Our group seems to be growing nicely.
Verandah Man - that was a good move talking to your daughter. Now you can go with a good feeling that you made the offer.
Has any "definite" place and time been set for a meet yet?

V-Man - not to rock the boat :sunny: but why can't your DD have both :rotfl2: I am proud of her not asking for that I know that when i was 16 I would have been that selfish and at least attempted to ask for both :teeth:

Based on the meet posts, it looked like the Mickey pool was the place but no time decided - we will be over at the family pool - immediately following the LB drill - our group will have glow necklaces - extras will be available I am quite sure!

Hanover - as for DH wearing a suit, or coat, or tux - this is how I proposed it to DH on our 1st DCL 2 years ago - I want a family picture, I have this beautiful gown, your kids are in great ties and you plan to wear WHAT :furious: He has been an awesome sport about the suit on all of our 5 cruises, I will say he changes immediately after dinner, and honestly I sometimes do too :sad2: this trip I will probably stay dressed longer - well that is if I can even find a gown for Formal night, I have semi all set, I have a dress I didn't wear on our last cruise (skipped dinner for a little romance on deck

WELCOME TO THE NEWBIES - 10 days in DW - your son is one lucky guy we also have son's his age, maybe they will meet in the lab

Yea, but I started feeling guilty again this afternoon, so I placed a call to my TA to see what it would cost to add my DW and DD to our cabin. I'm going to do my best to see if I can get them on the cruise afterall. After I picked my DW up from her retreat this evening, we stopped for a bite of dinner. As we were talking, my DW said to me, "This is one cruise I would really like to be on since so many of your family will be on it." Yea, that made me feel about the size of an ant. :rotfl2:

I'm hoping my TA will have good news for me tomorrow, I'm already working on a way to cover the extra cost. Please send some :wizard: my way!!!

Hi Carolyn,

By no means are you rocking the boat, the party for her Sweet 16th is by no means a little affair. We have already rented a hall, paid our deposit for a caterer, and hired a DJ for the night. We adopted our DD from Mexico when she was 7 months old. In Mexican culture a big party is given when a girl turns 15. Last year, our DD asked us about two weeks before she turned 15, if we were going to give her a big party. We told her here in America a big fuss is made when a girl turns 16, so we started making plans in January for her party this September. Like I said in my previous post, I'm trying my best to work something out so that my DW and DD can come along. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

My niece's two little girls are 3 and 1 and 1/2 so I'm sure they will be at the Mickey pool ASAP after boarding. I told my niece to have them in their swimsuits under their street clothes. So, it's a good chance we might be near the Mickey pool at 3pm as well. :goodvibes

Does anyone have girls in the 4-7 age range? My dd is hoping to have some girls to play with. She is in a class with mostly boys and looking forward to making some buddies.

We have 3 daughters your daughter could play with. My girls are 8, 6, and 4. I know they would have a much better time if they made friends. We'll be at the Raddison too, the night before and after.

I can't believe how close the cruise is!!! And welcome Verandah Man, my girls just loved the post cards you sent!

Dr. Cavin,- Thanks for the advice on the bookings. I was really unsure whether we should try and book now for Dec.2007 or wait and book onboard this May. For our May 13th trip, DUT was cheaper than Disney, (more than the 10% and onboard credit) and I really didn't know if we'd still get the DUT rate and get to keep the Disney savings if we changed to DUT after rebooking onboard in May.

BXIRISHRN- As for dinner wear: My DH will probably have a navy suit for semi- formal night and a tux on formal night. He owns 2 tuxes (he disc jockey's on the side), and prefers to wear those over wearing suits, but will most likely stick with the suit for semi -formal night. He can either wear a sports coat for dinner at Palo or can wear the navy suit coat (less to pack!) with khaki's or something. He's got Polo or tropical shirts to wear the rest of the week with slacks. Our boys will wear button down shirts and ties on semi-formal night and possibly a jacket. The rest of the week they'll wear polo style shirts and slacks. For formal night, they'll have tuxes I won off of ebay for $45 for both. As for me, I have absolutely no idea what I'll be wearing for semi- formal night and will wear a black dress for formal night. The rest of the week will be a mix of capris or slacks with blouses and sundresses. We will probably change after dinner if we have time before the shows except for possibly formal night. We liked going to the Golden Mickeys dressed up on our last cruise.

