~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Wow! Thanks for all the great info!!
We hardly drink at all so that's gonna be a lot for us!!! However, what better time than on a cruise!! I can't wait!
Again anyone that wants to join us or is already planning to go let me know and we can meet up. If the tasting are only on sea days, I think I'd like to do the first one if anyone is interested.
DH and I plan on doing the Margarita tasting and the Martini tasting. I'm not sure about the wine or beer tasting. It looks like (from the old Navigators) that the first Margaita tasting will be on Monday at 2:00 PM. The Martini tasting is at 3:00 PM. Meeting up would be great!!!!
Wow!! Thats alot! I hope the ship isn't rockin' to much that day!:sick: :rotfl:
We will probably do the margarita's and the beer tasting. As long as it's on a sea day.
Would love to meet up. That would be great!!
Val, I love your after pic:thumbsup2 You can tell those drinks we're really good!!:drinking1 The hubby and I really need to try it!!
OMG! Margaritas first and then the next hour, martinis? :eek: These were the 2 I was wanting to go to (this is the 4th cruise and since we aren't big drinkers, we haven't gone to one yet)! I didn't even know they had margarita tastings but I knew about the other 3. We might need each other to hold each other up at the end of the 2 hours!!!:grouphug: And then someone might have to come to my room and get me for dinner!!:sick:
I say....let's do it! If I remember right, there's a charge for the tastings. Anyone know what the charges are?
Per Disney these are the movies currently showing on the Magic. He did say that some of these will likely change by May as they add movies monthly....
I am looking forward to seeing Shopaholic and Race to Witch Mountain.
Yes, these will change somewhat. Since there's not a lot of movies being released right now, there's a better chance that these will stay! You really can't count on anything until probably a week before!
Alright!!!:thumbsup2 Sounds like a plan!!!! I am not a big drinker at all and I usually start "feeling it" after ~ 2 drinks but I'll give it a try!!! We'll be on vacation right???? What happens at Disney stays at Disney!!!! :rotfl:
I'm usually the designated driver at home, so I'm really excited to not have that responsibility on the cruise!! :thumbsup2
The 01/24/09 Navigators show the tastings as:
Mon:
2 PM tequila & margarita
3 PM martini
4 PM beer
Thurs:
2 PM tequila & margarita
4 PM beer
I know 2 years ago they had a wine tasting, too, but we're not wine drinkers, so we didn't do that one. Who knows if they'll have it on our cruise or not. Actually, the back of the Navigator from Monday 01/26/09 mentions wine tastings also, but it's not listed in the TVGuide-type listing on pg 2. :confused3 The back of Thursday's says they're $15 per person for each one.
I'm off to gymnastics class for the boys where I'll see my friend who went on the Western last week. I can't wait to hear all about it!!! Now I wish I had asked him to check out the name of the ice cream shop in KW. Snap!
Ok, we're in for the 2pm tequila & margarita tasting on Monday as long as we can get in!! I don't think we could handle more than an hour!! We're really lightweights as far as drinking goes...now food, that's a different story!! :rotfl:
Can't wait to meet some of you guys there!!
Race to Witch Mountain
I am looking forward to seeing Shopaholic and Race to Witch Mountain.
Ooooohhh -- want to see Shopaholic and didn't even know Race to Witch Mountain is out! Sabrina will want to see that with me too! How fun!!!!
For those participating in the FE exchange, will you please let me know your favorite Disney characters?
I already have "inferred" information from Sonia, Tigger2002, Lyndsay, Bellamickey, and Shasses (I know you aren't in the FE, but I made a little tiny something for you anyway.)
I have some nice and "generic" ideas already made, but I'm happy to take requests as well.
You are sooo sweet to make something and ask for this. Loucinda -- you have impressed me to the nth degree and I cannot wait to meet you in person!!! A doctor who makes crafty items -- how impressive is that? Next thing you will tell me you cook too!!! Ok, so for us, since we are a family I say, my vote counts right? ;) I LOVE Ariel but other good options are Tigger (we love his happy go-lucky approach to life) and Wall-E is a big favorite. In the end, our FE is a simple Mickey so I guess -- whatever is easiest or you have the least trouble with?????
:confused3 So it's too late for the KHO offer today? :sad: Is there a penalty for today or what are the specifics? I've never cancelled or even looked into the penalty because I've never needed to cancel. I would probably lose my OBC from rebooking onboard, so I'm trying to figure out what it would save me if I switched to the KHO offer minus the penalty and lost OBC.
