Thanks for all the info on the wine! I think it may be a corkage fee for a couple of bottles at least. Do you know if the liquor stores near the Hyatt have a decent selection of wines?

Someone mentioned numbers for getting on the ship. Those of you that have been before can you please enlighten us with the procedures on embarcation? Most cruises seem to be a free for all but I get the impression that does not happen with DCL.

If you are travelling with DCL transfers do you have a choice of times to go to the ship?

Regards,
Greg:)

Try ABC Liquer store for a search to see what comes up near the airport.

I have some of the fabric from the one on the right!

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: We do not ge tto go to the parks this trip:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: It is so totally sad. BUT we do get 10 days in September (I am holidng onto that thought). IF you are in EPCOT and near Norway and feel like picking up a sweet pretzle (no almonds please) for me you will have my undying gratitude. That is MY Disney treat that I long for all year. But really, I am sure I can handle being within 10 miles of the Kring La and not getting one just this once (and they aren't as good as they once were, but htey are still yummy). So, you will be at the Wine and cheese gala? Hurray. I am so excited to meet people and the sooner the better.

We won't be in the parks either. :sad2:

I have been somewhat of a lurker and am not on any "official" lists, but I did notice Eller had mentioned a possible Bible Study on Monday. My family would be interested in this if it is OK. Thanks

Welcome and it will be great to do Bible study together!

ATTENTION DISNEY PASSENGERS

I am terribly behind on my packing so I have asked Disney to delay departure one week. Everyone booked on a future Magic Cruise, please adjust your schedules accordingly.

Sorry for the inconvenience

:rotfl:

Just booked this cruise two days ago and I just found this website. Looks like there will be a lot of terrific people onboard. I'll try and get through all of the posts in the next few days so I can be on top of things, I'm like that. Anything, anyone care to share, what I should have jumped on weeks ago?
Thanks!:cool1:

Welcome! As others have said page 500 really has the important stuff. Tell us about yourselves and like Hadley said, don't try to catch up, just ask any questions you have. It won't matter if they've been asked before.

For instance, I know I asked about the facial tissues on board, but now I can't remember if someone answered me and I forgot (things leak out all the time :confused3 ) or if no one answered. Silly me!

Hi all,

Just finished packing, then off to bed for a few hours sleep before flying to Orlando for a weeks rest before the cruise.

Can't believe people are still booking at this late stage, its been bad enough booking six weeks out, I would never manage a weeks notice (neither would my boss).

Went to see my dermatologist this afternoon and ended up having a biopsy - wasn't expecting this until I returned from holiday, so have a dressing on my face now which isn't very flattering.

Anyway, bed calls, see some of you at Scotts Cheese & wine meet. All of you have a good journey.

See you all in 1 WEEK

Gail :cheer2:

Safe journey!

Boy is this board dead this evening! I must have been to Walmart a dozen times this week. Just as I get back home I think of something else I forgot! Not knowing the weather is killing my packing - three of us will have 4 middle size suitcases and one hangup bag. I least we are bringing some things that we will not be bringing home so our suitcases will be lighter on the return flight.

I couldn't get in last night or this morning, so it took me a while to catch up!

Hi Gydell

You're right, it's very quiet here.

Well, I'll post some news. My son, Matt, plays on the AVP Beach Volleyball tour and is playing in a tournament at Huntington Beach today. He won both his matches today! The tournament is a double elimination format, so when you lose twice, you are out. Since he won both his matches today, he can do no worse then 9th place. He plays again tomorrow morning.

This is the first time he won two matches in the winners bracket! I'm very excited for him!!!

Ken
:woohoo:

Oh and DD passport came today!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Well done work finally and what a day it was. Worst part is that we found out that the oldest made the select Lacrosse team, so we had 2 pratcies this week, he has a kayaking practice Sat morning and Wednesday, Lacrosse practice Monday, game Tuesday. I have a meeting Sunday night and the youngest has swimming on the weekend. Oh and DW needs to put the finishing touches on her pirate costume so that is tomorrow night shot. So that leaves us on Thursday night to finish packing...........AHHHH

Oh well, at least most of the clothes are already out on the bed for the kids, we just need to put everything in the suit cases. Good thing I have a list.......ok maybe not......Going to be a very very stressful and crazy week for us. Friday is not going to get here soon enough I don't think

Oh and to top it off I moved most of 7 yards of soil tonight, had a bobcat to help but I still had to spread it out once it was dumped. Little tired now.

Cheers!!

Pat

O.K., we're seriously behind everyone in the packing dept. We just had a change of plans today. We're leaving for Fl. on Wednesday and I haven't begun to pack!! My dh has been away on business for 2 weeks and will (hopefully) be home tomorrow evening so I guess subconsciously I'm waiting for some moral support. My school district pretty much told me to leave early so they would save money!! Maybe they will, but I'm afraid to see our bar bill...

We're hoping to be at the port early to meet everyone. The countdown is on.

Hey, we were all out shopping.:lmao:
Did you pick-up a Bubba Mug at WalMart. Scott owns stock there you know. :)

We came back to see Disney Weddings on the Food Channel.
Should be kinda neat. Should have seen this show first, huh?:goodvibes

Johnny Depp was on Inside the Actor's Studio today. I don't know what year it's from! They are actually allowing him to smoke a cigarillo on stage. Surprising what Bravo channel can get away with! C

Dh and I packed the wine tonight. Here I am standing over the 12 pack and the 6 pack box and I say to DH, "Hmm, it doesn't look like enough.":lmao:

So Dh gets the wine list out that I printed off the other night that I think Linda posted and he says, "Well at least this wine list is better than the one we had on Carnival!":rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We are buying a bottle of Grand Manier (sp) when we get to Orlando, as we are out here or I'd look at the bottle! It's will be cheaper there, too! :cool1:

Disney called tonight about transfers. I told them we were all set and they said okay. Didn't even get a "Have a magical night!" :rolleyes1

Busy night here, having three friends (of the kids') over and we are having snack night tonight because Ds10 has a (Special Olympic) track meet on Sunday -- all day and we have our fellowship group pot luck, at our house, at 5pm Sunday night!:scared1: I don't even know if DS and I will be home by then.

