and Jo I agree with you on the Florida 'swamp' weather..our first trip to WDW was the last few day of August into September...

Ugh..what a horrible time to be down in the deep South. I'm from Louisiana originally (my mom was born and raised there) about an hour out of New Orleans. It takes a very special reason to get me back to NOLA during late July/August. Go cups help things but not that much.

I love my DH explanation of our weather....HOT (we get 105+ for days)....BUT no humidity...He is originally from Ohio and does not like humidity...and Jo I agree with you on the Florida 'swamp' weather..our first trip to WDW was the last few day of August into September....OMG when I got off the plane I almost feel over...like getting hit with a wet blanket..
JC

I can't imagine HOT with NO humidity. That would be so great! When it gets hot here in PA the humidity comes right with it.
I guess I am just going to have to visit CA to see it for myself!!!

saw an open house sign the other day to a house. Stopped and went in. House was 40 years old. Never been updated, however, had an indoor pool. Needed about $200,000 in updates. The asking price?? $900,000. I might would pay $350,000 as is. It definitely was not a million dollar home.

This market is insane.

That sounds a lot like the Seattle market. I keep about this mythical housing slump across the country. It sure hasn't hit Seattle yet.

So..what type of things do people still have left to buy for their trip?

I think I'm mostly done shopping (hahaha - who am I kidding?).

Shoes, shorts, and t-shirts for me.

DH may need new shorts and swim suit. He buys for himself. So we will see.

Jo - Would your DH consider commuting to work? Once you get out of the city the market really isn't that bad around here. Neither are the taxes. We have 1.3 acres and our taxes are around $2500 total, and we are in a brand new development. Several of our neighbors commute to Butler, Cranberry, and Pittsburgh just to live in this school district and for the lower cost of living.

Just a thought!

::yes:: YUP! DH commutes an hour each way and it worked wonders for what kind of house we have :) Not to mention works into the whole living waaay below our means kinda thing :)

Hello again! I am back from the Gym. We ended up eating lunch at home. Chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese for dd, grilled bbq chicken sandwich with cheese for dh and salad for me. LOl, I feel like a short order cook sometimes but I have to clean out the fridge.
We are going to go out to dinner instead, just dh and I ( a date! ) I'm thinking SUSHI!

I have very thick, wavy hair and when we went last September it was really long. UGH! with the humidity it was puffed out to at least twice its normal size - it was seriously out of control! I had to wear a braid just about every day. This year I have it in a shortish bob and now I'm worried b/c its to short to put up [ :scared:

Mostly clothes for me I think! Oh - I have to get Dh new sneakers and I am loving the new line at Gymboree so I will pick up dd a couple more outfits.

all this humidy + hair is making me think of htat FRIENDS episode!! anyone remember with Monica in the bahamas??

That is pretty much what I look like!

I am going with my sister to get a manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax in a couple hours. I can't wait!!!!!
