May 11th 2008 ~ Any Double Dippers Out There?

Last time I just laminated them and used putty, but alas no more. So this time I think I'll just laminate them and IF I CAN FREAKIN' FIND IT I'll use the magnetic tape. Apparently there's some sort of magnetic supply void in Austin...

There's a plethora of magnetic tape that can be purchased online so I'll be going that route - it's the laminating that's causing me a problem! It seems that the mighty Citigroup has the power to laminate but DH is unwilling to take my pretty printed signs in and do the deed!!! Apparently, as he's the new head of research (used to be sales) he can't be seen to be taking advantage of their laminator!!! :confused3  He's got two weeks in which to get his courage up - that's all I'm saying... ;) :rolleyes1

 :cool1: :dance3: Doin' the Happy Disney Dance :dance3: :cool1:
Got our cruise stuff in the mail yesterday too!! Granted - I have this horrible head cold and have been too sick to actually open it and look through it (DH did though to make sure everything was in order) but I'm feeling a wee bit better this morning so I thought I'd post my virtual dance!

I'd better shake this cold and SOON! I get to observe in the OR tomorrow!! (yup- scrubbing in to watch surgery up close and personal!!!). I LOVE my new job!!! I can pretend I'm on Gray's Anatomy!! My boss is pregnant and my coworker (who started with me 2.5 wks ago) is deathly afraid of seeing 'too much' and getting sick in the OR. Not me - the bloodier the better (it's the nurse in me). :lmao:

Tarabra -- congrats on the good news re: sale. Once I did the math in my head on your commission I almost choked. I mean, I love DCL, but I couldn't have given that up

Yea, it is a nice chunk of change, but probably not nearly as much as you calculated. (I would probably cancel in that case too:lmao:) A lot of times the comm. is 3% of 100k, 2% of the rest, or 2.5% on the buyers side. Then I have to give 30% to my broker. So, yes, I will def. not complain but it may not be quite as much as you initial calculated. Darn!:)

Yay for your DH's promotion! But boooooo for being such a stickler :rotfl: I have to take mine to Office Max or Office Depot to have it laminated, which is dangerous b/c office supplies make me all quivery inside and I start wanting to buy pens and day planners in mass quantities. I don't know why.

DH is teasing me for my Type A mentality b/c I'm also laminating little cards to go into our lanyards that show our trip insurance information/emergency numbers. Of course, what he doesn't know is that he's the cause -- I realized that if I were bitten by a ravenously poisonous bahamian bug and needed to be airlifted before my head imploded, DH would be like..."errr, I dunno, we have trip insurance somewhere that's supposed to arrange this..uh, right?" (despite having been shown 25,000 times where I've put the information.) In an emergency, I can rattle off DH's social and blood type. It would be a miracle if he could spell my middle name (but then, I guess anyone can make a mess of three whole letters). But he has been known to recognize a car in the dark by just its headlights. Go figure.

Oh no, I hope you get better soon! Though if you have to have a cold, better it be now than later, right? Now we have to do the keep-sickness-away good luck dance: No sickness, happy tummies, big bucks, no whammies! ;)

I'd say congrats on you getting to go into surgery, but I have mixed feelings about that :rotfl: :crazy2: You so don't want me around in an emergency. :faint: Glad there are people like you that can handle it...where would we be with a bunch of fainting doctors and nurses? So, as weird as this is going to sound, have fun in surgery!!

Well for your sake I wish you were on the receiving end of a full 6%, but yay nonetheless! Tell your DH that all of us said you have to celebrate by buying yourself something fun on your trip...b/c, you know, we're very important people and we know what we're talking about. :thumbsup2

OK first.... :lmao: ... my DH is the SAME way! And  what a FANTASTIC idea! Although we don't have trip insurance... we're cruising on DVC points and my husband won't spend an extra dime on anything!!! Good thing I have my hidden cash stash for this trip (for the parks afterward). With that being said... if I were bitten by a ravenously poisonous bahamian bug and needed to be airlifted before my head imploded, my DH would first ask "well how much is that going to cost?" before agreeing to save my life!

I bought my own laminating machine at Walmart for $30 and the laminating sheets at Staples. I made luggage tags with Disney paint chips from Home Depot, and I'll laminate our door magnet signs if DH ever makes them. :lmao:

It comes in handy for us in other ways as well. We homeschool the girls and I was getting so tired of printing numerous copies of "prime number" lists, among other things. Now I can just laminate those things, punch holes in them, and place them in the girls' folders for safe keeping. :)

:cool1: For commissions

 For colds

:rotfl2: At goofy husbands!

Wow, you ARE dedicated! I think I'd be running around my house seeing what I could laminate :rotfl:

After 12 months of waiting for this trip to arrive, why does it feel like these last weeks are going slowest of all? I can't believe it's only wednesday :bored:

Ha! That's why I booked in Feb. or was it early March?? I didn't have quite so long to wait. We used to book onboard all the time, and that was killer having to wait a year.

Yippee out of state buyer called and said she's hopping a plane this weekend, so maybe we can REALLY get this going before I leave!! Yes, I will def. make DH let me buy something!!!

Oh my goodness :scared1: For just some strange reason tonight I took my wedding ring off and started examining it. Pushed on one of the little side stones and the darn thing WOBBLED. YIKES! I am SO lucky -- can you imagine what might have happened if I tried to go snorkeling, slapping my arms around in the ocean, with that stone loose? It is just a small side stone, but sentimentally speaking I would have plotzed!

