I don't have any that look like either one of these. Since my transfer is from the ship directly to the airport, maybe I don't need anything for that. At least I don't have the one that says I haven't purchased any ground transfers, so maybe I'm OK.

Just be sure you do have the transfers that you need. We were all a bit upset to find this out - Disney has just mucked this around a bit too much. They changed my room to keep me in the same room for both cruises without telling anyone - we found out when the docs arrived. we are still sorting this one out. But - the transfers are a real mess - I have to talk to someone tomorrow to get it all fixed. Just read carefully that you do have the ones that you have paid for, and they go where and when you need them to!

I did it!!

I am completely packed!! Today was my last night off before I leave in 9 days. My bags are 49 lb each...whew. I love my digital scale (only sometimes :scared1:  ) I carry a fishing scale that is actually pretty accurate for on the fly. Just so people are aware - most of the WDW resorts have baggage scales now since you can check in at the resort. I would hope that the hotels in Europe might also - even if they are in Kilos (just multiply by 2.2 to get the pounds)

It took me over 2 hours to get caught up...last I checked the boards was at 6pm yesterday...today I had 23 pages to read...

Do you have RA? Some people have the psorasis as a symptom...get some more sun...people won't really notice the patches
By RA, do you mean Arthritis? Yes, I'm starting showing signs of that in my shoulders and hips. But it's a bit more complicated because for the better part of the last 2 years I have been suffering from Polymyalgia Rhematica, so it's hard to sort out the symptoms.

Well thank you to all for your concern about the rabbit. She had a very agressive tumor that had spread throughout her lungs, stomache, etc and had to be put down. So now we have one lonely bunny out side and two pretty upset kids. This was technically Marika's rabbit and was the only pet she has ever had. She is in total denial. She stayed in the car for almost two hours while we were at the vet--refused to come in and will not talk about it now. She's reading like it will kill her to stop. Rio is acting more like "normal" sad and telling her Willy (his bunny) can be hers now too. Hard enough to go through, but much harder to watch the kids deal with this. I am so glad she didn't get like this while we were gone as the poor tenageer from next door who keeps them when we travel would have ahd no idea what to do and she probably would have suffered longer.

Speaking of which, my psoriasis has decided to flare and my legs look like I have chicken pox or something. I probably won't be able to wear a swim suit for the cruise, or even shorts for that matter.

If I waited until my skin was clear to wear shorts, I would never wear them. :)

Don't worry gals, I haven't worn shorts since I was 4 years old. Since I was a teenager I've had the worst varicose veins you've ever seen, no shorts, no skirts, barely a bathing suit. I used to watch those sales commercials and videos of the "beautiful people on the cruises" you know the ones with the perfect abs and legs. I never thought I'd go on a cruise!!! Then I realized that the "real people" on the cruises were more normal like me with the "Extra everything!"

So true!:rotfl2: My packing avoidance tactics this morning were
1. email three of DD13's teachers again about her missing school (no response to last weeks email from 3 of the 5 teachers) and the principal about missing the last day of STAR (state) testing.

So much for worrying about the teachers freaking out!
Results:
1. Nada from the teachers still, BUT school is going to have DD13 take the last day's Tests on May 10 before we go:banana:  . She is a straight A student and they want her scores to count! She'll definitely score well in Math, Spelling - not so much:confused3 :rotfl2: .

3. Really needed to do this - My family will be happy to have something beside "pantry surprise" for dinner again.:rotfl2:

We've been eating everything out of our freezer for two weeks now... NO more shopping before we leave. We have to clean out the fridge!!

Just got back from Target where I bought another rolling duffle. I would have never thought about the rolling duffles until, all of you mentioned them. Also, while standing at the check out was the Tide to go... OH Disboarders said I need that too! plop 2 on the checkstand!

OK Elizabeth... pixiedust: pixiedust:

Yeah, Cayla!!!

OH Hadley, how sad... Thank goodness you found out before leaving and didn't leave and then find out. Sending some goods thoughts your way.

Hadley, so sorry for the loss. Our thoughts are with you guys...

We are just devastated and crying over here too - especially for Marika. In fact, Hadley, you might want to go into your e-mail, Abby sent her a note about the rabbit and she hoped it was okay, if it will upset her, delete it before she sees it and know that Marika is in our thoughts.

So sorry to hear about your rabbit. Kinda know what you are going through.
Our first beagle, Tippy, succumbed to cancer. However, hers was slow growing. When we were on the 11 day cruise, each day we hoped that we would not get bad news about her from my son.
Our thoughts are with you.

Oh Hadley - I am sorry you lost a pet today. I had a cat that I had to put down 2 years ago - I still miss him. I hope your daughter will be alright...good luck and all the pixie dust I can manage will be coming your way!

Hadley, so sorry about your loss. I understand Marika's need to read. I think at some point DD's replaced their "blankies" with a book. It is how they deal and cope with difficulties of all kinds. :wizard: that she (and you all) will feel better soon.

For more information than you can possibly use, see http://dpreview.com

Added - Some of the following doesn't apply to you but I don't know what you know so I don't know what to leave out.

The D50 is a digital SLR (DSLR). All of the current DSLRs have more photo quality than most of us will ever be able to take advantage of.

Heck, the point and shoots are now getting really good http://rickleephoto.blogspot.com/2007/04/studio-photography.html and I've heard of a camera phone that is approaching them.

This is important because any camera that you have with you is better than one that is not with you.

