Christmas time in 2009 and for a Studio at the Beach Club Villas (a deluxe) for one week, December 12th thru December 19th and the cost would be $1,040 for those seven nights. That is the total price including tax. I have a couple of people that I rent points from and they can make reservations at the Beach Club Villas eleven months ahead. So if you wanted to go December 2010 you would make reservations in January 2010.
This is the BEST way to stay at Disney at a Deluxe. You should go check out the Beach Club and Boardwalk area while you are there in May, it just a five minute walk out the back of EPCOT.
Let me know if you need any help or we can talk on the cruise.
<
Oh yes that was it! Wow that is a great price, I would really love to do that. I am looking at Disney from 10th - 19th December 2010, and then the Disney Wonder for 4 days from 19th (but can switch this all around, as long as we are there in December is the main thing!!). Is it possible to hire points for 10 days (doesn't matter if not, we could do a hotel as well for a few days). It would be really great if you could be our guiding light with this, as we have no idea how it works!!:flower3: Thanks so much for the help!
We have been to Disney twice during Christmas. Nothing like it. We really liked the Osborn lights.
When I woke up this morning I was back on to the Med cruise, but now I'm all about Christmas at Disney again!
I was going to send out the list on Sunday, but I can send it out today instead. No need for you to wade through everything.
Thank you for doing the list! :banana: I am now going to get started! I have my Disney planning DVD on, and hgave sent Tony outside to do the weeding . . . does life get better?!:goodvibes
I know we talked about this awhile back but how much are you guys doing with door magnets? I have 3 right now and thought that was all I was going to do, but now I'm really considering making more!!! Especially since there are soo many of us on Deck 2! :banana:
I have already done loads, but after receiving Loucinda's template in the middle of the night (thank you Loucinda :thumbsup2) I have just gone out and bought another pack!!!:rotfl2: Not going to be able to find our door handle to get in the room soon!!!
Glad you are starting to feel a little better :goodvibes. What a horrible time you have had :hug:
I was thinking of making T-Shirts, but am going to leave it for the shop at DTD now. So little time left!
Glad your toe is coming along . . . come on little scab, drop off!!!
Its so funny you saying you can't imagine being that interested in something that you don't believe exists - last night I was reading until long past midnight (for those who have read them I am at the bit where the "tracker" gets her scent during the baseball game). I was so scared when I finally went to bed I had to wake Tony up to come to the bathroom with me!!!!!! I was convinced the stairs were going to be filled with vampires! I completely freaked myself out!!!! Tonight I am reading my Disney guide books in bed!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
I was just wondering how many of us Dis Key Lime Pirates are dressing up on Pirate night? What about husbands. I'm still trying to convence my hubby too.
Hi Vanessa . .. is it possible to have your mum and sisters names for the fish extenders?? No probs if not!
Yes you can rent for 10 days. For this year (2009) the cost would be between $1,620 - $1,950 for 10 days in a Studio Dec. 11th - 21st. The points for 2010 are not out yet so the price may be a little higher.
Yeah, yeah...the sharks sucked wind last night. If we lose this series we'll root with you for the Ducks on the cruise if they get to that round. Ok, Jim says that he'll watch the games and drink, but he doesn't knoe if he can root for the ducks.
LOL, Will they have the games on the ship? I would love to sit and watch my ducks win the STANLY CUP on my wonderful Disney Cruise!!! LOL:happytv: (Hopeful Thinking!!!):wizard:
Ashley and I are dressing up for sure...I HOPE OUR TABLE Will to so we don't look to ridiculous!!! lol:rotfl:
Sweet sweet sweet CRYSTAL -- I am soooo sooooo sorry!!!! :guilty: I see the Tink and know it is you or Amanda and I spaced this morning!!!! Ok, CRYSTAL CRYSTAL CRYSTAL -- I will get it right by the cruise!!!! :)
I was just wondering how many of us Dis Key Lime Pirates are dressing up on Pirate night? What about husbands. I'm still trying to convence my hubby too.
Crystal (see, doing better already!) we are dressing up to a point. The kids have full on costumes, head to toe. I bought Yoni a skill and crossbones shirt from Old Navy this week so he will wear that with a headband/eyepatch. I am not sure how I will dress up but I am dressing up!
Ok, off to make lunch for the kids.....
I have got myself a snazzy pirate hat! I may buy an eye patch or something if I see one before we go. Tony has a pirate bandana, t-shirt and cutlass from the Princess and Pirate party last year (though I am worried about getting the cutlass through customs)!!!
Mati,
I think i'm going all out i figure this way it's one less dress i have to find. I found two really cute costumes but can't make up my mind. One is a bit sassy. One is just fun. I'm not in shape so i think i'm leaning towards the fun one lol. I'm gonna ask DH see if he has a preference.
My DD Coral will be dressing up. Not sure about the rest of the bunch yet. I'm sure they will wear bandannas. They use to give them out for free on the cruise not sure they still do?? I'm getting so excited! We are gonna have a blast since we have such a nice group of peeps on here.
I'm happy you guys are. So i won't feel so odd. On our last cruise only like two couples were in full dress,but alot of shirts,bandannas,eye patches were worn because Disney gave them out. I'm so excited Pirate night is my favorite!:cool1:
GREAT tip about paying your tips in advance. I'm so going to set that up on Monday. The less cash I have on me for paying tips/excursions...the better! hehe
Hopefully starting magnets next weeks. I still need to finish Demetris FE, but need my left hand in order to sew! UGH! Got the rest of our FE Gifts supplies, now to just put them together.
Hope you all have a great weekend. It snowed 10 inches on Tuesday, so good thing I'm stuck inside or else I'd be heading for the hills with my IV Freedom tomorrow!
Yay, that's great to hear that you are starting to be able to move your other 2 fingers. And 10 inches of snow, eww.... this past week was mostly rainy for us but today is beautiful. I've been outside vaccuming my car, working in the flower bed, and walking the dogs... it feels like it's in the mid 70s. Love it!
I too have lots of magnets for the door. I have been making them for the three cabins we have. I have been laminating them and sticking magnets on them rather than using magnet paper. My family think I am nuts making so many , but what the heck!!
I also laminated and then used sticking magnets; however, the magnets have been pretty contrary sticking to the laminate. I've tried super glue but it's kind of hit or miss. I think I might see if I can pick up some magnet paper somewhere.
I bought the sheets from Hobby Lobby and printed them with a Brother Inkjet printer. I initially used a "normal" quality print setting, but it wasn't as clear as I had hoped. I then used the "high" quality print, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference. Overall, they look fine but just aren't as "sharp" as I was hoping.
We have a Brother printer too and I also wanted the quality to be a littler sharper. I guess I was thinking more "photo" like but they haven't turned out that way. :mad: Oh well, they are still pretty cute.
I was just wondering how many of us Dis Key Lime Pirates are dressing up on Pirate night? What about husbands. I'm still trying to convence my hubby too.
I'm not doing too much, right now I think I'm going to wear my black capris and I have a black and white striped top that has a sash on it that I've always though looked kind-of piratey. I hope they still give the bandanas! I'm not sure about Jason. He has one shirt that may pass as pirate like, but I might check out the mall tonight becuase he still needs another pair of dress pants and dress shoes.
Belinda asked me awhile back about dressing for any of the themed nights in the clubs - 80s night, 70s night, rock, country. I think it would be cute to do something little, but am afraid my suitcase is going to end up weighing 200 pounds. :confused3
Lynsey,
Thanks for reminding me about the nights in the clubs. I so forgot about them. I have a retro black,grey & white 70's dress that is so perfect. Very old but perfect anyhow. Will it fit that's the? I'm driveing so i'll make it fit.
I never thought about gluing the magnets being a problem. I am going to have to try a few and see if there is a problem for me.
I didn't know about the theme nights. Sounds like fun!
After Halloween I picked up pirate hats, patches, etc for the guys to wear. They said they would. Time will tell. I also bought some material to make sashes for the ladies. Got some big, gaudy, gold necklaces to wear.
