OMG - the dress rehearsal was just gawdawful!!! I almost called FEMA twice it was such a disaster. I heard a helicopter outside once and thought it was the Governator coming in to make the declaration official. How bad can it be you say? Well here are the top ones:

1 - The dress rehearsal, which we expected to be 2.25 hours WITH intermission ran 3.75 hours, because the director kept interrupting
:scared1:
2 - One girls idea of acting is to stand there and flap her arms up and then slap them down on her thighs...over and over and over again...I swear she flapped hard enough at one poing to actually get a little airborne:banana:

3 - Oberon (king of the faries) at the very end of the play (last 5 minutes) couldn't remember his two monologues, so he just took Tatiana (queen of the fairies hand) and walked off the stage leaving Puck there looking confused:confused3

4 - One of the male leads has gotten used to calling out "LINE" when he can't remember...which he kept doing...after he missed his cue and had no idea he was supposed to be speaking. I can just see that happening tonight during the performancepopcorn::

5 - And my favorite - The greek guys are in togas (mid-calf length) and they can not get it through their heads that they need to watch how and where they bend over or raise their legs up at. One of them went to lay down and flashed everyone is tighty whities....or when they are sitting down they hike the skirt up and sit with their legs open...:sad2:

Yeah, tonight is going to be something else...fortunately I have birthday cake ordered and all us birthday girls in costumes are going to eat chocolate cake and cringe from the closed off balcony....:woohoo:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
 EEK! I am dying to read the reviews of the real thing tonight. Take notes adn enthrall us with your lively description of the tragedy (always thought Midsummer was a comdey 'til now).

Got our docs yesterday!!!Yay!!

Of course they had to come on the day my school decides to cut my services for my boys. My 11 yr old tests as a 12 month old with autism and they're telling me he is costing our district too much money!! Now I have meetings with everyone on the board , teachers, therapists, you name it. Anyway, I know there are a few homeschoolers out there. Do you mind if I ask a few questions during our trip? On a beautiful relaxing sea day of course! Thanx for letting me vent. I should be getting all excited about this trip, and know I'm just all upset.

I did too!!! I also didn't think it was almost 4 hours long!!! :rolleyes1 Who knows toight they may talk so fast or forget so many of their lines that it may be the Reader's Digest condensed version and only 45 minutes long...INCLUDING intermission!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'd be happy to do a little research about private institutions available to you in your area if you need it. PM me your city and I'll do some research. I teach in several autism schools out here and can find out anything about any school.

Ask away. On any day. And then just tell me when you want me to shut up:rotfl2:

I hope you can get some resolution with the distrct this week so you can RELAX on the cruise.

Oh...poor Laura....When it's all over and done with just focus on this:

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended
That you have but slumb'red here,
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
If you pardon, we will mend.
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends here long;
Else the Puck a liar call:
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends
.

None of it really happened.....it was all a dream....and the fairies will make up for all of it in the end! ;)

(p.s. Puck is one of my all time favorite literary characters and I have played him in three different productions of Midsummer)

OH, KEWL. you are only a few doors down from us, we are right next to the big deck 7 "secret" balcony

Connie

KEWL for sure, For some reason I think we have meet on a previous cruise. Will have to exercise those little grey cells.

When I flew to Orlando in January, Tom was on my flight with his family (see-it was my flight! :rotfl:) Anyway, I was in first class along with he and his wife and I asked him about the transatlantic crossing. He said he had already done that before so he wasn't coming on the May cruise. He said he is going on a Med. cruise in June after his girls got out of school (they were sitting in coach, also where my DH and DD were).

Anyway, if he is on the ship he will be getting off before we leave the port. Hope he makes a short appearance so we can say hi!

That would be nice. Maybe I will see him in LA next week,.... LOL

Laura we will be awaiting the reviews.. just too funny

JImmy Concert, 4/28, listen in on Sirius, RM, or whever ,

Physical went well, pretty darn healthy for an old guy... BP was up a bit, nothing a vacation could fix....

Off work early today, having lunch with Lynn KEWL.....

Mickeysquared, hang in there, I have a few explitavies for schools that are motivated by $$$ rather than doing hte jopb for the kids. I really see advantages to home schooling as long as there is a social component

Well, on the bright side, you are bringing humor into our lives!!! LOVE the dress rehearsal description (I choked on my coffee at the mental image of immodest teens in togas) and can't wait to hear how the real thing goes! (from a safe distance, of course). :lmao:

 C.

Any guess of what percentage of DIS'er's are on the sailing? I'm guessing at least 20%.

:confused3 :confused3

Has anyone gotten their doc's but not all of them?

We are missing doc's for 1 room for the Med. 26th sailing. How weird, you would think that those two rooms would come together and maybe the repo doc's would come separate, but to have the repo and 1 room come together and the other room come separately?
:rolleyes1

Erik--While we are on the ship please tell Rio how cool Puck is. Marika tried so hard to convince him to be Puck for Halloween last year, but he wasn't going to do it (she so wanted to be Tatianna--but they always insist on coordinating for Halloween). In all fairness he has never seen Midsummer performed. We thought he would get to see the local high school production this spring (hopefully better than Laura's:rotfl: ) but it is on May 11-12. Hmm--I think we may have another engagement:rolleyes1 Can anyone recomend a good movie version?

"A social component":lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Sounds so simple and small. How do you feel about kids with huge, overwhelming (for their moms) social calanders?:rotfl2: Let's see, this week has been 2 overnight visitors, two day visitors, most of a day playing with the nieghbor kids, 2 karate calsses and a belt test tomrrow, 4 dance classes, gymanstics class, a workshop at Shaker Village, a book chat at the library and a workshop at the Planetarium. Pretty typical week for my two kids.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have met before....you guys cruise so much! Plus you are DVC members, so perhaps you went on last year's member's cruise or the year before. Those are FUN!

That's what soccer, karate, and other after school activites are for!

I would homeshool, but truthfully couldn't stand being around m kids 24/7!
I need my break from them!!!:rotfl: (and I'm sure they need a break from me!)

That sounds like my kind of "social component"!! The problem is, well one of them anyway, my oldest son is basically non-verbal. He doesn't have spontaneous speech, he only parrots or repeats. Throw in my other autistic son and my two very bright girls and every outing is an adventure!!

Thanx for everyone's kind words. I will be researching all weekend.

I love my kids dearly, but we need breaks from each other also (they do do more activites than they would of they were in school partly just so we all get time apart). Then of course there is the club/lab on the ship and SUMMER CAMP (just got Rio's confirmation for Ma Te Na today).
