Does anyone have a picture of the banner? I would love to see just how big the Panama banner was...

You know another thought I had about using fabric......is our Walmart here in Rochester (and thus all Walmarts everywhere, I'm sure) always has a pretty large selection of fabric that is only $1/yard....I used this to make some room dividing curtains for our laundry room that I wanted to be able to hide clutter behind but didn't want to spend money on good fabric since it's just our laundry and storage room. I bet we could find some fabric there and buy it by the yard for a banner...in white or any other color we wanted....$5 would buy us a piece of fabric that was about 5 foot by 15 foot....which is certainly a respectable banner size......

.....the more I offer tips the more I sound like I'm volunteering to help with one....which I suppose I wouldn't be opposed to! Has someone already started thinking of a banner idea and such? do you want help? Or do we want me to work on one? A banner is something I think I could definitely work on before the trip....especially since it's really looking like I'm not going to have the finances and time to make individual goodies for every person or every cabin....a banner is way more do-able for me (& Jason...although he's somewhat artistically challenged...heheheh)

Here is a picture of the banner.... it was one long roll of paper then when we were sailing away we put it on the outside of the ship.

That banner looks GREAT! :sail: I would help, if anybody needs me.

I live in Orlando, and I can bring stuff to the port,:car: so long as I don't have to bring it home again! Or if you are staying in the area before, I could bring it to your hotel or to the Pre Cruise wine and cheese party!
party:
Just let me know

Well I have 2 theories on Pirate night....I suspect it's going to be either the 2nd or 3rd night of the cruise (so that the Pirates of the Caribbean party happens while we're actually IN the CAribbean)....OR it'll get held off and coincide with the onboard debut of the film....now we just have to guess what night that will be!
Erik

pirate: If we don't have "Pirate Night" we'll have to wear our Pirate outfits to dinner anyway!

Thanks for posting the pics Debbie.:thumbsup2
They bring back so many good memories.
The head in pic #2 is Scott's.
I recognize several people in the banner pics.
Don't see me though. :sad2: I was there....really I was.
It was such a great trip. Met so many wonderful people.

Here is one of my favorite pics......

I do love that pic too Bob :thumbsup2

And where is Scott?? Shouldn't he be back soon?!?!? Hope he did not get lost on his safari!

Debbie

No I am not. If it was not the year after this cruise I may have considered it. Just not able to swing 2 years in a row.

It was an amazing trip!

Debbie

With so many days at sea, I think we should get a Bunco group going!

Also, does anyone like to play skipbo? I have Disney Skipbo. I'll bring them along! Connie:jumping1:

Hi Smores, well we still don't know about pirate night - we're hoping they let us know before we leave!

There is a pirate night described in the packet - no date yet - for BOTH the crossing and the first med cruise. Somehow people have started a rumor that they are not having them - DCL says they are...just not date assigned as of yet :)

I managed to abscond with a full set of the menus from the Westbound Panama cruise - I have photos of them on PhotoBucket - I will see if I can post links - the actual pictures were posted a long time ago, and deleted due to space by the moderators (I think the thread had expired as well).

I do NOT reccommend doing this - since I have yet to have figured out a way to display them - they sit in a safe flat location...awaiting a flash of brillance! Open they are 18x22, but the covers are as pretty as the menu is interesting - so I was originally thinking about a poster type thing - well - I have no open wall space to handle that size thing - thus they sit...

If someone is interested in a specific one - please PM me I will send a link. Here is the list of the menu names:

Animators Palate (regular menu)
Around the World (its a small world theme)
Captains dinner (formal night)
First Night (Let the Magic Begin)
Golden Mickeys (formal night)
Last Night (sorry to see you leave)
Lumieres (regular menu)
Lumieres breakfast (regular menu)
Master Chef
Panama Canal Day (had image of the jumbo pin)
Parot Cay (regular menu)
Pirate Night
Prince & Princess Gala
Taste of California
Tropicali-fragilisticexpialidocious (tropical night)

I am not sure if this is any help or not - I have the dessert menus as well.

Thanks all for the kind thoughts about Yuki.

Bob, congrats on Belle, KEWL pup, didn’t want to get a Spike, Snoopy’s brother?? She is a cutie for sure.

We are back from a great trip. Have some notes on DLP and Paris thoughts I will post later when I get back on Mountain Time.

I told you guys not to post too much, LOL!!! Looks like thirty pages to skim and get shore excursions together. Found page 143 Post 1 and left it there. Will go with the flow. Iff I missed something really important let me know.

Welcome Home Scott and Lynn!!! We missed you!

Good Morning Everyone - another day closer to cruising!!!!!

Ken

DLP and Paris Visit Thoughts:

We stayed at the DL Hotel at DLP and here are some observations – note this was off season.

1. Breakfast and park admission is included with your room. Including check in day and check out day.

2. The breakfast is a pretty darn good spread. A buffet, with meats ( hot and cold), breads, cereal, eggs, pastries, Juice, coffee, etc.

3. There are characters at the breakfast.

4. Eat early to avoid the crowds.

5. We got a Hotel Fast Pass to use each day of our stay.

6. Food in the park is good and on a European price scale, I think slightly higher than at WDW.

7. Big Thunder at night is KEWL!!!!

8. Remember to use your US appliances you may need a voltage converter not just a plug adaptor.

9. CDG is a mess with construction.

10. VEA is a good service to use to get to DLP. 16E per adult.

11. If you are going to use the RER during your stay a Moblis Pass is a good deal, better the Visitor Pass. If you just want transportation. If you want some discounts on restaurants in Paris and I think museums, the Visitor pass is a good deal. A one day Moblis was 12.50 E.

12. RER is easy to use, remember to hold on to your ticket as you need it to leave the stations.

13. Seemed like there were a lack of Cast members accompanying the Characters.

14. TOT maybe up by the end of May.

15. 15 Year celebration starts 15/4/07

16. Don’t miss Cinamagic, and Anamagic (SP?)

17. Check the show time and schedules for the English versions.

18. CD burning is available at the Camera Center on Main Street, cost is 12 E for the first, 6E fro the second and 4.50E for the 3ed. Didn’t ask is that was fro separate media cards.

19. Rock and Roller coaster, lacks the theme of the Florida version. A good ride.

20. Space Mt is KEWL , Lynn thought it to be rather rough.

21. Mark Twain needs a good rehab, along with other attractions. Maybe due to the changing climate.

22. Don’t touch the mini bar in you hotel room, WOW is it prices, 4.50E for a coke, mini bottle of liquor was 9-11E, 3.5 E for a kit kat bar, and not a big one. If you lift it out you bought it.

23. If you are a share holder an a shareholders club member you will have access to Salon Mickey, a private club from 9-12 AM. Also there are 15% discount at all Disney shops even those in the park.

24. Fast passes are for a ½ hour window. Maybe an off season thing.

25. Don’t forget to make copies of your passports and keep them in separate locations.

26. There were no Mouse Ice Cream bars to be found.

27. Smoking is everywhere, except restaurants and ques.

28. If you see a sign in the shops that says Promotions that means the stuff is on sale.

29. Popcorn is sweet and tasty. Kinda like Kettle Corn.

30. Some of the ride are self loading , with no CM directing you. Again maybe a seasonal thing.

31. Pin Trading did not seem to be a big thing. It was there but not like in the States.

32. RER vending machines are easy to use.

33. Use the info center outside of Down Town Disney and the Train station, very helpful and some RER discounts are available. I.E. tickets on the RER to the Val De Europe Shopping Mall.

34. Go to the Val De Europe Mall for diner, cheaper than DLP.

35. Don’t’ Miss the arcades on both side of Main street. Covered passageways, with interesting displays.

36. If using the VEA, their credit card reader worked about 50% of the time, can get tickets at the info center.

Just some of my random thoughts. If flying out of CDG, give yourself plenty of time fro security, 3 hours is not unreasonable.

OK so nobody answered the banner post I asked about... who made the Panama Canal banner and how was it made? Also, are we allowed to bring beach balls to toss down to deck 9 for the sailing?

As far as beach balls go....I imagine the worst they could do to you is say "Please don't throw beach balls down onto all the fun loving folks below who are dancing and enjoying playing with them" hehehe :rotfl2:

As for the banner idea.....I bet a banner is something that could be done even on one of those rolls of table covering that you can buy in any party store....or even out of a long piece of fabric. When I was in college our student union building was basically two 5 story buildings about 75 feet apart and that gap between the buildings was completely glass enclosed creating huge atrium and cutting across that atrium from building to building were a bunch of bridges at different levels. Student groups on campus used to paint banners and signs to hang off the edges of the bridges and we always did it by buying cheap white or colored sheets at Walmart and then just painting them with a brush using stencils or free-hand......if we wanted to do something long and thin we could cut sheets up the middle and serge the ends of them together if anyone had a serger (which I do, actually)....it would be really short work I bet!

oh and p.s.....what exactly is tropical wear? PLEASE tell me it doesn't mean I'm going to ahve borrow a terrible hawaiian shirt from my father to wear!

Okay so I admit it, I was the banner maker. Debbie (Epcotkilterfan) is right, I waited just about until sail time to make the thing. I bought white construction paper at the school supply store so it was about 36" wide and one long roll. No tape putting it together. Then I took blue acrylic paint and a 4" foam brush and then at midnight at the hotel, I rolled out the paper from one end of the hotel room to the other and started painting the sign. As I ran out of room I got chairs from the room and started positioning the paper so it flowed like a wave up and down between the chairs. Wanted to make sure it dryed properly. Then I opened the hotel room door and painted the last of it in the hallway and then brought it back inside and hung it over the last of the luggage and then went to sleep. At 7 a.m. the next morning, we got up and I rolled up the banner and we were on our way to the port!

Don't mind doing it agin. Could go with something like "Taking the Magic to the Med. Disney's 1st EB Crossing May 12-26, 2007"

If I planned it right, I could paint it in my basement before I left. I was just busy getting the Navigators together at 6 a.m. the morning we left and didn't have time to paint, although my intentions were good!

Yes welcome back Scott! I can't wait to hear tales of Tanzania! I'm so jealous!!!
