~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~ Part 2 ~~~ Key Lime Pie-rates ~~~
I read somewhere that if what you have can get wet, then spritz it with water and use the hair dryer to get out wrinkles.
For "pressing", I like Downy wrinkle release. Works good, especially on polo knits.
Times is flying. My DD's keep calling, mom what this, mom what that? They are both trying to pack today.
I worked on magnets last night. Decided not to laminate all of them. I have waaay too many. Also, we have decided to bring a blender. In cabin 2102 if anyone wants to use it. Our door will be decorated with "Dave and Sue" or "Johnson's". Mati: Did I read you were the bartender? LOL.
A blender? YOU ROCK! Strangely, I don't find that weird at all.
I have a feeling we are going to go down in DCL history as THE BEST cruisers EVER :) :banana: !!
Hi everyone....I was on the May 2 cruise, and let me just say as a first time cruiser....you are all in for an a-"MAY"-zing time! If anyone has any questions, I can try to answer them. I have saved most of my navigators...(I think I missed Friday).
Have a happy cruise!
I was thinking the same thing . A blender is a splendid idea lol. I think the partys gonna start in your room!:rotfl:
Thanks so much for checking in on our thread :). I hope your detour to Nassau was OK. Hopefully we are still on track for Cozumel. Could you please take a look at your navigators and let me know the days & times for the wine tasting, beer tasting, tequila/margarita tasting and martini tasting? We're trying to arrange some group tastings and I wanted to check and see if the days/times changed from the last western navigator that I saw from January. Thanks so much :)!
What movies were playing in the theatre and also what times for beer, wine, tequila, and martini tastings?
Ok, so, have some friends over and have had 3 (ok maybe 4 or 5) of these and thought, all this talk about the cruise and blenders -- it is time to SHARE.
So first--- don't think less of me. Yes, I like my drinks strong.
and second -- after a couple of these, let's see if you can type without making mistakes....here we go:
Mati's Mexican Martinis:
4 oz good tequila (I use Sauza Hornitas for crowds, Patron silver for me & Yoni)
3 oz cointreau
4 oz sweet & sour
2 oz sweetened lime juice (like Rosie's)
2 oz orange juice
splash of sprite (diet sprite is ok).
Mix together, shake in shaker w/ice and serve with jalapeno stuffed olives
Ok, it is my secret recipe -- it rocks, good luck!!!
More when I am sober but the whole "bringing the blender thing" inspired me!!!
Have a good night!!!
I can't believe our cruise is almost here already!! I am soooo far behind in packing...but it will get done. I just wanted to say thanks to Mati for organizing the tastings. I know my DH and I would LOVE to do some of them, but I will have DD (10 months) and limited Flounder's time....so I don't know if that will work for us. :( I thought about bringing her, since she's usually a good little sidekick, but I think that might win us Disney's Unfit Parent Award for dragging her to tastings. Ha ha. Hopefully we'll be able to squeeze one in somewhere, but I won't put us down definitely for one of them. We're looking forward to the cruise and will see you on board!
PS There's a good chance I may post a picture of at least me and DD before we leave....at least if DH is not in it, he can't complain and you won't be able to recognize him! He can stay incognito.
Mati, Not a Martini person but LOVE the jalapeno stuffed olives.
Sounds yummy!
My husband is wasted. He just got home from a night out on the town with my brother. 2 different bars and the go-go rama. I guess it's a little pre-party in anticipation of him living like a bachelor at home while I'm living like a princess on the DCL.:rotfl2:
Mati: I'm not into the jalepeno olives, but the margarita looks AMAZING! (I love Grand Marnier or Cotreau in margaritas! I never thought of OJ, but that probably makes then even better!)
Since you've inspired me, here's my favorite "original" drink recipe that we fondly call "The Egg."
1. Start with 3/4 parts chilled Dick'Ell Pineapple Mezcal (found only in Cozumel...) This is the stuff we actually booked the cruise for!:worship:
2. Add 1/4 part of sweetened condensed milk.
3. Squeeze 1/4 of a lime.
4. Shake and serve. (You'll see where it got it's name at this point.)
It's very sweet and has been known to cause several nondrinkers to finish off a bottle in about 30 minutes!:lmao:
Jane: Hope you have/had a great trip today!
Best wishes to all the travelers this week!
Safe travels for everyone getting ready to leave soon!!! :thumbsup2
That's too much fun! Ok deck 2 that's where we are so if you stop by we should have too far to stumble back to our cabin! :rotfl:
If you're able to scan any of these I'm sure we all would love to have a sneak peak at the newest version!!! I hope you had a wonderful time.