ETA: Doesn't look like it would've worked out for me anyway. With my 10% off already, there was only $429 difference between the that and the KHO offer plus I'd lose my $250 OBC ($200 for booking a dummy date onboard plus $50 for rescheduling to this cruise the first week these dates came out--but I'd still keep my $250 OBC from AAA), taking my savings to $179, but it looks like the penalty for cancelling now is the deposit amt ($1000), so it's a no brainer to stick with what I've got. :)
Wouldn't it be GREAT if they offered KHO while we are onboard so we could rebook with this offer AND get the OBC?!?! Would we still get 10% off, too?!?! AND the 50% deposit?!?! C'MON DISNEY...MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR US!! (BTW, who is planning on rebooking? I'd love to have our friends to go with us!)
Ok -- so you definitely got a better deal. Remember, we are first-time cruisers so no 10% discount or $200 OBC. In the end we saved $752!!!:yay: We did lose our $100 OBC I think so it was a net difference of $652. I am so glad I pushed it.
I hope they have this offer when we are onboard. I plan on rebooking! Just not sure when yet. Would love to next summer but there are no 7 days due to the Med & Baltic routes. I guess I have to figure out what we are going to do. Still looking at the Med one but just can't get past that cost!:scared1:
I'm glad to hear you liked the Metabolic testing! We really weren't sure about it since it does cost $30 bucks each but I feel better now that someone else found it useful! Thanks for sharing!
Don't worry, I barely call what I do jogging too!! More like dragging myself around at the slowest place possible. I'm really not very good at the whole running thing but I try my best.
Maybe some of us could meet up on board for spinning! However, I have no idea when it is offered so it would be kind of hard to plan it beforehand. Anyone have any info?
Has anyone done the Margarita tasting on board and if so, how do you book them?
I am in for spin -- let's see if we can't figure out when and plan at least 2 classes? Would be good to exercise at least a few times on the ship.
We (or at least me) are so in for a Margarita tasting!!! Didn't know they had it! Tequila (in moderation) is my drink!!!
We knew it was an hour long, so we thought we'd have that much time to drink our 3 shots of tequila & 2 sampler margaritas (which is still A LOT for me to drink in that amount of time), but that's not the case! :eek: The guy talks for 45 minutes about how tequlia is made, how different qualities are recognizable, etc., and then we drank ALL of it in 15 minutes!!! :scared1: I'm a lightweight, and I was trashed in no time! :laughing: Even Justin was "feeling the effects" very quickly (he's a "seasoned veteran" when it comes to alcohol ;) ). We then had an hour to play some sort of trivia game in the bar (it's a bit fuzzy, though), and then we followed that with the beer tasting. :drinking1 I'm not a beer drinker, so I went along for Justin's sake and just sipped them. It's not like I needed any more alcohol anyway!!
Let me see if I can find pics. If I don't have them on Photobucket already, I'll need to change computers and load them there first. Stay tuned...
BTW, in case you're wondering, the tequilas are Jose Cuervo, Jose Cuervo 1800, and Patron Silver (the ONLY tequila for me), and the margaritas are regular & strawberry. I already know I'll be indulging in MANY strawberry margaritas on the cruise!! Theirs are SO GOOD!! They add Chambord to them (the recipes are given at the tasting), and I've always wanted to try it at home, but that Chambord is so expensive! I guess I buy Patron, so why not splurge on Chambord, too!! ;)
YUMMY! I LOVE Patron! Lately we have Sauza Hornitos just mainly due to cost but Patron is my favorite! I am definitely in although a bit scared. That much tequila in 15 minutes is a LOT!
Wow! Thanks for all the great info!!
We are in. I know I want to do the Margarita & Wine tasting. Yoni will want to do the Martini & Beer tastings but those aren't my thing so if anyone else is going and he could join in -- that would be great. He is doing the wine tasting but is passing on the Margarita tasting so if there are others going, would love to tag along!
Ok -- so update:
1. Got the MagTabs -- WOO HOO!!!
2. Bought a few more FE gifts -- still for the kids, boys this time. The kids are sooooo easy to shop for!
3. Still have not called @insurance
4. Still need to call about transportation -- or at least setup an excel to figure out the best price.
We are staying at the Swan the night before the cruise if anyone is staying there and wants to share transportation? Also, if anyone wants to meet up the day before in that area -- me and kids will be bumming around during the day while Yoni tries to work out of the hotel room. Then we are leaving the kids with the Kids Club and having dinner at the Swan and probably roaming around a bit.
Ok, I am feeling pretty lousy so came home from work early and should really lie down.
My DS is at a taping of Jimmy Fallon's new show in NYC and was taken out of line and asked if he wanted to be on the show!:happytv: He's so excited! If anyone watches it and sees crazy dancers~one of them is mine (the others are his friends)!:rotfl2: The show will be airing tonight. (Bon Jovi :lovestruc and Tina Faye are guests!)
