Ken--Thanks for posting the link to the photo with your son. we enjoyed it.

Stephanie--There will be water in the pools when you board. Make sure you have swim suits in your carry on as you won't get your bags until late in the afternoon or possibly even into the evening. They do close up the Goofy pool (it has a "deck" which goes over it) so it can be used as a dance floor during the sail away party--but the Mickey Pool stays open right on through.

You are missing seeing someone post the YEAR of the cruise on the meet thread (or else they posted incorrectly). There is a May 3-10 cruise in 2008! I just double checked in the DCL website. The Magic leaves tomorrow on a 7 night cruise:)

You're so smart! I knew I was missing something!!

 C.

Hey, have they fixed cell phone reception in the Atlantic so my boss can reach me???? :rolleyes1 popcorn::

Yes, I really need to get that worked out as well.... NOT!!!!! You will have to catch me first! Had a few excellent conversations today where people expressed total shock that I will be out of contact for my Transatlantic cruise. Umm, it is a vacation?!

 C.

OMG I am the same way. Gotta put clean sheets on the bed before I leave and make sure it is all dusted and vacuumed before I go. And towels in the bathroom, so I don't even have to worry about it when I walk through the door. Kinda helps extend the vacation mode. Clean sheets, clean bathrooms, clean house. Not to mention, who wants to come home to a mess. It will be messy enough once you unpack!!!:rotfl:

TOTALLY how I am. It is even more important after being on a cruise than a regular vacation becuase afer I spend a week (or two:cool1: ) having a "room ninja" keep everything perfect how can I go home to a mess?

We are flying out of LAX at 11:10. We land in Orlando at 6:50. I am pretty sure we are on the same plane as Ken. So I will mob him at LAX :rotfl: .

Hey, I just figured out after way too long how to respond to multiple posts at a time... We are getting in (American) at 6:30. I wonder how many of us will be wandering around and not knowing it...

I heard that in LA and Chicago they only take the first 18 people in line. Once they hit 18 people, they close for the day. (supposedly it takes a full work day to handle 18 people)

Any truth to it??

Well, I know that people even with appointments were getting there first thing in the morning even with appointments. If anyone's in Chicago, do let me know as I work across the street from the main passport office. GOOD LUCK to anyone still dealing with passports!

 C.

I feel your pain!!! Got my hair done today but nails and facial are Wednesday. I HAVE to get packed this weekend, or I will be the crazy lady with all tops and no pants or all pants and no tops and the underwear could end up left behind!!! :scared1:

I was wondering, I am bringing some post it notes with me, so that IF we are able to upgrade at the port, we can post a note on the door saying we moved to room XXXX. I figure we will also post it on the door monitor signs too. Does that sound like a good idea?
Thanks for the reminder to pack underwear. I did forget one vacation - no underwear and no sleepwear. Thankfully, I was able to make a Walmart stop. Guess I won't be able to do that on the cruise.

Don't put post-it notes on the door. I think that is one of the things that DCL said they were having a problem with. I'm hoping to post all the upgrade cabin numbers on the message boards before handing them out. So let me know at the port or at the 3:00 DIS meet (or call me - cabin #6639). Also, I volunteered to keep the master list of cabin numbers, so people can call me for that information also.

Can someone tell me how the dress it for the Semi-Formal nights?

DH has 2 uniforms that he can bring... Mess Dress should be worn when tuxs are worn so that should be what we bring for hte formal night. It is not however my favorite uniform.

He also has Dress Blues (Marine uniform most people recognize). I was thinking he could wear that on the semi-formal night.

Here are my concearns...
1. Bringing 2 uniforms, it is really worth it???

2. Will he be over dressed on a semi-formal night in the Dress Blues. (In certain settings and without medals it is equivilent to a suit worn by civilians)

If anyone can shed light on the dressing situation that would be great! And i thought it was hard to pick out my outfits. :rotfl:

PS - My husband is so not stressing over this. I am the one who is putting WAY too much thought into this. He just says "whatever you want me to wear I will bring"

Whatever he wears, you and family can be certain that you are surrounded by people that appreciated what that uniform stands for and the sacrifice your family is making on our behalf.

Tell him thank you for us...

