May 12, 2007 -- Taking the Magic to the Mediterranean -- 14 day Repo Cruise!

A week from now I will be in my room at OKW not able to sleep because I will be on a cruise the next morning!

Three more days of work, and of course 2 of them have night meetings so those will be long days. This weekend will be the hair appointment and the packing of bags.

This cruise can not come soon enough. Been a pretty stressful time at work and it will take me all of the 14 days on the ship to wind down!

Did a little update to the roster. Was able to get a couple more room numbers. Also updated the map. I will say... Party on Deck 2!  :cool1: :cool1:

Debbie

Debbie,

I feel your pain!!! Got my hair done today but nails and facial are Wednesday. I HAVE to get packed this weekend, or I will be the crazy lady with all tops and no pants or all pants and no tops and the underwear could end up left behind!!! :scared1:

3 more work days and I hope I can make it! Refused to schedule or attend any meetings on those days so I can finish up my 'real' work before I go!

As for a party on deck 2, that is assuming we all don't upgrade to deck 7 or 6!!

I was wondering, I am bringing some post it notes with me, so that IF we are able to upgrade at the port, we can post a note on the door saying we moved to room XXXX. I figure we will also post it on the door monitor signs too. Does that sound like a good idea?

We did purchase through DCL. THe problem is that the air is listed for my DD's room but not for my husband and I's room. I printed out our itinerary from Delta though. Atleast the stuff from DCL for my DH shows that the cruise is going to other countries. I guess we will just have to wait and see how Monday goes.

Wish us luck!

So you have two rooms, but you do have the airfare for all of you off of the Delta website, correct?

So take the print outs for both rooms and the Delta stuff and you should be ok.

By the way, what airport are you flying out of? Do you change planes in Atlanta and get to Orlando about 430pm? Are you staying at the airport Hyatt? If so, we are having a meet out by the pool about 7pm so the kiddies can burn off the energy and the adults can meet and mingle before we attack Ken in the lobby for our lanyards.

We are flying out of Santa Ana/John Wayne at 645am.

Well the stuff from Delta does not list DD b/c she is not getting a seat :lmao:

It is kind of funny looking at all of this right now. It is cracking me up.

So she is sitting on someones lap and other DD will have a seat. So you show airfare for 3 of you, and cruise fare for 4 of you? They SHOULD understand that, but then again I am applying logic to the government and we ALL know how that can mess you up!!!:confused3 :rotfl2: :lmao:

We are flying out of LAX at 11:10. We land in Orlando at 6:50. I am pretty sure we are on the same plane as Ken. So I will mob him at LAX :rotfl: .

We are staying at the Hyatt. I will send DH down to the pool with the kids since Connie so graciously offered to take me shopping!

Airfare for 4 and cruise for 5 (we could not leave grandma at home, expecially on Mother's Day).

Oh yes, how I know the governments logic! The government is my husbands boss :rotfl:

It is getting so close:cool1:

Tonight we were at Marika's karate Dojo where they had a special ceremony to give the belts to the kids who earned them in last week's test. She is now officially a blue belt, which puts her at exactly half way to black belt:) We followed this up by sprinting through the mall (left Penny's as they announced they were closing) and then over to Target (again checked out as they wre announcing they were closing). We have turned Marika's room inside out (multiple times) but of the three swim suits she should have we can only find all of one (have bottoms only to the other two:confused3 ). So the goal of the evening was to find somehting she and I both like for a reasonable price (no hunny the $40 suits at Limited Too are not gonna happen:rotfl2: ). Finally found one!

Ken--Congratulations to your son. I hope he does as well in the next round.

Stephanie--Levels of dress on both Formal night and semi-formal will run the gammet. Dave will be in a Tux for formal night but probably just a sports coat and tie for semi-formal (not suit). There will be tuxes to golf shirts on formal and suits to golf shirts on semi formal. Pack what you want to get to see your guy in and don't stress!

We have an ultra busy week comming up as well. I don't expect to be home before 9:30 any night before we leave (kids are usaully in bed by 8:30). Remaining packing will happen when??? And cleaning house??? I am neurotic about needing to know I have aclean house to return to when on vacation:idea: At least the kids should be well adjusted to the late vacation schedule before we even set foot on the plane!

