I was just going through our trip fund and thinking about tipping. My other 3 cruises, my dad did the tipping so I didn't think of it.
Someone posted this tipping advice:

They said those rates are per night and you need to times that by how many people cruise with you.
Either I'm having a "DUHHH" moment or that's a whole lot of money!

How much are you all planning on tipping???

They're not per night but rather per peron based on the length of the cruise. Even these amts seem a tad bit higher than what I have seen. Just yesterday I was figuring it out for my family & my parents. I got this:

Server:
$25.75 x 2 people = $51.50; x 4 people = $103.00
Asst server:
$18.75 x 2 people = $37.50; x 4 people = $75.00
Head server:
$6.50 x 2 people = $13.00; x 4 people = $26.00
Stateroom steward
$25.25 x 2 people = $50.50; x 4 people = $101.00

Total tip $ for 2 people on 7 night (my parents) = $152.50

Total tip $ for 4 people on 7 night (my family) = $305.00


Maybe the recommended amts have gone up, but this is the last I've seen here, in the PassPorter, and in DCL's "fine print." Did anyone on that other thread say anything about increases recently? If so, they would be $168 for 2 people and $336 for 4 people.

I mostly lurk, but here is a bit more information on us. DH will be doing the certified dive tours at both Cozumel and Grand Cayman. I will probably be doing the Callie snorkel in Grand Cayman (unless I decide to go it on my own) and the ruins and tour (on the island, not the mainland) in Cozumel, unless I change to the cave snorkel. We are on late dinner, and got a Palo dinner but no brunch. We are very excited about this trip.

Yes Hercules the MUSEical was on the Magic, I saw it 3 years in a row- 2001, 2002, 2003. All 7 night cruises.

I've seen Most of the cruise shows except Golden Mickeys, Twice Enchanted (or whatever the new Cinderella show was) and now Toy Story the Musical. I really wish Toy Story was on the Magic instead of the Wonder.

Oops! I think I was thinking of Toy Story! That is only on the Wonder. Well, was but no longer is (I think it was taken away). I've only cruised DCL since 2006 and i know that Disney Dreams has improved. We were on the cruise when they did the new version. Hopefully that will be a little different for you!

I just want to say hello to everyone! i havent been posting much ,but have been reading post. I'm not very good at this. All kinda new to me. What is the FE thing? I would love to meet up with all of you. We have early dinner seating. If you do a meet please let me know. I'm very over whelmed some of you are so good at all this. Our 5 yr anniversary is on May 14th right before we go....so we are celebrating it on May 16th!
If you call Disney, they can arrange a birthday or anniversary cake to be at your table for you (Free of charge). We are having a cake on the 16th.

uhhhhh.......rrrrrr.... I was so excited to get our FE off of Ebay. I got it today and the design is perfect. Just want I wanted it to look like. BUT!!!!!

I'm sorry.....It's been crazy, with him being out of work sick, the new house and the wedding....Whew, I sure wish you lived closer!!!

He is doing better, just started back at work today. Trying to get his strength up. I think he's past ready for a vacation now. He goes to the doctor on Thursday so they can recheck his blood count to make sure it has gone back to normal. Gosh, I hope so.
I know he would be been immediatly cured, had I given him some KLP!!!

I took my dress in today for the fitting, it feels so real now. I can't believe it's almost cruise time.

I showed Shawn the pic of you and your hubby. He said, awesome. he's just like me!!! Those Harley guys know their own!!

I am a fulltime college student so time is limited but hopefully I will be more active next week for spring break. I am a few hours away from getting my bachelors degree and my teachers certification to teach high school math.

Oh, I was just thinking about the DIS meets again. I forgot that some of us had talked about maybe meeting up in the Cove Cafe sometime for drinks & desserts. I wonder when would be a good day/time for that...

The FE thing -- FE = Fish Extender. There is a thread active on the main board that might help but to summarize, FEs are things you hang on the fish outside your stateroom that has pockets. Then, folks in your FE group will drop little gifts in the pockets throughout the cruise. You yourself also do the same for others in the FE group. I think we have @25 in our FE group -- gifts are not meant to be expensive or fancy -- it is pretty much whatever you want -- one idea was a recipe. If you want to join up, let us know. I believe Jane (2_Eagle_Mom) is keeping the list.

I am working on a group to link up main and late dining and should have that ready tonight. Right now we are late dining but wait listed for main. We have a son -- Kai (4) and daughter, Sabrina (7) coming with us. My husband, Yoni is celebrating his 35th birthday on ship on the 21st too!!!!

This is my first DCL cruise and only my second cruise ever but this board and group is FANTASTIC!

Welcome and please let us know more about yourself, what excursions you have planned etc....

I read your trying for the main dinner seating. You deffinetly need w/ two younger children. My DD10 fell asleep almost everynight on our last two cruises at dinner. So we decided to go w/ main dinning this time, also this way your not to full to try some of the dessert buffets. We never have always to full. This year plan on sampleing everyone lolAs for our shore excursions we only booked one this far.The four Elements in Cozumel.I think were gonna go to Smathers Beach in KeyWest&my husband wants to go back to a little Resturant called Cheeseburger. He still talks about some odd beer he had ,and the BEST cheeseburger he has ever tasted.
Not sur what were gonna do in Grand Cayman. Lasttime we did the stingray snorkel we loved it! I was also thinking about The seven mile beach& then maybey snorkeling.
I haven't booked Palo yet. I really like to find out the Dinner rotation first. Well i hope to talk to ya soon & looking forward to meeting you. BTW whats your name? Got your kids and husbands ,but not yours. Crystal in PA-
