I have not been to the Halloween festivities at DL, but the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is GREAT fun! The Headless Horseman rides through the park - I tried to get a pic last year and the stupid camera didn't work. I have a new camera and plan to catch him in digital glory this year!! We are doing a repeat of our costumes of last year...

there are 3 of us....all HUGE Disney fans...so we dressed up as....

Welcome back, Padalyn. I've been wondering where you were? That pictures is hilarious! The headless horseman, wow! Did you find some good pins? I found my entire collection of surf pins for my birthday

Welcome back Padalyn! I wondered if the Pin fairy had whisked you away, too! We thought of you on our trip actually....because one day we were in MGM and found a Tigger pin I don't already have in the little pin shop under the sorcerer's hat and when we were buying it the cashier asked us if we wanted "today's pin".....we told her we had no idea what she was talking about. She said that on that day a new pin had been released (I think it was Saturday the 16th of Sept.) and that everyone had been buying them and they only had 4 left...She showed it to us and it was actually a Disney Cruise Line pin with an image of one of the cruise ships and a small clear glass globe or bubble that looked to have some dried seaweed or wood or something in it (perhaps dried foliage from Castaway Cay???). We didn't buy it since we're not pin people (just Tigger pins....I'll have to take a picture of my bag that I carry with most my Tigger pins on it)....but I did think of you!

Anyhow, we tried to get pictures of the headless horseman too but he didn't turn out. We did get some other fun pictures of the Halloween Night (including a very cute one of Tigger in the parade dressed up like a skeleton!).

How do you get pictures to load on here? I"m jealous because I want to...but it won't work for me! Or I'm doing it wrong! Or something!

Susie and Curt,
I enjoyed your pictures so very much that I looked at them twice.
What was your favorite city?
Did the Ponte Vecchio bridge have vendors selling goods inside?
Was Pisa really pretty?
Are there many other things to see and do in Pisa?
Where is Volterra?
Favorite meal?
Thanks for sharing, made me excited to go. :moped:
Ciao,
Kelly

Speaking only for myself: Siena was one of the best places, but I also enjoyed Vernazza quite a bit. Siena has a lot of interesting little shops and restaurants, plus the historical sites. Vernazza wins on scenery and characters (we spent most of a week there, so got to see a bit more of people).

Ponte Vecchio is full of jewelers. Wikipedia has a bit of history on it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponte_Vecchio

Pisa has the leaning tower and that's pretty much it. It's a big city and I didn't find it all that interesting, but the tower was worthwhile.

Volterra is a relatively small town, built on top of a hill. Here's a google map link. We were staying in Ulignano, near Poggibonsi (and yes, those are real town names). If you go, we recommend Hotel Vecchio Asilo in the Tuscany region...

Favorite meal? Oh my. Ummm... pizza, pasta, fresh mozzarella, basil... oh dear. I don't think I can name a favorite meal, there were so many! It was ALL so good!

This is too true. In Parma I decided on the eggplant parmesan and it was so good that I swore I would never order it in the states again. I also really liked the onion focaccia in the Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre is famous for it's pestos and I tried Lasagna Pesto, Spaghetti Pesto, and Ravioli Pesto. They were all very good. I liked the white beans done Tuscan style also. I gained 5 pounds, but managed to take it off right away after getting home.

Thank you all so much for thinking of me...I just got caught up in work, work, work - have to pay for a couple of cruises next spring (he he he).

I use PhotoBucket. I upload the pictures there and then cut and paste the last line of links (not the url - I can't remember what it is called - I just know it is the bottom one!) into the post and voila - pictures appear!

I have a new camera this year - I am really hoping to get a pic of the horseman - if I do - you will all get to see it!

Good Morning Everyone. :sunny:

We have decided to join this cruise. Booked while we were on the 11 Day Southern cruise. Told Scott that I would post this and change my ticker.

I am sure that this will be a more dignfied group since we are heading to europe. No craziness like on the before mentioned cruise, such as jammie breakfasts, scotch meets, bubba mugs and groups of pirates roaming the ship. :teeth:

Looking forward to chatting with you all over the next 7½ months. I will try to catch up with the postings over the next few days.

BTW, I guess I have posted a few times already....the first post

Everybody have a great day.

Hey Bob about time ya signed up for this puppy. LOL

Not looking forward to getting home to cold , work, etc etc etc….

Gotta get some trip planning in before the next trip.

Whilst on the 11 day cruise I spoke with Captain Henry and asked about what to expect for weather on the crossing. He advised it should be dry and high temps in the 70’s and lows in the 60’s.

Yeah while we were in Florida I was researching weather, too. It appears that that week in May in Florida should be in the 70's and 80's. It looked from what I was reading online like all our other destinations (Tenerif, Ibiza, Gibraltar, & Barcelona) are usually in the low 70's during the month of May...and Jason and I assumed that it might be cooler on the days at sea out in the middle of the Atlantic (especially with wind).....so we were assuming that we could bring summer clothes for the Orlando portion and perhaps for the daytime on the cruise but then also bring some more autumny clothes (long pants, light jackets, etc.)....so I'll have to factor that into our packing weight! (Summer clothes are so much lighter than "real" clothes....ggrrrrr!).....but I think we can do it. I contacted Aer Lingus (the airline we're flying back to the US with) and we can each check up to 2 bags with a total combined weight of 80 lb. (which can be split between the 2 bags however we like so long as neither bag is more than 70lb. apparently).....so that means basically 4 bags, 160lb. When we just went to Florida for almost 2 weeks we took 2 suitcases and a bag with our toiletries...all totaling under 90 pounds...so we can basically take almost twice what we packed for this past trip...so we're feeling a bit more confident about our packing possibilities!

:tigger:

Scott, Tell us about the trip, I was thinking about you guys for the past couple of weeks watching the weather every night. I want to know all the details, show, movies, food, onboard classes, events etc.

Erik, I've been checking out Aer Lingus too, have you ever flown them? Are you going Dublin to JFK?

Welcome Bob and Lee! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

No I've never flown internationally actually.....well not since i was a kid flying with my family b/c my father was in the Air Force....and those were flights with the military. We are flying from Barcelona to Dublin and then Dublin to Chicago then Chicago back to Orlando. (Oddly enough it was actually cheaper to do all that than to just fly to JFK)

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So now that we've signed up, what now? :confused3
220+ days to go. Let's get the thread a hoppin' :cool1:

Knew you'd get us up to speed on the weather. Seas will be glass smooth right?

Have read about half way through the postings. Didn't know I had posted way back then. Really was just lurking back then. :rolleyes1

Gave Debbie our info. Sorry to see some of the names on the roster that I know are not going now. Maybe they will change their minds again.

Time for bed. Back to work tomorrow :sad2:
