I just need to ditto Gismo on the trip. It was fun, and I was sad to get off the ship, but the mood seemed to match the activity on the ocean--flat. The cruise staff were tired, most of them scheduled for vacation by Sept 17. I even heard kids activity people complaining in the halls about the 6 sea days. The whole staff complained that the Med cruises wore them out--early mornings, late evenings, expensive ports. I had never heard complaints before. Rachel didn't even seem enthusiastic. It was like okay, we're going home, so what. There was no real clear "beginning" of the cruise, either. We got on, ate and got off for two days to see Barcelona. Few were out at sailaway. My family was, but there was zilch excitement.
To me, it was more fun to go the other way--exciting sailaway, nice day at the beach, 6 days to meet people, then the ports of call where you could visit with the peoople you met just randomly seeing them as you sightsee. (I saw Karen all the time--and we did go back to the jwelry stores in Cadiz) And then, when you got off the boat, you were in EUROPE! cool.
I did miss the rough seas. I don't get sea sick and enjoy cool weather, so the EB was perfect for me.
I don't regret going. I met some dear people, like my friend Lorraine and enjoyed enormously my chat with Sarah and Lindsay, and it was nice to get a different view of that magnificent powerful ocean. I also enjoyed my family having the experience, and we did a few new things.( I LOVE Gaudi now, really appreciate his work.) However, I will choose to do the crossing "going" to a repo rather than returning from now on.
