my packing list is simple...as i buy new clothes i put them into my suitcase! :rotfl2: actually, to save on the poundage we are packing in all duffles this time...my husband gets these really nice big ones that are just piling up in our closet and we hate having the suitcases in the room (they don't fit underthe bed) but the duffles will!!! these duffles at most weigh 2 pounds so much more room for clothes!!! i feel we might look "cheap" with our duffles but we will have plenty of clothes! :goodvibes

i already have 2 of them almost full with my clothes and my daughters and the rest of my clothes from disney shopping.com have not gotten here yet! they had a good sale over the weekend and i saved over $50 with their promos....i got 4 matching outfits with shirt, shorts, pants, hoodie that are eeyore, mickey, tink and cheshire cat...i figure i can mix and match for whatever weather we have!

does anyone have a map with our route plotted on it to the med? if you do, could you email me a copy?

I found this article online at allearsnet.com....thought I'd pass it along....looks like there are even a few more fun surprised in store for our trip! :)

Disney Cruise Line Enhances a Classic

Applause, Applause!

‘Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic’

And New Sail-Away Party ‘Wow’ Guests

On Disney Magic and Disney Wonder

CELEBRATION, Fla. -- Snow falls in Walt Disney Theatre. Lasers generate sparkling pixie-dust trails. New Disney character performers take a bow. And the deck-party fun ramps up several notches. It’s part of a flurry of onboard fun that will debut this spring on both Disney Cruise Line ships.

One of the most popular, long-running shows on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, “Disney Dreams,” will display new dazzle as “Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic” with elaborately enhanced special effects, animation and new scenic elements. As a bonus, two beloved character cast members – Timon and Pumbaa of Disney’s classic film “The Lion King” – make their first-ever appearance on a Disney Cruise Line ship. The revitalized show will debut on the Disney Wonder March 21, 2007, and will be unveiled on the Disney Magic just in time for the ship’s inaugural season in the Mediterranean this May.

At the opulent Walt Disney Theatre, the enhanced “Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic,” tells the story of a young girl who learns about the power of dreams. New laser effects allow Tinkerbell to “sprinkle” the theater with sparkling pixie-dust trails, and fresh animated video footage brings the show to life like never before. During a scene from the classic film “Beauty and the Beast,” “snow” literally falls upon the audience. When Cinderella takes the stage, special pyrotechnic effects add glitter to her sartorial transformation from rags to ball gown. And Timon and Pumbaa appear for a musical medley of “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” and “Hakuna Matata” from “The Lion King.”

Additional musical numbers during the 55-minute performance include: “You Can Fly!” “A Whole New World,” “Prince Ali,” “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” “So This Is Love,” “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea” and “Beauty and the Beast.” (Featured on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder)

“We’re committed to refreshing onboard entertainment and adding new theatrical surprises for our guests,” says Jim Urry, director of entertainment for Disney Cruise Line. “Fans of our original ‘Disney Dreams’ show will be blown away by the enhancements.”

Also beginning this summer, guests on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will find a greatly enhanced Sail-Away Party, featuring new music, interactive dances and appearances by the world-famous Disney characters on the upper decks. Taking full advantage of the Ariel Vision jumbo screens recently added to both ships, new visual elements are planned for the show and guests attending the party may find themselves dancing on the “big screen.” The party culminates with the sounding of the signature Disney Cruise Line “When You Wish Upon a Star” horn, signaling the official start of the ultimate cruise vacation.

Yeah or post the link on here so we can all see (it might have been posted once before but i couldn't possibly try to find it....maybe those maps are somethign that would be fun to add to page 143).

I got a map and just drew some straight lines from port to port basically but I highly doubt it resembles our actual course! hehehe :thumbsup2

Goodmorning all,

OK, the name of the medicine for motion sickness that I promised about 3 months ago is marezine for motion sickness (cyclizine hydrochloride - antiemetic) 50 mg.

Re: clothes: As I've posted before we are pretty casual Californian folks out here and I live in white canvas original Keds. Although I do have a new pair of black Keds. We also wear crocs and surf shoes everywhere around here. We get a lot of Europeans (from all over Europe) visiting in our area and they are never very dressed up, they look very much like us. Mostly just different brands of tennis shoes (same as sneakers) Because so much of the Southern European weather is much like ours out here, they have many of our stores there as we have several of theirs. Like anywhere you can see the difference between the very rich vs. the average folks, but they aren't any different. The other funny thing out here is that we wear Disney everywhere too. It is our pride of Orange County! When we visit Orlando we feel very much at home. Jonathan could easily wear Disney ties to work - of course we don't have regular jobs either. So, we'll be wearing Tommy Bahamaish, Disney, crocs and Keds. Since the weather will be low to mid 70's (after leaving Florida) Jonathan will wear shorts everywhere he is allowed, I go with linen, cotton khaki type (almost like scrubs), but mostly sportswear.

And yes, we have multiple packing lists and have begun the packing procedure so that we can figure out what we forgot before we leave. We started a cruise bag last year of surprise goodies for Zoe and books and important stuff to not forget - we're up to two bags - full!!! I think I have too much already.

Padalyn: I'm a big dork. I went to CA yesterday and realized I didn't have my list. Don't worry I'm going back on Friday!

