Hi All!

Well the weather the past 2 days has been wonderful. A little rain, but it was a nice drizzle! We really need it here. Not sure if anyone saw the gully washer we had on Thursday. It was so isolated it wasn't funny! About 4 inches of rain in 90 minutes but focused on downtown area. I live 6 miles south of the city and not a drop came down. Gotta love Mother nature.

So I am here filling out the paperwork to renew my passport. Do I staple the 2 photos to the little block on the application? I am assuming so, but just want to be sure. I don't like the part about sending in my passport. I know it will come back, but not having it is scary!

Have a good week everyone!

Debbie

Hey Debbie - we had the same type of rain here on Friday night...it was interesting! I was at work and watched the lightening show for hours. Not realizing that the water pumping plant for the whole county had been hit and the generator backup was blown up! We are still boiling water, and hope to be able to drink and use local water by Wed. 2 hospitals had generators go out when the power failed...and I saw no rain at all - I was located between both of the hospitals!

I was nervous about sending in my passport as well. The other option is to go into the city nearest you that has a big passport office and turn it in directly to them - they are then responsible for it internally. The only other option I can suggest is sending it in with tracking and insurance. Not sure if that would replace it if lost - but at least you could have record of it.

Definately make copies of it before you send it or take it in!

We've had 4 drops of rain in one year. Lowest rainfall on record for Southern California - something like 3 inches for the year. Of course, when the first rainfall hits this year (sometime around December or January) we will have cars sliding all over the road from the oil.

Seems as though forest fires are not only affecting the US but the Canary Islands also. It looks like the tourist areas were not affected, but many were evacuated from their homes.

Here is one article: Tenerife forest fire

It is a beautiful island and hope that they can recover.

found this on the Westbound Panama cruise site: This was quite a topic of discussion! Good to know we won't have to pay the extra.
Disney abandons plans to make cruisers pay extra toll

It's at orlandosentinel.com.

I hear on the radio last night that the hills above Dubrovnik, Croatia were on fire and they were evacuating all the people who lived in the hills. We visited there on our Med. cruise. Connie

Susie (SSnyder), I just wanted you to know I went to an informational meeting yesterday at Pleasure Island (Motions) for Adventures by Disney Travel Guides. They did 2 sessions yesterday and last week they did 2 sessions at Disneyland. They will have 80 guides in 2008 - probably all 37 guides from this year will come back so they'll only be hiring about 50 guides. They said it is very competitive. They think there will be 800 plus applications. He did mention that guides who have graduated from Travel Guide School and never worked for Disney were hired last year - I thought of you. If you want any other info PM me and I'll try to fill you in on what I remember and what I wrote down. I would love that job but I am sure my age would really be a drawback. Well, I can DREAM:cool1: :cool1: Cheers! Anna

Jennifer, we'll be out of town for your soiree but am looking forward to our get-together in December. Have fun!!

Thanks Anna. It sounds like this is a good time to re-send them my resume. I also saw that they are planning a new adventure to Southern California.

Hey Kids we did the 5K Race for the Cure today, it was fun, My time was 30.29 so getting a little faster.

We are traveling to Denver to see the Cubs and Rockies. Should be fun.

Have a great weekend.

Oh man have we got High School Musical Fever. DD has decided that it is her favorite "new" show. She sings and dances to every song. I'll bet she'll be thrilled on the next cruise. I was shocked to find out that the drama teacher was Cassie from Chorus line the movie (boy has she changed!) Also, they are doing HSM 3 Haunted High SChool musical. She's also fallen in love with Sharkboy and Lava girl. It's crackin me up.

The Game was fun, Cubbies lost big time. Got to see a grand slam, that was a first. The folks we are with got freebie tickets for the afternoon game today. Being a little spectator sports are really not my thing, rather be bloodied in the arena. DL ½ marathon is a few days away, feel pretty ready, will be slow but get it done.

Denver is a neat town. I gotta get my but in gear and get tickets for “Spamalot”.

Anna, sounds interesting. Susuie, go for it...

Later kids.

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I have posted so thought it was time to pop in and check on everyone.

It's HOT in the D.C. area! Even the trees are starting to die in some areas. Has the heat affected any one else? I work at a golf course and we had more people golfing when it was 20 degrees than we do when its 95. Once the sun sets and it cools a bit we get mobbed with people who want to hit balls on the driving range. We have had lines of people waiting for an open station (we have 74 lighted stations) ha ha

My DH Jeff just got home from a backpacking trip in Colorado. They had a great time, they had a couple of days with rain but overall the weather was good. It was on the cool side but that could have been because they spent the whole time above 10,000 ft. (in my mind, cool = no snakes!) ha ha

I have been trying to book us on the west bound panama canal trip since we came home from the transatlantic. Yesterday a cat 10 popped up on line and I grabbed it. My heart was pounding a mile a minute while I was trying to type in all the information. I was afraid someone else would "purchase" it before I got to that step. PHEW I was doing a major DISNEY dance last night!!

Some of you may remember that my father passed away while we were on the ship last May, so this is trip is sort of a do-over. When things settled down for us in June, I put everything in a box and labled it "cruise planning"
I was so happy pulling it out of the closet last night.

Are there many of us from the May Transatlantic trip going on the May panama canal trip?

Love to hear how everyone is doing..

Cynthia