Call Delta and ask them to pull up your itinerary and have them e-mail it to you. You can do it right now they are still open 1800 221 1212

Good luck

OMG I am the same way. Gotta put clean sheets on the bed before I leave and make sure it is all dusted and vacuumed before I go. And towels in the bathroom, so I don't even have to worry about it when I walk through the door. Kinda helps extend the vacation mode. Clean sheets, clean bathrooms, clean house. Not to mention, who wants to come home to a mess. It will be messy enough once you unpack!!!:rotfl:

Ok, word to the wise about LA passport office.

1 - They have been very unfriendly and downright hostile to most people.
2 - Bring copies of your tax returns or bank statements or utility bills or something showing that you had bills being mailed to you to a US address from 5 years ago. I kid you not, they asked for that for our friends where the wife (naturalized) got her's in 13 weeks and they had to go in for her husbands (US/Calif Born) and they actually asked for that on the second day
3 - Be prepared to have to spend a second day there
4 - If you sent in your paper work and certified copy of the birth certificates I hope you have another set. They seem to have problems getting copies faxed to them or finding your original passport request
5 - Make sure you have the copy of the documents showing you are leaving and on what date. Also, don't just have the airline info showing you are going to Orlando. Make sure you have the cruise docs showing you are sailing to Spain and MUST have a passport to fly home from there and make sure you have docs for EVERYONE who needs a passport

I seriously wish I was kidding or exaggerating about this but I am not. Oh and I don't care what time your appointment is, be prepared to spend the whole day there. Pack snacks and water, etc. And remember that Monday morning traffic is horrible.

That being said, I wish you good luck!!

I heard that in LA and Chicago they only take the first 18 people in line. Once they hit 18 people, they close for the day. (supposedly it takes a full work day to handle 18 people)

Any truth to it??

Is there water in the pools before we set sail? My DM and DH said that cruise ships do not fill the pools till after we depart. I was wondering if Disney does it differently then other cruise lines?

Not sure about the 1st 18 people in line but I will tell you this much it was near impossible to get an appointment!

I was wondering for those of you staying at the Hyatt the night before, Ken, Brooklyn, etc, are you taking the DCL transfers out to the port, or renting cars at the airport the next day?

I am getting in late Friday night @9:00 pm, but am driving out to Port Canaveral and staying at the Country Inn there.

We are taking the DCL transfers. Too much planning for us in such a short period of time. I am usually very "thrifty" but I took the easy road out this time. It is SOOOOO unlike me!

I understand, sometimes have to give yourself a break! :goodvibes

We were scheduled for DCL transport, but opted to ride with another disboarder.

If anyone is interested, you can see a picture of my son in action today.

Go to www.avp.com and look at the picture labeled "Sponsors". That's my little guy. :lmao:

That is awesome :thumbsup2

It seems like yesterday I read several "This will be my last post"s, and then today I come home from work to EIGHT new pages?!

I sure do enjoy hearing about everyone's adventures. Packing? I suppose I'll start that next Thursday.

To those of you who already left and started your vacation--Safe travels, have a great week, see you on the cruise!

To the new cruiser, Welcome! Wow, hats off to pulling this all together in a week!

Hadley--congrats to Rio for his part in the show!

Ken--Same for your son!

Passport folks--good job. Some relief there, huh?

Now--off to my dinner and in one week it'll be my turn to go too!!!!
Chris

Ken - Congrats to your son! Good Luck with the games tomorrow. Weather looks like it is finally going to be nice again. Should be a great day at the beach!

Hadley - Congrats to Rio!

Congrats to those finally getting passports and Here's :wizard: for Brooklyn's family at the passport office on Monday.:scared1:

Welcome to all the new cruisers!

Safe Travels to all that have begun their vacation already!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Discovered we had the same problem a couple of weeks ago when the weather turned warm. Got lucky though. I was in Sports Authority getting more practice suits for swim practice and discovered "last years" stuff on clearance. Got each girl two "bathing" suits - 4 suits total (which are very different from "swimming" suits, btw:rotfl2: ) for less than $40 total :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:. Of course then I paid 3X that for 2 "swimming" suits for swim team:sad2: .