Speaking of Orange County, CA: I'd like to point something out to everyone around the country... Have any of you seen the Bravo show, "The real housewives of Orange County?" I'm horrified by this show. I've lived here almost my entire life and I don't know anyone like these people. While, yes, there is a small percentage of people who look like them or act like them, I feel obligated to apologize for this show. The OC show that just ended was slightly more like some small areas of Newport Beach, but :scared1: I'm so embarrassed. We're Disney, not those people.

Hey Gydell should be back soon.

The name of the medication is actually Meclizine sold over the counter as Bonine. It is a strong antihystamine - so be ready to sleep!! I find the wrist bands (not the stretchy kind but the velcro ones) work for my airsickness. They are available online at this web link:

not to worry - they are all rack pins if you dont' get them I may be able to find them in NYC or WDW!

thanks...thjat one does work...any others???

also, is anyone worried they will not get their passport on time???

"It is a strong antihystamine - so be ready to sleep"

This is a very good point - what works for one person doesn't work for another. My sister goes right to sleep with most drugs, Jonathan didn't feel any sleepiness with this one at all. He did everything like normal, but that doesn't mean it will be a miracle drug for others. But he tried the stretch wrist bands and they didn't work for him at all, but the electronic one did work :confused3 :confused3 I'm so grateful that I don't get motion sickness! Has anyone tried the patches, we heard those make people sleepy, but I'm wondering if that is true for everyone? Cayla, have you tried those? Also, I put my list in my Disney bag - I'll be on a mission to find those pins!!!!!!

Okay, now I'm worried! I have terrible motion sickness. Can't read more than a sentence in a car without feeling queasy. I was planning on getting the scopalamine patch before I go and I will also get some meclizine, but am I going to have to rely on these the whole cruise? Will I get used to it? I was hoping after a couple of days it wouldn't be an issue. I can't stand the thought of going for TWO WEEKS feeling like :crazy2: . This would be great for my weight issues, however! pooh: :rotfl:

I don't think the scopalamine patch makes you sleepy, btw, but I may be wrong. I do know it will make your mouth very dry, however. :drinking: (okay, I need to back off the smilies a bit...but they are so fun! :goodvibes) :rolleyes1

Anyway, seriously, how bad is the seasickness on these cruises??

Hey Kelly,

Yes I watch the real housewives on and off....it's kinda like a train wreck...you know you shouldn't be just standing there looking at it and yet you can't look away!:rotfl2: I don't think you need to apologize since I'm not sure anyone thinks those women are a realistic representation of anyone! :lmao: ....just another example of the delusion that money and privilege is in some way the equivalent to talent or fame! The show clearly has some serious issues around class and race and gender! ;)

Hello all! I've been out of touch for a few days and just catching up. I see that some of you are from Indiana. I graduated High School in Delphi and went to Indiana State in Terre Haute. :cool2:

It was 85 degrees here in Virginia today and I have serious spring fever! Anyone like to Golf? :sunny:

I got "carded" at a liquor store in Delphi, IN buying two six packs of malt duck. That was some time after I spent a week in Terra Haute for Boys State. Good to have more Hoosier connections on the cruise.

My DW is from VA (Northern, near D.C.). She loves to talk to other people from Virginia.

We have multiple packing lists going - clothes, room supplies, Disney supplies (sail-away, theme nights), box(es) we may send on ahead to the ship. Remember to put packing tape in your boxes that you ship to the port as you can retape them in BCN and use them as pieces of checked luggage for the trip back (just don't run over your size/wgt restrictions).

I know, I say I'm not going to watch and then I can't believe what I'm seeing and that I can't believe that they think they represent us:headache:

I don't know I think it varies. I get motion sickness, too, sometimes. LIke I can't ride more than two thrill rides in the same hour really without wanting to heave  . I get sick in cars, sometimes, too (although rarely on planes) and I went on cruise on a much small boat when I was in college and I was sick as a dog. I have to say, however, that on the DCL boats Ive never felt a thing...at least not illness-wise....I can sometimes feel the boat moving but I never get queasy. On every cruise I've gone on I see folks with the armbands and the little dots behind their ears and wearing lots of copper jewelry and all the other remedies that people use....and they all still seem to be having a lovely time....so I do think most people acclamate and are able to enjoy themselves despite a tendency towards motion sickness.

We usually pack an empty duffel to use on the way home with all our new "stuff". Maybe I'll go ahead and use one on the way over. Thanks for the great idea!

I'm taking DD Jamie on the Disney Wonder for her 15th birthday (and for Easter) on April 5th! I'll file a report on the "new" stuff after I return. Can't wait to see changes to the shows!

I am the queen of motion sickness, but for some reason I have done pretty darn well on DCL. Don't know if it is the stabilizers or just because I have cruised so much.

Bonine does not make me sleepy if I take only 1/2 of the pill.
I have done the patches, however, they make me very thirsty. I always have to be chewing gum or drinking water or my mouth is really dry.

I find that the water bothers me most the first night right after sailaway when we are headed down the coast, so I take 1/2 bonine while eating lunch on the ship after we board and that seems to do the trick. Haven't been sick at all.

That's where we are heading after the cruise.

Hi mom_rules

Limburg is round 100 kilometers (65 miles) south of Marburg and it is the same distance to Franfurt Airport. Driving time from airport to Marburg 1,5-2 hours.

Marburg and Limburg are on the same smal river, the Lahn.

It's getting dark now here on the other side of the ocean.

so have a nice evening