There are cases that let you use SLRs underwater but they're expensive. There are water-resistant point and shoots (enough for casual snorkelling). Water-tight cases for the point and shoots are a lot cheaper but they are model specific. (Water absorbs red so you may want to color adjust for underwater. Some cameras try to do this for you - see below - or you can photoshop it later.)

Seriously consider image stabilization (IS) - you'll get more good pictures. Most newer mid-range and better point and shoots have it these days. (Some/all Sony SLRs have IS in the camera body. Canon&Nikon put it in the lens and some lens don't have it. In the body means that you have IS regardless of lens. However, Canon and Nikon have a much wider variety of lens, they're cheaper used, and some of them are beyond superb if you're into that sort of thing.)

Ignore digital zoom - you can get that when editing with the computer and it's never as good as optical. Unless you go with a DSLR, you want "enough" optical zoom. However, you won't see (good) 10x in a small camera. Too little zoom means that you get to edit or miss the shot.

If you're just taking pictures of small groups of people within 20 feet, 3x zoom will do. They're not very good for scenery and they're not very good if you're trying to take pictures of the shows, but they're almost impossible to shoot anyway because of the extreme dynamic range. (You can get good pictures of spotlighted things, but everything else will be black or you can get good pictures of the rest, but the spotlighted things will be all white. If you want both, you have to combine images.)

For DSLRs, you get 10x zoom range by switching lens or by spending a lot of money on a very heavy lens. (No, they don't solve the show problem. The good pictures that they use for advertising are staged with lighting designed for photography.)

If you've used a digital camera that you like, there's some chance that another camera from same family. (Canon's point&shoots are more like one another than they are like the DSLRs and I assume that the same is true of Nikon, Sony, et al.)

The big advantage of the DSLRs over point and shoots is the size of the sensor. Bigger can be way better. There are point and shoots with more "megapixels" than the D50, but the D50 gets more information out of each pixel. It also does a better job with less light. (Most point and shoots top out at 400 or maybe 800 ISO. The D50 almost certainly goes to 1600. Remember high-speed film for taking pictures at night? That was 1600 or faster.)

Some cameras that don't have interchangeable lens are roughly the same size as DSLRs. They have bigger sensors than point and shoots and some have decent 10-12x optical zoom range. These are good things.

FWIW - Char has the Canon XT (SLR also). It's a nice size and lets her use the lens that she bought for her canon 35mm. (If you own a couple of lens that you like, switching to another brand is very expensive.) The XTi (newest model) has a self-cleaning sensor. (When you switch lens, you can get dust on the sensor.) I have a 20d (also canon, because I want to use her lens). It's the same size as typical 35mm SLRs (remember them?) but its big advantage is 3200. Yes, it's more grainy than 1600 but when the alternative is no picture....

We also have a canon point and shoot that we also use underwater. It's older, so no IS, but it does color-adjust in the camera for underwater. (Even if you're going to photoshop, that provides more data for photoshop to work with AND it means that you don't have to photoshop as often. I wish that our DSLRs had that option because I have a lot of photos taken from a submarine that require photoshoping.)

Wow, and I fancied myself quite the tech geek, with all the latest and greatest technological gadgets and electronics. Time for me to realize, maybe I need more schooling on some stuff. :rolleyes1 Great explanations!

Everyone on this thread is so sweet. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words. :grouphug: I know the loss of a bunny hardly compares to the losses others of you have gone through recently.

Rio told me when I tucked him in he was really sad but he has decided to be happy Hook is not in pain any more and to think about good things like the cruise.

Marika took an entire bag full of books upstairs with her and is not spekaing of rabbits at all. I think I am going to let her cope in her own way and not force the issue (and let her read as late as she needs just this once). Sandi, thanks for the heads up on Abby's nice note. Marika only looks at email if I tell her something is there. For the time being I am going to leave it alone and just not mention it to her and then see how she is in a day or two.

Yep that was what I meant - I used to have a friend who had it very badly. He was very uncomfortable in the heat. I am glad to hear that is not a problem (RA) for you.

I did it!!

I am completely packed!! Today was my last night off before I leave in 9 days. My bags are 49 lb each...whew. I love my digital scale (only sometimes :scared1:  )

ugh - forgot some unmentionables...and went looking for my spare wrist bands...had to undo and redo all the bags. Oh well - 49.5 each. At least I know I am under...whew....at least I can work without worrying (spelling??) about this last thing. I have one thing on my do to list. That one might not get done, but I really hope I get to it!

So, to everyone who has more time before we leave - happy packing :rotfl:

So sorry Hadley. :sad2: Good wishes your way, and yes, letting her cope in her own way is probably the best idea. I can't even stand the thought of having to put my dog down. Sometimes at work during a massage I have a breif moment of thought about it, as I had to do it to my cat some time back, and I cry just at the thought. :sad1:

If I waited until my skin was clear to wear shorts, I would never wear them. :)

Don't worry gals, I haven't worn shorts since I was 4 years old. Since I was a teenager I've had the worst varicose veins you've ever seen, no shorts, no skirts, barely a bathing suit. I used to watch those sales commercials and videos of the "beautiful people on the cruises" you know the ones with the perfect abs and legs. I never thought I'd go on a cruise!!! Then I realized that the "real people" on the cruises were more normal like me with the "Extra everything!"

Oh, I have had terrible veins, as well. I had surgery in 2000, and this past year I've been having a new treatment, injection treatments. But I am going to wear my shorts on the ship and my bathing suit too, so there! Because I am a princess!princess:

beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I behold me in the mirror and find me just fine....I am sure each of you do as well! (Having a great partner who accepts me as I am certainly helps a lot!!)

Just be beautiful and comfortable...
