~May 14, 2011~ Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise on the Magic!

Hi everybody.

We are booked on this cruise. It is myself, husband and 2 boys who are currently 10 and 13.

welcome to the EBTA..
we're Robin and Karl we have done the WBPC before but this is my first trip to Europe. Robin has been before!

Karl

Hi Karl,

you will love Europe - will you be staying on after the cruise??

It sounds like Ian & I (Sharon) will be the only English ones aboard.

travelling with no kids. We are using the cruise to travel homewards after a trip to WDW. Only our second Disney Cruise.

Celebrating Ian's birthday just before the cruise starts and one of the big brithday's for me just after the cruise finishes.

Its getting closer - its so good now it only next year.

Sharon

couldn't resist...i live right in between the two of you in Santa Clarita!!! and we were also on the WBPC "08

Sorry that we didn't meet on the WBPC.... or did we?? We should definitely try & meet this time! :dance3:

I will also have one of "those" birthdays before the cruise starts.
We too are traveling without our (grown) kids. ;)

It will be Karl's first time to Europe, but I did a back-packing trip through 11 countries during college.
("Several" years ago).
To this day, it is still one of the travel highlights of my life! :cloud9:

Robin (& Karl)

sorry Robin I didn't mean to leave you of the post.

I guess you be staying in slightly better places round Europe than when you were backpacking :)

Have you got a trip to England planned in there?

I am so looking forward to the cruise and meeting the people from the forum.

I am having to cope this whole year without a Disney fix - so planning what we will do in 2011 is keeping me going. Ian just turns up wherever and assumes I've planned and booked everything.

Sharon

Sharon,
Can I ask you a question regarding international calling?
What do you recommend?

Thanks Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

I guess you are talking about Europe to USA?

I don't really phone the USA that often (my sister lives in upsate NY and phones us on her inlcusive minutes). If I need to phone her - I must admit I just do it without thinking too much.

If you are thinking about when you are over in Europe after the cruise - I, unfortunately, am not the person to ask.

I would probably not bother with a phone call and both login to one of the social networking sites at a coordinated time and use the instant messaging myself.

If I misunderstood your question - please try again - its been a long afternoon:)

Sharon

Yes Europe to USA. I was thinking of getting a prepaid cell phone for europe so I can call.

Hi Sharon.... my middle name is Sharon. :) Yes, I imagine that the accommodations on this trip will be a little more comfy than backpacking when I was 20. I started & ended my trip in England then....as of now, we have no specific plans as to where we may go after the cruise, or how many more days we can take as vacation days. I personally would like to go to Austria...that's one that I missed the last time! We'll see. :goodvibes

I'm sure that would be the best way if you are travelling around.

You need to make sure whichever one you get can work in all the countries you plan to go to. On our UK mobiles we have to have a 'roaming' option I beleive.

Not sure pre paid cells (or pay as you go mobiles in UK) are as cheap as over in the USA though.

Kerri and Adrianna!!! My third cruise is upcoming also on January 31st!!!!! We can meet you there and "re-connect" for our fourth (the transatlantic!!!!!)! That is SO SO SO cool! I'm easy to find, I with the GORGEOUS blond dog (so far, she has always been the only dog on board besides Pluto and Goofy of course!) her name is JoJo and I will be travelling with my SIL Linda and her 18-month old Isobel.....PLEASE introduce yourselves if you get a chance!!! This soon cruise was very much a last minute thing for us, so I haven't been on that board over there (just booked it this week)....but I really loook forward to meeting you both!

- Megan and JoJo

Megan, it was great meeting you and Jo Jo. I hope Jo Jo is feeling better. My daughter Arianna and her friend Lauren and I had a great time on our 1/31 cruise. Arianna and I are now counting down to our next cruise. :goodvibes

First of all.....GO BAMA! ROOOOOOLLLLLL TIDE!

My family if from J'ville and always been 'Bama fans.

We have decided to take the "plunge" and I booked the 2011 EBTA!

We bounced from the 2010 WBTA to the 2010 EBTA, but when this cruise came out we changed. We like that it is mid to end of May and with the economy like it is here in the D' it gives us more time to save. Actually I had enough to almost make the whole balance when I switched from the other cruise, because I dropped the air and transfers and downgraded. We are hoping to upgrade at a discount at the port, but if not I am happy with the cabin we were able to get. Inside deck 7 aft, near the "secret" veranda.

