Kids It is Africa Hot here at DL, spent ost of yesterday with Kay, Susie, and Linda’s Crew . We were really surprised that the crowds seemed less than we expected. Maybe the heat has kept folks away.
It definitely was fun hanging out with everyone yesterday, in spite of the heat. It was also nice seeing everyone for dinner. Karen and MacKenzie even flew in from SLC just for one night to have dinner with us. She also brought along a friend (Ann) and her daughter who was about the same age as MacKenzie and Zoe. Anna (CACruisin) was also there along with Kelly's group.

Hey congrats Scott! You hit 10,000 posts for this thread!

I have the 10,000 reply :thumbsup2

County fair was today. Well actually not the county that I live in, but the one next door. They have the oldest and best fair in the state.

I will have to post some of those pics too!

Debbie

WOW I did and didn't even notice, Thanks Debbie...

Pretty darn excited this morning, so here I am waiting for the coffee shop to open.

It has benn fantastic to see one and all again, making plans for future trips, enjoying DL etc etc etc…..

All the DVC people have no Idea about the CA DVC property. Seems they have briefed the bell hops and security folks about it LOL…..Looks like we will be getting more points in about a year or so.

I wish the race would start sooner as it will be rather warm, incentive to finish early.

Well best of luck to fellow racers, coffee shop is opening.

Race results to follow, unless Ken posts some live results.

Lynn is still sleeping,

Have a great day Kiddies……

Good morning all, I'm on my way out to see the half marathoners this morning, they are probably half way through the course - which includes getting to run the bases at the Big A stadium (Angels.) Anna and I did the 5K yesteray which was a blast - the course was loaded with characters waving to us and the whole thing had a Ratatouille theme. It wound through the parks. Karen wins the prize for coming the farthest for the shortest visit. We had a wonderful brunch at club 33 and then left to collapse from the heat. It was 110 in the parking lot when we left. So, off to see the runners and walkers, we'll let you guys know how it went.

Hi all

Just checking in to let you know how the cruise went.

It was definately a different atmosphere coming back on the Magic. The staff were alot quieter (worn out I guess) and there wasn't as much made of the fact we were going back home compared to the fuss made over going to Europe. It was fun though just a different kind of fun.

There wasn't as much Dis organised stuff but the main disappointment for me was the pirate picture which only I think 3/4 families turned up for unlike our huge group last time. Gonna try and post at some point so you can see. DizzyDAnn spent ages organising it with the Photograph staff and it was sad that the group was so small!

The events were organised differently this time too. Adult Flubber was scheduled for 9pm which meant late seatings either skipped dinner or didn't go (which we opted for). Party Paridiso was organised on a random night at sea and was dead litterally. The acrobat didnt fly due to high winds (she flew the next day instead) and it was just a bit odd really cause there was nothing else going on that day just her. Events in Rockin Bar D seemed to be rushed as the 70s/80s nights were organised after comedians were on in there which made the place packed and hard to find seats then some nights nothing was on except High Frequency go figure. The shows were just as good as ever.

Susan Egan was fantastic! She gave me goosebumps she was so amasing.

Sailaway ended up in the lobby which was weird but hey it was raining outside.

Weather was amasing! The boat barely moved let alone rocked! The harshest day was when we were moving to Tenerife and even then it wasn't anywhere near the crossing over!

Staff were as ever lovely but as said above there seemed to be less energy in general.

It was a lot more relaxing this one as there seemed to be less going on on the boat so you could spend time relaxing. Spent hours at the pool each day whereas on the last one I spent no time really there. (hey I read 4 books this time and I never read any last time).

All in all though I still loved it! It was just a lot different to what I expected and some days I missed seeing people around the boat like on Pirate Night Eric and Jason you guys in your costumes dancing was a highlight and it was sad not to see you guys there, and Scott and Lynn seeing you taking photos of the goofy pool during the bad weather was missed. It was nice to recognise a few people though from the previous cruise. Had some nice chats with DizzyDAnn and her daughter which was great. I would definately do it again but I think it just showed that Disney gave less emphasis on the way back to the way over as we got less pressies from Disney (you know like the Lumieres candles from the cruise over and stuff we didn't get those). I tried not to compare when I was on the boat and looking back Im glad but it was definately different. Alot of fun that I would love to do again and I made some good friends over the two weeks that Im sure Ill stay in touch with.

Anyway thats me done. Hope everyones doing OK.

Just to update everyone - it was so hot at DL today that I couldn't believe that the half marathoners made it alive across the finish line :scared1: But everyone came across safely from our group, but it was 87 when I pulled into the parking lot at 8am and 97 when I left at 11:15 am. It was crazy. They got some very cool medals too!

Gizmo welcome back - it was great to hear about the trip.

Kelly, Thanks for the DL 1/2 logo will have to copy it. KEWL!!!

Gismo thanks for teh report. Interesting to say teh least.

WE DID IT!!!!!! Along with about 13000 folks LOL

IT WAS HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!! Red flag day. I must have leaked 400 gallons of sweat. I did see three (3) people go down during the race. And several after they finished. I would guess all heat related.

We learned a lot about how to dress, prep etc.

Oh Times, Lynn was in at 3:29:00 and I did it in 2:51:04. In looking at the final results I was about the middle of my age group and we are both happy with our results.

The Disney folks did a great job and a letter will follow with compliments.

After the race we cleaned up and went to CA and rode CA Screaming, it was still pretty hot as the thermometer on the elevator said 110, later we learned the temp had gotten up to 105, official temp that is. Went for lunch at Rain Forrest, and then hit the pool, Then back to DL for the evening to drift around and catch short lines for attractions. There is the new Honda robot at Inoventions that we will try to catch today. Crowds still light.

So yesterday it was “please keep you hand and arm inside the vehicle at all times and hang on to those finishing medals”

More later,

Congrats to all the 1/2 marathon finishers!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: 13.1 miles is a great accomplishment under the best of circumstances. In the heat yesterday it is even more amazing! Glad everyone stayed well hydrated.

It was wonderful to see everyone and catch up over the weekend. Thank you Kelly for organizing dinner on Saturday (and showing me the difference between OC and LA:thumbsup2, letting me be a houseguest:) and being my walking buddy:cool1: ) and thank you Ken for organizing Brunch on Sunday. Great weekend all around.

DD13 and DD11 both started middle school last week and DD4 starts preschool tomorrow. Swim practice has been on a two week hiatus but will begin again next week. I will be back in full "taxi mom" mode at that point. It has been a nice lazy summer with even DH not travelling too much. It is great to catch up on what everyone has been doing and to hear about the return crossing.

Thanks Kelly,

Yep, I don't know if I was more hydrated on the outside or the inside, lot o sweat.

Thanks Kelly, I really enjoyed that. Now I really want to go, but with there being a waiting list, I don't know that we would be able to afford it!

Lori

Nannaguide, we got Galloways book and the Stick.

OK was I the only one who felt like a baked potato wrapped up in the mylar after the race????

Wish we had done the 5K with Kelly and Anna, next year for sure.

Hi everyone -

Seems you all have been busy around here. Just wanted to pop in and say that Karen and I helped bring the Magic back from the Med on the calmest seas I've ever sailed on - not that I have sailed much but it was amazing how calm the Atlantic could be on our way home. It was a nice trip and we did miss all of you but kept busy just the same.

Hi Mary!

Glad to see you back safe and sound. Would love to hear more about the trip and your comparisons.

I did see a picture of the calm seas. Just AMAZING!

Debbie

Yes Mary, please share your adventures with us.I've been reading the thread, Bringing Home, and it has been fun to hear about the trip. Sounds like you sailed on glass - how nice. I hope we hear soon from Deanna and her comparisons of the two trips. I am looking forward to our Wonder trip on Christmas as I miss cruising.

I am so proud of all you runners last weekend. I kept watching the weather news and I knew it must have been brutal for you. So glad you all did well.
Scott, I hope you and Lynn enjoy the Galloway book as much as I did. I finished another one this morning. I use my stick after every run and I don't have any aches or pains - hopefully you'll see the same results. I'm running the Komen 5K tomorrow morning at Wide World with 2 friends. This race is about raising money for breast cancer. We plan to go eat at Columbia's over at Celebration after the race - best salad in Florida!!!

All of you who are visiting WDW right now and are checking this site please come by and say hi on Tuesday night as I'll be at UK (next to Fish/Chips stand). Would love to see you.

Spoke to Deanna on the last few days on the boat and she was enjoying it but said she was missing the disers as none of us really hung around with each other like we did on the cruise over.
