You forgot Chris Daughtry--even though its only the beginning. He is a perfect example of the system not working. All these power voters put Taylor through, but yet Chris is kicking his butt in sales. The power voters cannot backup with the sales. I think he will become as big as Kelly :) and Carrie :scared: :crazy2:

I'll buy that.....I think there are definitely some good examples of the Idol rejects cashing in......Tamyra in season one got a great run as a TV actress...Clay Aiken became somewhat of a force of nature...Dianna DeGarmo (sp?) did a stint on Broadway...Kelly Pickler is probably gonna kick Taylor's butt, too....and, of course, who could forget Jennifer Hudson?

OK...I promise....no more idol posts....all these poor folks are here to read about this cruise and we're gabbin' about mediocre reality TV!!

:tigger:

I've been reading posts and keeping track of who said they are going to do Gibraltar on their own. I looks like we might 27 people.

meanmommmajean - 8
CAcruisn - 4
eller ? - 5
KarenNY - 2
milestogo - 3
litteownenmommy ? - 4
ssnyder - 1

Anyone else?

OK, Count us in too!

Kathy

Refresh my memory...does Gibraltar take Euros as well as pounds? I'm ordering Euros through BOA on Friday. I would prefer to not bother with Gibraltar pounds.

Is you listing on the cruise list still correct - Mary and Karen?

Ken

Yes, me and my mom.

Nala80 - where are you from in Georgia? We're in the Atlanta area.

I live in Central Georgia, near Macon.

I really do need to start doing my research. But when the choice comes to research the cruise or start packing, I think packing wins!

If its on Bravo I watch it! Sorry don't know much about AI..:confused3
Can we still be friends even if I have no idea who anyone is on American Idol?;)

Don't knock Taylor, I liked him!!! :cheer2:

Not knocking him at all, just stating the facts :)
Ok I will get back to cruise topics too. Erik, we'll save it for the cruise in a few days! (almost in the single digits for me!) Wooo hooo!

OF COURSE!! I live for Bravo shows!! Project Runway? Top Chef? Kathy Griffin on the D-List? I'm very wrapped up in Shear Genius now, too!!

I haven't done my research yet, but I've heard that taxis and buses line up near the port for people to do the "Rock Tour". Supposedly the same one the DCL does but charges triple the price.
Yes my research does show that the taxi's do this. I don't want to do the taxi tour though. I just want a taxi to take me to the base of the cable car. I wonder if they will be reluctant to do that if they think they can get more people to do their tour.

This is their web site:
http://www.gibtaxi.com/

I have emailed the taxi company to see what they charge just to take me to the cable cars, but haven't got any response back yet.

For the rest, I have seen that the combination ticket that I am interested in (one-way cable car, cave, apes, and siege tunnels) is $13 according to this link:
http://www.frommers.com/destinations/gibraltar/3590010029.html.

Disney is charging $42 for the "Explore the rock on your own" excursion which is basically the combination ticket plus the shuttle to and from the cable cars.

YIKES pages and pages while we broke for dinner and games. I am blaiming you AI folks for the half hour I just lost cathcing up!

Newcommers--WELCOME. Seems I have typed that a lot lately, but I am happy ot have you all along for hte ride.

Grey Hair--Deanna I have stared at your beautiful grey photo a number of times and been tempted to let mine go as yours is so pretty. But, I really want to keep the colour at leasr until I am 40 (thought Eik htanks for comparing us to a lovely actress--I think we'll both marry you and share:love: ) Mine will be freshly coloured May 10 (Dave does it for me and he is awesome). In the meantine the roots are looknig terrible, but Oh well. How did you cope with the half and half look as it grew out?

Gibralatr--The teacher in me is screaming out "It's a penninusala, not an island!" Okay, sorry for that instructional moment. We have 13 doing the rock on our own. I'm sure we will see you all up there (can't commit to go together as I think we are supposed to be avoiding crowds).

I knew I was forgetting something on that last post. The Passporter says Gibraltar will accept Euros but tends to give a lousy exchange rate. We have gotten a smilar report from a friend.

OF COURSE!! I live for Bravo shows!! Project Runway? Top Chef? Kathy Griffin on the D-List? I'm very wrapped up in Shear Genius now, too!!

Erik

Yea!! I even had my husband watching the last season of Project Runway:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Ken - as far as I know everything is still the same with us - same room number and same dining. Is there something else we should know about?

I've been very busy trying to schedule everything around here so I can have the animals taken care of for my first cruise and a few days at WDW. Not to mention getting the outside of the house in shape so I don't have to go crazy when I get back home at the end of May. I am leaving a week from Friday - one day at the Swan and then onto the Wonder for 4 nts and back to SSR for 2 days and then over to the Magic with the rest of you.

Karen has been working a lot so I know she has been very busy too. She too is cruising before this one but on a non-Disney cruise with her dd. We meet up at SSR when I get there.

Looking forward to this relaxing trip and have the suitcases out so I'm in trouble with the dog already!

WOW Great research!:thumbsup2
I had been thinking about taking the tour on our own, and actually would love to join the group thats going.

Thats 2 for Elderfam!:yay:

Ok Kids, if we decide to do a tour of Gibralter with ya all or maybe the Pyramids, what is DCL's shore excursion concelatiopn policy, something tells me it is 48 or 24 hours.

Late to the concert......Hula hula...... Hula girl at heart KEWL!!!

Welcome aboard you new cruisers.....

Ken - as far as I know everything is still the same with us - same room number and same dining. Is there something else we should know about?

My question was directed to Nala80 who said she had changed her mind several times about the cruise. I just wanted to make sure she was still traveling with the same person because I had already made her name badges.

Sorry for the confusion.
Ken

Earlier on the thread someone said it was 48 hours prior to embarkation. The DCL website just says excursions can be cancelled at any time online. This is almost exactly what it says--I bookmarked the page when I had booked an excursion as insurance should I have an issue cancelling, but now I cannot load it because DCL's site is too busy.

OK, you'll need to keep this a SECRET! Please don't let DCL know!

Somebody made a mistake - WE GOT OUR DOCS -for both cruises.

I know, I know DCL says there not being sent yet. But they sure do look just like the docs we've gotten on other cruises 3-4 weeks out. So, we're assuming they're the real thing. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Now, for any of you that are having real trouble finding grass skirts, we have several party stores nearby that have them. I still need to buy one (can't let Gordy be the only member of the frat and I need something to go with the B2B shirt) and can get others if you want.

PM me by Friday night if you need a grass skirt, we'll be shopping on Saturday. We'll then bring them to the sailaway party.

From what I understand, it is 48 hours prior to the excursion. They PREFER that you do it prior to sailing, but you can do it onboard.

Okay. I got htrough onto DCLs website. Here is hte direct quote:

You may cancel your excursion at any time from the Confirmation Page or under the Shore Excursions tab of the My Cruise Plans Page.

Tehcnically it does say "AT ANY TIME" so according to their site, as long as you log on from the ship, you can cancel once on board. Seems someone else on this thread treid to cancel onboard and was told 48 hours prior to sail was the policy:confused3 Of course, we all know how well trained and on the same page the DCL CMs always are:rotfl2:

Thanks for the info, Bummer no doc's here yet, It might be a DVC thing

Concert 1/2 time....