Your all's drink recipes sound yummy. I have no original drinks, like I've mentioned before I'm very much a light weight... I can probably count the number of times I drank last year on my fingers! I'm a fruity girl though, not a beer fan. I think the problem is that the first time I every drank it was beer and I got VERY sick and hungover. Ever since then I just can't do it! Anything with pineapple or strawberry is right up my ally! :thumbsup2
Ahhhh...ok, so it has been a long long time since I have been this "happy". Let's chalk it up to some excellent mexican martinis and getting a little (just a little) irritated with the spousal unit. So, with that being said, let's see if I can respond to this day's posts without too many typos!
V, Robin, Cinda -- can't even imagine how much it will cost us to board Cuervo. Ok, so not an animal person, this I admit how unpopular as it may be but the reality is, we have a dog and both the hubby and daughter are in love with him (Cuervo) so, I am guessing we have $$$$ to spend in our future to ensure he has fun while we are on vacation. I don't even want to think about it!!! :eek:
Val -- you nailed it -- I feel like many of you are my family and I talk to my sister every day so to imagine not hearing from you for week, well, it has my heart a flutter!!!! :scared1: I am happy that you are having fun but now, can't wait to see you nice and safe and sound at the pier!!!
Hudson cracks me up. If I can get it together will post a pic of Sabrina all decked out in her pirate costume (don't hold your breath, am pretty happy right now). If I do, you can show him what she looks like. She will be happy to know she has several pen pals. She fell short at the end not responding. My laptop batter crashed so it became harder for us to write folks back....
Everafter1 -- thanks for the update! Keep us posted so we know what to plan for next Friday!!!
Sonya honey -- we have been MISSING you. I am guessing you won't see this but let me tell you, have been tempted to call the hotel just to be sure you are ok! (yes, that is the mom in me coming out). Can't wait to meet you next week!!!!
Kathy -- had to take my Daddy with me to see Star Trek. I grew up watching the movies with him so it just made sense. What is funny is that my Mom tried to talk my Dad out of going with us since she thought it was a "date night". I told my Dad "Please -- Star Trek is NOT a date movie!" It was great!!! :thumbsup2
I will do my best to add you to my tea ressie. I think I have your cell. If I can't find it, will PM before you before I leave to get it and text you if I get you added.
As for ironing -- ummmm..who are we sitting with? Do you guys mind if we are wrinkled? Ummm, didn't think so.... :lmao: I'll figure it out on ship but am guessing, will have to send clothes out for pressing!!!!
Kim is gone now. Will miss her but hopefully she will have a BLAST!!!!
Awwww--Yoni put one of my favorite movies on -- how am I going to focus now? (Notting Hill in case you were curious)
Sue -- you are my hero. Thought about bringing our Magic Bullet but now thinking a shaker and the ingredients for martinis may be enough!!!!
Ummm....yes, we will be the BEST cruise EVER!!! I know it, I feel it, I can't WAIT!!!!!!
Thinking of bringing a jar of jalapeno stuffed olives with mme -- what do you guys think? :thumbsup2
Tammy - I am right there with your Dh (minus the dollars spent at any bar....)
Cinda -- your recipe looks FANTASTIC!!!!
Ok, have to watch the movie....sorry....it calls me.....
I'm with you on the beer! I've never been sick and hungover from it, but mainly because I couldn't stand to drink enough of it to get that way!:lmao: I did have a similar negative experience with Baily's one time about 10 years ago, and I still cringe a little about the thought of drinking it again!
As for the other, I love pineapple, strawberry, and any "girlie" drink. Since October, I believe I have consumed a total of 6 alcoholic beverages (1 tequila sunrise and 5 margaritas). I had 2 of those last week and those were too much at one time! (I'm a light weight, especially when you figure my size...) Oh well... I will probably drink more on this cruise than I have in the past year...
BTW I realized that my last post said "days" instead of "dogs." (Talk about typos...)
Mati: With our dogs, we generally figure their "sitting" to be the cost for 1 of us on the trip! We pay $17/visit and our sitter comes 3 times a day. Unfortunately, with Abbey being blind and Fonzie being very "nervous" at the vet, we just think keeping them at home is better. They seem happy and well-adjusted when we come home! Also if we boarded them, we'd have to pay for Abbey (35 pounds) and $20/day, Fonize (12 pounds) and $18/day, and Lilly (9 pounds and an iguana) at $12/day. And, we have to wait until Monday to pick them up, pay for the "kennel cough" shots for the dogs, get them bathed so they don't stink to high heavens when we pick them up, etc., so the dog sitter is actually cheaper!
I don't complain though, because it could always be worse! They are the closest things to kids that we have and they are getting older (11-13 years old), so we figure they deserve good care!
Oh sweeties (Lynsey & Cinda), you know we will love you whether you are a lightweight or not!!!!
