May 12, 2007 -- Taking the Magic to the Mediterranean -- 14 day Repo Cruise! - Part 3

I sure enjoyed seeing the photos from everyone, and reading posts from you all! Sorry to hear about all the aches and pains.

Hadley, my email notifications must not have been working either because I got one today and popped over, and there were two new pages, so that was exciting!

It's been rather chilly in Vegas lately as well, but nothing like the sub zero temps some of you are experiencing.

We're getting ready to go on an Eastern 7 Night Caribbean next week Saturday (2/2). How will we ever do this with only 7 nights? Yikes--we still have to finish our vacation video from the May repo. We are done with Days 1-8, and it is one hour so far. We will finish that up within a month or two of coming back from this trip in February.

Thanks for bringing smiles to my face to see posts from familiar and friendly faces and screen names. Have a great week all!

I have only had the sideways wisdom tooth extraction with only novacaine. Which the dentist said "would pop out like a cherry pit" uh huh:scared1:

The next one they put me under....:rotfl:

Seems that some of our friends are coming by the thread for a visit :) So time again to announce our May get together

Open House for Disney Friends
Friday, May 2, 2008
4 pm "ish" to 8 pm "ish"
Old Key West Resort

Wine and cheese and snacks will be served. This is an open house and you can come and go as you please. Many friends from this cruise, the 2005 Panama cruise and some of my pin friends will be stopping by.

I will post from OKW my room number, or I can PM you my cell number, or last name and you can call the room where I will leave the room number on the voice mail.

Hope you can join us!

Debbie

We will have a room close by for the over flow.

OK, I have given in to peer pressure and created my own log in for these boards, so from now on, if I remember to log in under my name, I will post as myself instead of as Scott!

Very cool. Oh, now wait, I've spelled that wrong. It should be kewl. :)

Lori

Come on Lori get with it, LOL LOL after all my hard work....

Greetings all!! It's been nice reading activity on this board again the past several days and seeing pics and everything! Jason and I thought of all of you this past weekend we went to see the High School Musical Ice Tour....we had great seats right on the floor and it was very fun!!

Other than that we're just freezing our behinds off here in Upstate, trying to stay warm, and counting the days unitl we can get back to the World again (238 days, but who's counting? :lmao: )

I have a question for DVCers. Since Scott and Erik responded, it made me think of it. When you book a room using points, are you charged a fee? Thanks,

Lori

PS: Scott, I've got it now!

238!:scared1: Really. I think we arrive the same day you do. That is sooo far off (and yes it is COLD isn't it?). Deb, I wish we were going sooner not only to be there sooner but also so we oculd attend your upcomming shin dig.

I am still wondering what a 7 day will feel like (in, what, 246 days?) after our fabulous 14 nights with all of you. I am very jealous of you who are in on the PC cruise comming up. Take care of the Magic for the rest of us, okay?

No, if you book at a Disney Property you are not charged a fee. If you book at a DVC resort they just take your vacation points. If you book at a non-DVC Disney resort (i.e. Caribbean Beach, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, etc.) then they "convert" your points to being reservation points....but it is essentially the same thing.

I think there might be a nominal fee if you try to book a cruise with points but we've never done that (Scott or Kelly have done that so they could confirm) and there is also a fee if we use our points to book vacations outside the Disney system wiht one of the other timeshare companies that DVC has a relationship with.....but really that's kind of immaterial, too...because really WHO wants to do a vacation outside of Disney? It's almost unthinkable to us! :lmao:

Eric is correct, the fee for the non Disney and DCL reservations is $95 and that is for the whole reservation not per person.

Thanks for the replys! We are going to buy DVC; we just have to sell our Trendwest first. The anual fees are higher than Disney and we are always getting charge room keeping fees at every stay now. They used to only charge after the first use of the year. Anyway, we're tired of them. We bought them to use at Disney and the only thing we could ever get into was a one bedroom at Old Key West. We don't have a problem with OKW, but we are a family of 5 and a one bedroom doesn't cut it.

Have a great day,

Lori

Wow, that has gone up! I haven't booked outside the resorts in a while. The fee was waived for my Adventures by Disney trip (not sure why...I didn't ask!)

I just made my June reservation (sorry Erik haven't counted the days yet!) & I am checking into Interval International for a trip to Vegas. Does anyone know anything about Polo Towers? I can get a studio there for a week (134 points) for a LOT less than a hotel room. where exactly is this place? I can't tell from maps if it is ON the strip or behind it...a little help please?

Padalyn, sorry no info on Las Vegas locations, the Vegas folks might have some info. Just don't try to buy any sports memoribilla in your room. :rotfl: :rotfl:

FYI: :scared1:

Boards going down tonight @ 11pm Eastern

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Webmaster Alex:

We need to evaluate the effect the "long threads" are having on board performance. In order to do that we will be "hiding" the long threads for 24 hours. They will come back so no need to panic
I will be shutting the boards down around 11pm to move the threads around and make some other changes.
If you are a participant in one of these threads please feel free to start another thread tomorrow.
A long thread will be over 10,000 posts for the purpose of this experiment

Gads...does this mean we won't be able to access this thread? If we start another will they link from this one as a read only...oh, dear, dear, dear (to quote piglet)

I think we may have a "day off" while they evaluate. Seems like they have not decided what to do yet.

It would be sad not to have this thread anymore. But we can always start a new one if it does close down.