All in the life of a mom. I don't know if I'll get back tonight, so, if not have a great night!

We are right there with you in the packing department! We have a VERY busy week ahead of us and nothing packed!

We will be spending all day Monday in LA getting DH and DD passports! With traffic we will not be home till late that night. I am not looking forward to it but it was the only way to get passports this late in the game!

Now that all of my magnets are made maybe I can focus on packing. :rotfl:

Can someone please tell me that the employees on the cruise are nicer then the ones who you talk to on the phone. I have been so disappointed with how unfriendly some of them are. Some have been great, some not so great (like the one I talked to today)

Can someone tell me how the dress it for the Semi-Formal nights?

DH has 2 uniforms that he can bring... Mess Dress should be worn when tuxs are worn so that should be what we bring for hte formal night. It is not however my favorite uniform.

He also has Dress Blues (Marine uniform most people recognize). I was thinking he could wear that on the semi-formal night.

Here are my concearns...
1. Bringing 2 uniforms, it is really worth it???

2. Will he be over dressed on a semi-formal night in the Dress Blues. (In certain settings and without medals it is equivilent to a suit worn by civilians)

If anyone can shed light on the dressing situation that would be great! And i thought it was hard to pick out my outfits. :rotfl:

PS - My husband is so not stressing over this. I am the one who is putting WAY too much thought into this. He just says "whatever you want me to wear I will bring"

I got 5 Bubba mugs for the pool this summer!

Do not worry. :teeth:

I would pack one. Semi-formal can be a big deal, but doesn't have to be.

Ok, word to the wise about LA passport office.

1 - They have been very unfriendly and downright hostile to most people.
2 - Bring copies of your tax returns or bank statements or utility bills or something showing that you had bills being mailed to you to a US address from 5 years ago. I kid you not, they asked for that for our friends where the wife (naturalized) got her's in 13 weeks and they had to go in for her husbands (US/Calif Born) and they actually asked for that on the second day
3 - Be prepared to have to spend a second day there
4 - If you sent in your paper work and certified copy of the birth certificates I hope you have another set. They seem to have problems getting copies faxed to them or finding your original passport request
5 - Make sure you have the copy of the documents showing you are leaving and on what date. Also, don't just have the airline info showing you are going to Orlando. Make sure you have the cruise docs showing you are sailing to Spain and MUST have a passport to fly home from there and make sure you have docs for EVERYONE who needs a passport

I seriously wish I was kidding or exaggerating about this but I am not. Oh and I don't care what time your appointment is, be prepared to spend the whole day there. Pack snacks and water, etc. And remember that Monday morning traffic is horrible.

That being said, I wish you good luck!!

One should be fine. Maybe just a couple of extra shirts. No one notices a man in the same tux over and over. And I am sure it is the same with a Marine in his handsome uniform. They just look good, not matter how many nights in a row they get dressed up, tux or dress blues!!

Laura,

Thanks for the info.

Our appt is at 7:30 am so we are spending the night up there. There is no way I am dragging my DD-1 out of bed at 4:00am to sit in horrible LA traffic.

I really apprieciate the heads up on everything.

Friends of ours who are going on the cruise also did this week and got through without a problem but it did take ALL day. I will not take any chances however. I will bring everything that you talked about with me. The last thing I want to do it drive up there Sunday night and be there till Tuesday. I will never be packed :lmao: . And I will have no more hair left on my head!

DH's is a renewal (short form application). I am hoping that helps the process. His expires in July. I wish they did not have that 6 month rule for the expiration date. My DH said "why is there even a date if it is not even good enough???"

DD on the other is new. Maybe the fact that my BH is in the military will help??? Who knows!!!

Thanks again for all of the info. I am going to start collecting all of this stuff now to bring with us.

I have NOTHING from Disney though. All I have is the stuff I can print from online. Urgh! I hope that is ok for them.

I haven't started packing yet - hey, I'm a whole week away from leaving! :bored:
Plenty of time.:hourglass
I did get out the suitcases - now the cat is spending nap time in the suitcase.
Just warning anyone allergic to cat fur - stay out of my suitcase! :rolleyes1

Thanks for the warning! I will make sure that my DD does not play in your suitcases as she will be sneezing all over you afterwards! :rotfl:

The stuff you print out online from Disney should be fine. Make sure that you print out your itinerary and then your cruise check-in docs also, just to be sure. Did you do your air thru DCL? If so, you should have that online also, showing leaving CA for FL and then Barcenlona to CA. If not, print out your e tickets from who ever you purchased them through.

A week from now I will be in my room at OKW not able to sleep because I will be on a cruise the next morning!

Three more days of work, and of course 2 of them have night meetings so those will be long days. This weekend will be the hair appointment and the packing of bags.

This cruise can not come soon enough. Been a pretty stressful time at work and it will take me all of the 14 days on the ship to wind down!

Did a little update to the roster. Was able to get a couple more room numbers. Also updated the map. I will say... Party on Deck 2!  :cool1: :cool1:

We did purchase through DCL. THe problem is that the air is listed for my DD's room but not for my husband and I's room. I printed out our itinerary from Delta though. Atleast the stuff from DCL for my DH shows that the cruise is going to other countries. I guess we will just have to wait and see how Monday goes.

Wish us luck!
