Disney looks at Travelers cheques as cash - no limit to exchanging those. Checks are limited to the $200. You cannot charge exchange money to your account or use your OBC to get euros.

Thanks. I remember not being able to charge to the account from last year. Haven't used traveler's cheques in years, since we usually just withdraw from ATMs.

And we started packing. Too many clothes. Have to scale back.

I think just waiting for me to post final info for Gibraltar-- I just posted a few minutes ago.
Busy work day today. Thankfully we almost finished packing yesterday. If you see a family of 5 with VERY WRINKLED clothes the 1st week of the cruise-- that would be my family!! I've already packed & zipped up all but one of the suitcases ( I think we will be at 4 carry ons & 1 checked for the 5 of us).

Re: Gibraltar meeting point: inside or out is fine with me. Maybe inside would be better so we don't get mixed up in the ship's excursion lines?

Re: the number of suitcases you're bringing: Wow--I'm going to have close to that number just for me! But I am taking some stuff I can toss at the end of the cruise (e.g., old running shoes that I can wear a couple more weeks to exercise, but are otherwise done for).

Thanks. I have not been on a ship with oceanview cabins on such a high deck, so when I first looked at the plans, I thought the green of the 9A was the green of the 4A because I thought only balconies would be that high.

I'm happy with the window, though. I think I said I was going to start packing yesterday, but I really mean it today!

This tour is 6.5 hours long. We will leave around 10 am - meet at 9:30

• Cabo Girão - stop for the viewpoint on top of the cliff
• Ribeira Brava - just passing by
• Encumeada - stop
• São Vicente - due to shortage of time, your stop will only have a total of 1 hour, this will enable you to visit the caves, but not to watch the films
• Porto Moniz - staying for a total of 2 hours
• Paúl da Serra - there are several viewpoints, depending on time I think you'll visit at least one
• Ponta do Sol - just passing by
• Back in Funchal

I have measured both suitcases, and the important thigns are packed. FEE gifts, check, more FEE gifts check, small fan so i can sleep at night, check, DCL beer mug, check. I think i am good, i don't really need to pack clothes do I ?

<edited> I don't know why, but I just checked my reservation online, and I've been handed a sweet upgrade. I booked an 11C and originally was assigned a 10B. Now I've been moved up to Deck 6, a category 9A--I have a window!!!

Edited to add: oops, I think I misread the colors on the deck plan. Apparently the upgrade is to a 9A, an oceanview. (Originally I was thinking it was a verandah; silly, I know.) But at least there's a window! Can anyone confirm what cabin type of cabin 6524 is?

I was also upgraded from an 11 C GTY to a 9 - It looks like I'm right next to you now (6526) - I am sooo excited to have a window! I never thought that upgrades would happen this close to the trip unless you "paid" at the upgrade desk and because I thought a few days ago the ship was showing as sold out!

I never thought that upgrades would happen this close to the trip unless you "paid" at the upgrade desk and because I thought a few days ago the ship was showing as sold out!

Hey neighbor! I am happy for us both!! (Unless you snore! ) I'm guessing they're trying to spread passengers out so stewards have even workloads.

I am excited to have the window and to be forward for access to the adult-only goodies on deck 9 (hope I have that right). I am a hair worried about being so forward for motion issues, but I'm bringing the Bonine and should be fine unless we get some rogue waves.

just got back from DIsneyland for the afternoon..... when I was rounding up the kids to leave for Disneyland earlier today-- I said ok lets go we are going to Disneyland, we have to get Gavin from school & then we will go see Buzz lightyear..... one of my little ones panicked when he walked past my room and saw the suitcases. "mommy you are forgetting our bags" . "no, we are not going to cruise ship today- we are going to Disneyland today", ok-- but dont forget our bags when we go to cruiseship!!

my little 3 yr old is stressing out over remembering everything just like me..... thank goodness we werent leaving for DCL today!! I'm not ready!

Yes, we are several shy for the Pink Ladies Champagne tasting. I recommended we just all get together one evening and wear our pink boas and go have a few drinks, chat, dance, etc. We have decided to meet at the promenade lounge at 10pm each night for those who want to go out and about our sit and chat so we can pick one of those nights.

too funny how our little "mini me's" act like us! My nightmares are made up of things like I am the airport and forgot to bring my passport, or in a foreign country and I forgot cash and my ATM card, or that we are in a hotel trying to pack up and get out before check out and my kids "stuff" keeps growing and growing and i can't get it all packed. Sad huh?

We have an early flight out on the morning of May 28 (9:10AM Swiss Air). I called DCL and asked if I should book a Disney transfer. They advised me to let the guest relations on the ship know that we would need very early departure and we should be fine. Someone else posted the same thing and that is what they did last year. We might have to take a cab or something. Will have Euros in my wallet just in case. This is the only stressful part of the trip for me. According to the google spreadsheets there are three groups (cabins) of us that have the same flight.

Can't wait for the trip!