On another more serious note, DH's company issued a travel warning to anyone travelling to Mexico. It's pretty scary. What's even more scarier is my older DS is in the process of applying for Boarder Patrol and will be stationed where the action is if he is hired (he had to chose in advance where he wants to be located on the southern Mexico boarder!). This cruise was to be our final family vacation before he goes off, but he's still in the application process which is very lengthy. I'm not so sure I want him doing this; he gives me gray hairs!:scared1:
Ok, we're in for the 2pm tequila & margarita tasting on Monday as long as we can get in!! I don't think we could handle more than an hour!! We're really lightweights as far as drinking goes...now food, that's a different story!! :rotfl:
Can't wait to meet some of you guys there!!
We're on for the 2pm tequila and margarita tasting on Monday too. I know Shawn would probably like to do the beer one too, hes more of a beer drinker.
We will for sure have to hold eachother up, if we stay the full 2 hours!!:grouphug:
How Many do they let in? Or is it just whoever wants to attend?
Yes, you are on the FE list! I was referring to Shasses, though I didn't make it very clear. (Sorry...) I've already made your little gift based on some of your comments and cruise plans. Don't get too excited, as it's tiny...but thoughtful!
You are a sweetheart. I'm sorry I misunderstood. I get excited about everything!!:banana: It doesn't take much:) I can't wait to meet you in person!
Alright!!!:thumbsup2 Sounds like a plan!!!! I am not a big drinker at all and I usually start "feeling it" after ~ 2 drinks but I'll give it a try!!! We'll be on vacation right???? What happens at Disney stays at Disney!!!! :rotfl:
After 2 beers, things start to get a little :upsidedow for me!! I'm with ya girl!! I like that, What happens at Disney stays at Disney!!:rotfl: That also goes for the pic were all gonna take after the 2 hours!!:rotfl:
First off... The poor economy is hurting doctors just like everyone else, so I'm not that busy! (Plus, I've just opened my new practice and it takes awhile to build a good patient base...) I would LOVE to be too busy to be on Dis boards and making things (and I have been that busy during my 6 years of training), but I'm thankful for the "break" I've had since August!:)
Second...My husband is LUCKY if he gets 10 cooked meals per year! :laughing: (Amazingly, he did get cooked fajitas tonight...but he had to help me to get things done quickly since we were both starving.) I'm not very "domestic," but I like anything that involves "creative gifting."
Third... We did the wine and martini tasting on our other Disney cruise. We aren't that into the wines, but would be happy to do the martini tasting together. Adam would like to do the beer tasting if there is another interested guy (or group of folks he kind of knows) and I would like to do the tequila tasting. There is a special brand of flavored Mexcals about 3 blocks from the Cozumel port, which we will be "sampling" and purchasing. Adam HATES tequila and LOVES this stuff! We were almost "drunk" from the tasting only at this place....they give you these tiny samples. But...they are LOADED with alcohol which you can barely taste! We've been looking forward to buying some stuff at this place for the past 2 years! (We only have one small bottle left!:scared1: )
Mati.... we can send the men to the beer tasting and us go to the margarita tasting!
Last but most important... I hope you start feeling better soon!
BTW About 2 weeks ago, I went with Adam and my parents to a Mexican restaurant. I drank 1 normal margarita (on a relatively empty stomach) and was rather "affected" by it! So...if we do 2 tastings in 2 hours, my evening may be a little blurry...
Guess where..... that's right Dollywood. We live about 1.5 hours from Dollywood and go used to go there often.
Great pictures. We usually make it to Pigeon Forge a few times a year to go to the outlets and the DH and I have gotten into the habit of going at Christmas too. It's only about 3 hours for us so it's a good weekend trip. Maybe after the cruise we all should plan a Dollywood meet! :goodvibes
We stop by the Apple Barn and grab a picnic and head out for the drive and hikes.
We love the Apple Barn (and the fritters)! It's usually a breakfast stop for us every trip.
I wanted to say I'm sorry I haven't been on in a couple days...... I had to call the ambulance on Shawn...turnes out he has a viral infection
I hope Shawn is feeling better, I'm sure you are making a wonderful "nurse". Make sure he takes it easy so he'll be fully recovered in plenty of time for vacation!
Don't worry, I barely call what I do jogging too!! More like dragging myself around at the slowest place possible. I'm really not very good at the whole running thing but I try my best. Maybe some of us could meet up on board for spinning! However, I have no idea when it is offered so it would be kind of hard to plan it beforehand.
I'd be up for spinning too!!! I used to take it quite a bit at our gym a few years ago. I did have a special gel seat though becuase the back seats are just so darn skinny and uncomfortable! I wonder if I should try and through it into the suitcase or maybe since it's Disney their bikes are better!
Okay. Here we go.
The abundance of alcohol
That is soo much to drink! I'd be out on the floor in 30 minutes (well first I'd probably be trying to show off my lack of dance skills and then hit the floor). We hadn't really thought of doing a tasting but you all are definately making it tempting. I'm not a beer drinker at all but DH might like it. I'm leaning more towards the margaritas! And I've never tried a martini so I don't know if I'd like it or not.
Tonights such a busy night, first American Idol and then have to watch The Bachelors after the rose 2. For those of you that watch the bachelor wasn't last night scandelous!?!?
Very cool! I don't think I can stay up that late but I'll see if I can get DH to DVR it.
On another more serious note, DH's company issued a travel warning to anyone travelling to Mexico. It's pretty scary. What's even more scarier is my older DS is in the process of applying for Boarder Patrol and will be stationed where the action is if he is hired (he had to chose in advance where he wants to be located on the southern Mexico boarder!). That is very scary! I can't imagine the stress you must be feeling. I hope you can let it go during the cruise and ENJOY!
First off... The poor economy is hurting doctors just like everyone else, so I'm not that busy! (Plus, I've just opened my new practice and it takes awhile to build a good patient base...) I would LOVE to be too busy to be on Dis boards and making things (and I have been that busy during my 6 years of training), but I'm thankful for the "break" I've had since August!:)
I have no doubt you will have a BOOMING business in no time!
Second...My husband is LUCKY if he gets 10 cooked meals per year! :laughing: (Amazingly, he did get cooked fajitas tonight...but he had to help me to get things done quickly since we were both starving.) I'm not very "domestic," but I like anything that involves "creative gifting."
Ha --- that counts!!! I LOVE fajitas! We eat them once a week. I am at the point now where I go to a "Studio Kitchen" and have them (yes, I even have them do it) pre-assemble meals for me that I can in turn bake in the oven to make that home cooked meal. We had almond crusted fish tonight, parmesean pork chops last night! Add on a veggie and rice and I can act like a little betty crocker!!!!
Third... We did the wine and martini tasting on our other Disney cruise. We aren't that into the wines, but would be happy to do the martini tasting together. Adam would like to do the beer tasting if there is another interested guy (or group of folks he kind of knows) and I would like to do the tequila tasting. Sounds like a plan! The mexcals ... hmmm, may have to check that out!
Last but most important... I hope you start feeling better soon!
Am feeling better -- just a touch of the "shmotz". I
f I have a margarita on an empty stomach I get pretty "happy" too.
It's ok -- Shasess said it best "what happens at Disney, stays at Disney" :)
We love the Apple Barn (and the fritters)! It's usually a breakfast stop for us every trip.
The Apple Barn and the Old Mill are definitely our favorites! There is another place that I call the Apple Barn between our house and Cades Cove on Hwy 321 near Townsend. (I'm probably screwing up the name.) They have a cute little cafe and a couple of shops. We like to stop there for hot apple cider this time of year and for the picnics when we are planning to hike. I'm thinking we'll need to visit it this weekend...:rolleyes1
When I'm not on call, we go somewhere into the park most weekends for some hiking...so a meet would be a blast!
Sorry...that type of alcohol is called Mezcal. I've done some research on it, though I think the gist of the matter is they are "like" tequilas, but different. Every explanation I find is different (some say Mezcals are better than tequilas and some say it's the cheapest/worst "cousin" to tequila that exists). What I can say is that the pineapple, cherry, and vanilla flavors are DIVINE!
I make this drink I call the "Egg" using sweet condensed milk, the pineapple or vanilla version of this stuff, and a touch of lime. (It looks like a fork-mixed egg, thus my name for it...)
I had saved a bottle of the pineapple just for my bachelorette weekend. We opened it right when we got into our unit in Saratoga Springs Resort. Within 1 hour, 5 of us had finished the bottle...and two of the girls (who had seconds BTW) were "not drinkers." They were planning to toast with it only and ended up drinking more than me!
I'm just praying the place is still there and that we can find it!
I hope Shawn is feeling better, I'm sure you are making a wonderful "nurse". Make sure he takes it easy so he'll be fully recovered in plenty of time for vacation!
Tonights such a busy night, first American Idol and then have to watch The Bachelors after the rose 2. For those of you that watch the bachelor wasn't last night scandelous!?!?
Thank you for the feel better thoughts! I'm passing them all along. :) I know, we are almost down to 2 months!!! I can't believe it! It's coming so fast!!:cool1:
We are still in shock from the bachelor last night!!!:scared1: I can not believe that! Aweful and so humilating......:sad2: WOW!!!
I'm anxious to see whats in store tonight?!
So are we all just going to meet at the 2pm location for our drink till we drop party?:rotfl:
Girl, I will be dancing right along with you, it doesnt take much for me!!
Hey, this would be a good night for us to do our kareoke!!!!:rotfl:
The Bachelor last night was scandalous!!! I wonder if Melissa will be back on tonight. I didn't know it was on until I flipped channels after watching AI (which I finally got to see all the way through and LOVED this group)....can't wait to see what happens!!!!