I've never had a foreign country honor my US prescriptions (type 1 diabetic), although I always travel with emergency prescriptions. However, I've always been been able to get anything I ever needed over the counter quite easily at a local chemist (identified by green crosses on the shop sign), from insulin, syringes, to cipro, antibotic ointments etc. everywhere - UK, Spain, Bosnia, Mynamar, literally everywhere. AND........i've always come across someone who can translate for me, the prescriptions are dramatically cheaper without insurance than we pay here with insurance~!

a much pricier option is to have the ship's doctor faciliate the transaction for you.

Greetings from the World!

We arrived....our flights were a pain...delayed the first leg so that the time between our connections was less than 15 minutes so we were literally SPRINTING through the Atlanta airprot....and the gates were as far apart as they could physically be!! Then once we just barely made that flight, we sat down, they shut the doors, and we proceeded to sit hot and sticky on the plan for 45 minutes waiting in line to take off....ggrrr!!!

But we're here and thrilled to be so!

Hello ... It just dawned on me that you folks are leaving in a week. :woohoo:

Have a great trip and take care of the magic for us!!!

:grouphug: to all of you

Have a fantastic time!!!!

Thanks for the reminder to pack underwear. I did forget one vacation - no underwear and no sleepwear. Thankfully, I was able to make a Walmart stop. Guess I won't be able to do that on the cruise.

Our first Disney cruise, I was very excited to wear my "fancy" dress. For Christmas one year, the catalog had a long black dress with embroidered silver Mickey heads for the empire waistline, and I bought it at a good discount. Someone had even returned the matching shoes to my Mom's Disney Store so I was able to get them really cheap. We had gone to WDW for a week, and while we were packing up at the AKL to get ready to go to the boat I was dismayed to find that I had packed the shoes, nylons, slip, matching jewelry BUT I FORGOT TO PACK THE DRESS!!!

So while we're waiting for the town car driver to pick us up, I ran into the shop and found a nice denim button down shirt so I could "bump" what I was planning to wear down a day, so I didn't look like a complete slob on the fancy dress night.

For this trip, I have made a spreadsheet listing all the clothes I need to bring so hopefully I can avoid that misfortune this trip. I'm sure I will forget something, I just hope its something a little less important.

starting to read through the posts but here's a little info about me...
My name is Keith my wife Amber my DS Connor (5) and DD Sammy (7) will be coming from Los Angeles. and yes my wife is in a little panic mode but we'll pull it off. Last year we jumped on a RCL cruise with only 3 days notice so this should be a breeze, hehehe. We are staying in Barcelona, what a blast for some of you to do back to back cruises. Just found a hotel yesterday, phew. Then w are off to London. the kids are so excited they can't sleep through the night. Lucky us. Thanks for the guidance so far.

Is everyone else feeling the "final week" pressure?;)

My kids put their suitcases in their rooms a few days ago. Every night before bed they ask me what item they should add. They are so cute! It's to bad they don't actually fold anything! :rotfl:

After talking to my DH (Mike) about how often we will be doing laundry on the ship. We decided the children needed a few more outfits. So, I have been shopping like a crazy person for the past 2 days. I love to HAVE to go shopping!! ;) I tell you  the sacrifices I make for my family.:lmao:ll

With all the shopping I had to do, I am behind on the boards again. I will try and catch up on every thing in the morning.

Ted will wear his Navy mess dress for formal night and he will endure being asked "Where is the closest restroom" countless times as many passengers assume he is a crew member. On semi-formal evenings he'll wear a blazer and slacks with a shirt and tie.

Good Morning All

Erik--Glad you made it safe and sound even if a bit worse for wear.:)

Laundry--Personally I am hoping to avoid doing it on this trip. We generally manage a week ay WDW and a 7 night cruise without doing it so I amthinking htis shouldn't be impossible. Right?:rolleyes1

Here is a little tip most of you know but it may help some of the new folks out. The room safe is locked/unlocked with a magnetic strip. Many people use their Key To The World cards for this. Then only one KTTW card will open it. So, say we use DHs card and then I order room service and he is ???, then I can't get to the cash for tipping (and many other reasons why one person may want in there). We always leave most of the contenets of out walllets at home, but we alwasy bring one "worhtless" item with a magnetic strip on it (when we lived in the "big city" our library cards had them and we would bring one). We use IT for the safe and stash in an agreed upon location in the room that we both can find whenever we need/want it.

One week from NOW we will be eating a hotel breakfast as we get ready to drive down to the Magic:banana:
