Morning ladies :flower3:

I haven't voted yet - I am going after work. I have to go to the elementary school where my last apartment was because I am still registered there

I am really curious who everyone is voting for and why, but I don't want to start a brawl in my DISsanctuary - so I'm not sure if it's the best idea.

I know that it sounds stupid - but I am voting tonight because I found myself this morning having a a change of heart and I need to think about my choice for a little while longer.

I am a registered republican and I was actually leaning democrat, then I was back TO McCain, then Obama, then McCain. UGH.

Nothing like waiting until the last minute....

Does anyone else have a split household like mine? Bob is a registered Democrat, I am registered Republican. It makes for some pretty intense battles sometimes. :furious: Gotta love independance.

I'm with RF here, not so sure if it's a good idea to say who I voted for. . .

I will say this, I don't care for George Bush and I don't like the way the country has gone in the last 8 years. . . So it was a tough decision. . .

hey RF-
you know- I think we all care enough about one another on the MAYer thread to have an adult converstaion about who we voted for- without getting steamed.:goodvibes

I know a lot of people just like you that are still changing their minds going back and forth. You are not alone. I think a lot of people aren't going to make their minds up until they are actually in front of the machine or ballot. And it's okay- what is important is that you vote.

I was leaving this morning, looking at all of the people coming out of the building, thinking "Isn't this awesome- we are a blessed nation."

Mark and I differ on some views- but we are both registered republicans. We actually voted differently on one thing on the ballot today. It was about the lottery- he voted against it, I voted for it-
so we do think differently on some things.

Jo

OMG I will be glad when today is over. I have gotten 4 political calls since 10:30! You know, the recorded stuff. Good grief!

Hey there Shelly!

That's okay- you don't have to say who you voted for. That's what is great- your vote is totally secret!

When I was in television oh so many years ago- I helped out with an exit poll- and it was so funny to see people's reactions when you asked them who they voted for. Some were completely offended that you asked- some just outright lied and you knew it by the way they acted- and some tried to school you in the lesson of why it was important to keep your vote a secret. It was fun.:rotfl2:

Is anyone going to a campaign party?

We aren't. Mark's boss is actually in Chicago at Obama's big campaign party thing. Which I think is totally cool.

I actually have not gotten one political phone call this entire election!!! Can you believe that???

:confused3 I'm not complaining.

:rotfl:

Jo

I posted that before I read your post JO - If I knew at the moment who I was voting for, I would tell you all in a minute :goodvibes

I am leaning McCain again. This morning I was for Obama for his healthcare plan, but I was back to McCain because Obama's healthcare plan seems a little out of reach.

Here are my points of view on all types of political battles - look away if you don't want to know :lmao:

I am against abortion - but I don't feel that I should tell someone who has been battered and raped that they CAN'T have an abortion

I am all about securing the borders of this country against Illegal immigrants, but let 'em in if you're going to tax them and let them live like the rest of us. The more the merrier if we can all be treated (and taxed) equally.

I am all for drilling to help get us out of this crisis that we are in (no it's not a long term solution - I know - but doing nothing doesn't get us anywhere either)

Here are the more controversial issues:

I have very tainted views on prostitution, so you probably don't want me to get into that one at all. :scared1:

Death penalty - Eye for an eye. Sorry if that's a touchy subject. But when I think about someone living another day longer than they can after torturing and killing and molesting children it makes me sick. I say do to them what they did to their victim(s)

Guns - Love em! Well.... maybe not "love them" but it's my right to choose whether I carry it or not and the criminals will get them even if they are illegal. I don't own or carry one, but I do have a license... You should see my picture. I am wearing a hot pink shirt, diamond heart necklace and a Louis Vuitton purse.

Bob still laughs at that.

Sorry if that is a little too much TMI. But, like Jo said we all love each other here - you all know that I am not a monster even though I believe all of those things and I would never ever judge anyone here for disagreeing with me on any of those subjects. :goodvibes

Well RF- I am totally with you on all of those subjects.

As far as abortion- sigh, I am so opposed to them that I could never vote for anyone that believes in them. One thing that really upset me about Obama was his voting record with the babies that are born alive after an abortion. I knew a girl whose very best friend had a later term abortion- the baby was born alive and the nurse took the baby out, crying. The girl never knew what happened to it and was a basket case for years. She was just too young and innocent to know any better.