There will be 3 of us, my DD will be 8, and we will be celebrating my partners birthday in Bacelona on the 6th of June....most likely on the plane home.
Welcome and Roll Tide! How bout that Crimson Tide being National Champs!!!!

Hi,

Just booked us on this crusie with our DVC points.

Just Hubby and myself - can't wait - we tried a 3 day cruise in May and loved it. Ended up looking for another cruise when we go to WDW in May 2011 and for the same points as a 7 day cruise - we get a whole fortnight on this one - yippee.

We will be right at the bottom on deck 1 - but not sure we will be spending that long in our cabins (I hope). But at least after a long day should be easy to find the cabin - just keep going down!

Ian & Sharon
Welcome!!! My parents are going with us and will be glad to have lots of adult company!

Quiet thread so far.....I am sure it will pick up the closer we get!

We have to come up with a snappy name for our group. Any idea?
I agree. Names anyone?

Seriously considering booking this cruise. I plan to wait to see what on-board credits they offer for this cruise when we sail 1/31/2010 plus I sent an inquiry to Dreams Unlimited.
I always book category 9 mid ship room and have had no issues but I am questioning this category on a transatlantic. Would love to hear some feed back from anybody who may have experienced or knows of someone who has experience cat 9 on a transatlantic cruise.
We did a Cat 9 on a 7 day and loved it. Had connecting on Deck 2.

Hello all!

I booked last weekend and am excited to be taking our first Disney cruise. We are Barbara (me) and Bea (my mother).

No children - just mother and daughter. You will find us in the adult only sections since we are old enough to be your mother/grandmother and in some cases, great-grandmother!

We are deck 7 aft so some of you will be our neighbors.

No celebrations on this cruise, just happy to be cruising!
Welcome!!!

We booked our cruise this past Saturday.

Twokings
Kerri (DM) and Arianna (DD)
This will be our 4th cruise. Our 3rd cruise is is 20 days!! Celebrating Arianna's 18th birthday.
My birthday will be on the 9th night of our TA cruise.

We will definitely be participating in the FE.
Glad you booked!

Howdy everyone
My DW (57) and myself (63) just booked this as our 8th Disney cruise on board the Magic this past week. Got our favorite category 5C 9same cabin 6 times) for a great price so we are quite happy. My wife has been to Barcelona many times but this will be my first trip there. We are so excited about the sea days and the ports.
Haven't read all the thread yet so I'm just catching up.
Sailing on this cruise are DW Christine and myself, Jack
This is our 8th cruise on DCL--including an amazing Vow Renewal
We live in Huntington Beach, Ca
We will be in 5626
Lilofan is a tribute to my wife's love of that movie
Welcome!

To all the newbies, I will update the 1st page with your info ASAP.

Has anyone been following the April EBTA? Just wondering how it was going for them. Guess I need to sneak over and read! Hope everyone is doing well. We've been soooo busy- sorry I haven't been on to update.

Have fun. We enjoy all the Disney parks we have been too. I like the way the parks are close together is both Disneyland parks. I love the Roger Rabbit ride in Disneyland California.

Hi all pluto & jojo would be the only dogs on board.... goofy was a vertical dog. i was wrong sry all!!!

Sincerely Karl & Robin

I have been following the 2010 EB.....we were originally booked on that one...but scheduling and $$$$ issues intervened. Actually, I think it will work out better, because we can learn ALOT from them! and I think/hope the weather will be better in May then what they may have to Contend with in April.

Has anyone been tracking the airfares? I have, and I have not been able to fine anything even close to what DCL is quoting. So, I added air to my cruise....it DOUBLED the price!!!! But, still better then what I can get on my own.

Who is going to stay a few extra day in Barcelona? We will probably stay 2 extra nights, maybe 3. I have been looking at hotels. FYA....MOST of the Euopean hotels will let you book well over an year in advance if you call them directly. Hotel 1898, Casa Camper, and Hotel Rivoli Ramblas are the ones we are looking at.

We added DCL air as well. I will keep looking for a good rate as we get closer to the dates, but nothing even close to their price right now. My parents are staying a week or so extra and touring Spain. Just have to give our TA the exact return date so she can alter the flight home and avoid the change fee. I don't know if we will stay any extra days with the kids.

Looking at the WB Trans, I see that ALOT of people are staying at the Priktak Rambla Hotel.....looks nice! With an inhouse Tapas Bar!