I saw a variety of outfits on semi-formal night on our last DCL cruise in Feb. 2005. We didn't have a formal night since it was a 4 day. There were men in everything from Polo/tropical shirts to tuxedos. Also, women in everything from long, beautiful formal gowns to pantsuits to capris/shirts.

My rule with our boys is as long as they smile for their before dinner picture while they look good and are clean, they can take off their jackets and ties and unbutton their shirts as soon as we are seated. It's just not worth the battle. My youngest is going through a phase where he actually loves to dress up...even insisted on wearing a 3 piece suit to Texas Roadhouse last month...so I doubt he'll be a problem! Our older son would prefer to dress like he just came off a football field, but he enjoyed dressing up on our last cruise since all the other kids and adults were getting spiffed up.

Verandah Man- I hope you were able to get a good deal for adding your wife and daughter

SQUIGGLE- I think the general consensus was to meet at 3PM at the Mickey Slide/pool. Someone please correct me if this is wrong.

Two months from today, we sail away!!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :cool1:  :yay:

Our DD is 7. We'll be at the Radisson before the cruise as well.

Dr.Cavin, any more about meeting at Grill's the night before??
Two months, two months, two months :woohoo:

Good morning!

Do any of you know if they sell loose precious stones on board? I thought I read somewhere a long time ago that they did. When we were on NCL 10 years ago they sold loose sapphires, emeralds and I don't know what else.

If so, does anyone know if it is a relative bargain?

I want to look at sapphire rings in St. Maarten, but if I can get a loose stone, then I can have it set the way I like later on.

Thanks
Kathleen :shamrock:

I started a new job so I haven't been on in a while. We are booked for the Radisson on the 12th too. DH, DD (5) and myself. We were thinking about Grills because we heard it is great.

The temp is summerlike in Pennsylvania today and it has me thinking about the cruise more and more. I can't believe how close it is!

Hi! (dh here) Our DD(5) will also be looking for playmates, or be stuck with her 2 brothers DS (6) andd DS (8).
We'll be flying down from BWI Thursday afternoon and staying at the Ron Jon Cape Caribe for 2 nights. We are also going to try to go to Grills on that Friday evening.

How does 5:00 pm sound for anyone interested in Grills?????

Good Morning!

Tsigrgy, Littlebunny & Arndtge - I have to little girls 5 1/2 & 4...I know they will also be looking for some playmates...sounds like we all might get to enjoy a cocktail away from the kids

Pool meet - From what I can remember :teeth: from my last cruise, Carnival did not open the pool until after we left port. Does DCL open the pool before we leave?

For everyone at the Radisson, if you have not done so already, make your shuttle reservations to the ship NOW! I read somewhere on this site about making reservations for the shuttle and thought to myself "no way!, reservations for a shuttle!" I called just in case, and the guy that took my reservation told me I "absolutely" needed reservations. We made it onto the 10am shuttle, so we should hopefully get there early.

Have a good week everyone. Michael

The travel channel will air the show about DCL several times this week. It is on at 2 am twice here EST, then at 3p on Saturday. Check your local listings!

I just got off the phone with my TA and she was able to get my DW and DD added to my ressie. We do have a cabin change however, we will now be in 2022, now I only have to tell Hazel and Angelina, then let the school know that Angelina will be out of school for six days in May.

Thanks for the good wishes and :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: it worked!!! :thumbsup2

We're in 2114 ! :teeth:

Welcome newbies!

Verandah Man, I am so happy that your family will be able to join you. They must be ecstatic. Don't forget about your other family though, the DISer's. Same some time for us!

Looks like DH and I are the old folks of the group. We would be happy to meet by the Mickey Slide. However, you all might have to hold me back from that slide. It looks like so much fun! How are we going to recognize each other? Any ideas?

This is really getting exciting now that more people are joining our group and posting is picking up. Just two more months! It will be here before we know it. :cheer2:

Hey Ragdoll enjoying our early Spring?? Too bad it is supposed to end in tonight :(

Do you happen to own any ragdoll cats?? Just curious to the nick-name....

Glad to see your entire family can now go V-Man, it would be difficult for me to leave my DW & kids to go on a week long cruise.. *cough* *cough*...