As far as the guns- my dad was a big hunter- had many guns. We don't own any, but my Mom still has Daddy's and is keeping them for my Drew when he gets older.

Illegal immigrants- I'm all for anyone coming to our country the legal way- and living here in peace. It's so sad. I've been to Mexico- I've seen the poverty there. It's a very sad situation. One of the guys that was the painter for our first house here in AR was an illegal immigrant. He told me how he got here, told me the risks he took- it was very moving and I felt so sorry for him.

Drilling- um yeah- drill now- as much as we need, as soon as we can.

Prostitution--- well... um- I don't think about that too much-:rotfl:

No matter who wins the election- it's going to be very interesting to say the least!

I hear that the police are gearing up for riots no matter who wins and France has already said that they are ready for rioting Muslims if Obama wins. I'm not sure why??

Jo

I look at the prostitution thing like I look at Illegal immigrants. You'll see why.

*Disclaimer* I DO NOT agree with prostitution, I don't like anything about it - I think that it is a sad, sad lifestyle for both parties who participate.

However, I do feel that they should consider legalizing it everywhere. Lets be honest - it's the oldest profession that there is. Get them tested, make people sign in so there is proof that they have visited these women for the safety of the 'working girl' and for the safety of the women that those men are leaving at home when they do their "extra-curricular" activities. There will be no more guessing where he is - you can find out.

And they can be taxed just like the rest of us.

And maybe this is my never-neverland brain working at it's best but, it may make it easier for the girls to "get out" and get real job without possibly endangering their lives.

I don't know if that's how it would happen - but I would like to think that it could.

***Oh, and yes - partial birth abortion is the most disguisting act that I possibly wrap my brain around. It makes me sad that people can even consider choosing that as an option.

Oh goodness they are getting snippy about the election over on the January Code Watch thread! (not the January Snowbirds :) ) One woman said something like - DH is working from home today due to that his building overlooks Millennium/Grant Park in Chicago and they order the building evacuated by 2pm today (Obama will accept from the open air stage in Grant Park and FBI will clear all high rises with a direct view of it). So another says something like - um the election isn't over yet, what is he accepting? Then another tells the second person that McCain is doing the same thing, they always do this in an election. . . Good grief, these are the same people who were flaming someone last week because she said that she had 2 ressies made for the same trip, something about waiting on codes or something. They were telling her that she was taking up rooms that someone else might want. . . :sad2: Like WDW is all booked up for January. I don't think so!

Yikes! People get so testy about stuff. I mean, don't get me wrong - I understand that this is an important time and what happens now is going to probably change the rest of our lives but - if you voted then that is all that you can do.

No you gotta sit back and see how the rest of the country feels.

LOL- people can be so ugly acting. (Kind of like me with the faux cop...:rolleyes1 )

hahahahaha- yep- politics is very interesting.

as far as prostitution- I look at it sort of the same way, I guess. If it were legal, then maybe it wouldn't be so intriguing for so many men. Not that it is right- I just think the thought of getting caught really ups the excitemnet for many of them.

Jo

Hi guys.

Went to the polling place today at 7am and there were about 300 people waiting to get in. No way...looked around for a fastpass...I went back at 10:45am and just walked in and voted.

Well, I would love to solve the problems of the world with you guys, but I have some VIM work to do today. I have to do the Birthday Wrap.

The birthday girl announced to me this morning, "Uh, mom don't you know that the birthday girls presents are all to be wrapped and beautifully arranged on the cabinet when the birthday girl comes down for breakfast so that she can think about what is inside all of those beautiful packages all day." :confused3 :upsidedow

I didn't have a single thing wrapped. I went out and bought some cute paper and I am trying to finish wrapping now.

I just always thought if they were wrapped and ready for after dinner on birthday night, that it was all good. Who knew? :confused3

I just don't understand why the news channels are so caught up in this election day thing. Don't they know it is Chloe's birthday and that is the big event of the day.

Happy Birthday to baby girl Chloe!!!!!!!!!!:yay: :wizard:    :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: princess: princess: princess:

Hope she gets beautiful big presents with gorgeous bows...

that's so sweet.

Jo