The green bracelets look great. I'm sure that my DD is going to be obsessed with finding other people with bracelets on. So if a 4 year old girl starts yelling that she sees another bracelet at the top of her lungs, that'll be my girl...:laughing:
Love Survivor. I've watched every season. I'm behind on this weeks episode and haven't seen it yet. I'll have to watch it later and catch up to everyone.
I wish I could go to Disney for the xmas season, but with my work there's just no way I can travel in December. I'll just have to live vicariously through others and read their trip reports.
I have a big work banquet that I'm putting on next Saturday so I have lots of work to do with that this upcoming week. After that's over I can concentrate on my FE's and magnets.
Pirate night is just going to be t-shirts for the 3 of us. I can have Chris not shave for a day or two and he totally looks like a Pirate! pirate:
JorDan -- glad to hear you are feeling better.
Gotta run and get some work done around the house! :laundy:
On our cruise, there were quite a few couples in full dress...It was really fun!
Hi, I am so impressed with this thread started by Hudson and Lennon's mom waaaaay back in 2007!
My sister and I and 2 of her 3 daughters are going on this cruise, too. We are extremely excited.:cool1:
Our husbands, my sister's oldest daughter and my two teenage sons are too cool and/or two busy, so this is a girls-only trip.
About us--I live 5 minutes west of D.C. and my sister lives in our hometown in Connecticut. We are the best of friends, and we go to WDW 4 to 6 times a year to see eachother and we bring whoever wants to go with us. My sister was nice enough to have a "surprise" baby at age 42 (very thoughtful of her to provide me with such a cute little girl to dote on), so now we have a really good excuse to keep up this WDW addiction! This little one is now 5, and will turn 6 on May 22--perfect excuse for our first ever Disney cruise!
This is our cast:
Me (Barbara), 51 (I am still "40-Something," 40-Eleven to be exact)
My sister (Mary Ellen), 48
My niece (Alexandra), 15--the Stephanie Myers fan
Birthday girl niece (Calista), 5
We have early seating
We are in 8022 (Cat 3)
We are really excited about the shows and the Pirate Party. We have not scheduled any excursions yet, but might go see the dolphins in Cozumel. Key West is so great just to walk around and soak up the relaxed feeling.
I look forward to keep up with this thread for the next 27 days!
Welcome! :welcome: A girls only trip. How cool!
I was just wondering how many of us Dis Key Lime Pirates are dressing up on Pirate night? What about husbands. I'm still trying to convence my hubby too.
We are dressing up - the little guy in full pirate costume.
Dennis and I are wearing white ruffle-front shirts with a pirate sash and pirate hats. I found a pair of black capris with a skull/crossbones on the lower leg, piratey flip-flops and some fake jewel rings.
I think it will make a really fun family photo that night :)
Mati - Thanks for the Sweet Sweet talk ;) (even if it wasn't really me:rotfl:)
I'm excited that we are going to be on deck 6 with you guys too :hug:
Although, I'm praying for no rough seas because since we are on deck 6 in the very front, we would feel everything! I joked with mom that she may get all 8 of us trying to sleep on her floor on deck 2 midship!:lmao: Can you imagine!
All I can say, is you may not have had your coffee yet since you got Crystal & I mixed up, BUT.... I want some of whatever you were drinking!!! I'm never that happy to be awake in the morning! You sounded just about giddy! :lovestruc
Thanks for all the comments about my rings! They are terribly dirty :upsidedow, but Jason picked them out all on his own & bought the band to match when he bought the engagement ring. He said he wanted to make sure it was clear that I was VERY married. :rotfl:
No cruise docs yet. Did a little cruise clothing shopping today and decided it's a water diet for me from now til the cruise :scared1: If you're wondering who the crazy person is that is swimming in the pool with their towel still wrapped around them, IT'S ME! :lmao: I gotsta get with it & OMG is my skin so pale that I am reflecting light. :rotfl:
LOL, I remember our Dec 07 cruise. Disney takes a photo of you when you are happily boarding and several during the week. At the end of the trip we were checking the photos & we both looked sick we were so pale in the 1st photo! Each photo after that showed our tanning progress for the cruise! lol