Now I think I get why I read those threads about people buying the fake stuff for traveling! Sheesh!

EEK!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I just had to go and check my ring...

Okay I'm not so happy today. I still haven't received my docs  but fine I can get over that for now.

BUT to top that off I go to try on a cute little dress that I had planned on wearing one night to dinner, nothing fancy just a tropical print dress I bought years ago - and well you guessed it - it DOESN'T FIT :sad2:  :furious: HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN??? :confused3 (the sad thing is I KNOW how it happens - not exercising like I should, eating more than I should, having one too many glasses of wine or too many margaritas.....) :sad2: okay just had to have my own little pity party here. I'll get over it.

Of course it's not your fault -- it's the cleaner's fault! Or the washing machine...you know how hard/soft water can just mess up fabric! And those darn dryers just run too hot!

Just don't blame the wine..it's healthy for you. And tequila...why, it's better than an antidepressant any day of the week! Everyone knows stress makes a person bloat, so you probably actually need MORE margaritas!

:rolleyes1

Do I make a good gal pal or what?

I really hope you get your docs soon. It doesn't make much sense that you haven't, unless it has something to do with you being on the land/sea package. Have you tried calling Disney or your TA? Sending you good mail juju.

awwww thank you  I knew I liked you!! Your logic about the wine and tequila sounds like mine, so I guess I'm not crazy. :rolleyes1

My TA told me the other day she'd let me know when she had my docs - so maybe I'll give her a call since everybody else is getting theirs....

Yea, I hear ya on that one. I put on one of my favorite summer shirts pre-2ndpregnancy, and my big ole gut was hanging out. My stomach is still so bizarre, some days it will be on the verge of being flat, the next it's totally puffed out again. I need to keep plugging away on the situps and crunches. It's like I weigh the same every day, but my stomach just goes in and out. Grrrr.. I've been drinking the dandelion tea, water and unsweetened cranberry juice that Jillian from Biggest loser says to drink to lose 5 lbs. of water weight in a week. The first time I drank it I really did lose 4 lbs. and it stayed off too. I also need to cut back on my salt consumption. I'm also breastfeeding so the water retention is crazy. The big ****s also drive me crazy. Although DH loves it:goodvibes  :sad2: . DS is starting to wean a little bit, but still trying to hold out as long as possible to save on formula. He does drink formula though if needed.

We still have 3 weeks, and the weather is finally getting nice, so I'm trying to walk as much as possible. Whenever I used to cruise before, I would hit the gym 5 times a week, once after spraining my ankle twice in 2 weeks. I had to wear an ankle brace on the cruise so it wouldn't twist again. :guilty: Anyhow, once I got on the ship, I realized, there were many, many women who looked a lot less appealing in a bathing suit than I did, and I shouldn't have gotten all worked up about it beforehand. I have a couple of dresses that I'm bringing w/ empire waists. One I got for my class reunion when Ava was 8 months old and the other I just got. The other cruise dresses I've worn will just have to stay in the back of the closet for now!! One of my favorite khaki skirts fits again as well as a denim skirt. I'm very happy for that. BUT I haven't tried any shorts on yet. I was in maternity shorts all last summer.

Gotta head out. I think we're hitting the zoo again. It's a gorgeous day and I can get some walking in.

Sorry about your cruise docs, Yvonne - hope they arrive soon!!!

I know how that goes and it totally sucks!!! I knew I'd put on a little weight after Christmas and New Year but I was completely unprepared for the fact that NONE of my previous vacation clothes from last year would fit!!! I was so mad with myself prior to going to Barbados - especially as I had to buy some horrid emergency clothes!!! I've been pretty good since returning - will be weighing-in tomorrow morning for the moment of truth... ;)

Sounds intriguing, Tara! Off to Google that... :thumbsup2

Is this it?
60oz. distilled water
1 tablespoon sugar free cranberry juice
1 dandelion root tea bag
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Mix together - and make sure you drink it ALL every day - do this every day for 7 days to see the results...

WAVING!!! That's me!! LOL

When we had originally thought we'd have until October to prepare for the cruise, I was really motivated to lose the weight and was doing great. Then DD decided she didn't want to wait and wanted to ask MAW to send us on this particular cruise since it'll be her birthday. All my motivation went out the window, knowing I'd not be able to lose much before we leave. So, I'm just as fluffy as I was before!! I'll look like a big ole beach ball in my bathing suit (and it just might be my maternity suit!!!). I even have a huge, nasty looking bruise on my leg that'll complete the look!! :rotfl2: I don't care, though! I'm not going on this cruise to please anybody else, I'm going on it to celebrate my daughter and our family getting through this last year and I'm going to relax and enjoy myself, fat and all. :goodvibes

Yep, come sit next to me sister, you'll look like a rock stah'!! :rotfl: Personally, whenever I start getting anxious about putting on a bathing suit (which I never..EVER..do in real life) on the cruise, I think "yeah, you know I'll never see any of these people again, don't know anyone, so...errrr..why do I care? It's not like my husband doesn't already have up close and personal knowledge of my legs o' cottage cheese and my pelican-waddle arms!" And to impress my DH, all I have to do is wear a scoop neck. :rolleyes1 There's only so much work I'm willing to do for a vacation....

Says the girl who just drove 20 miles round trip to have her door sign laminated. The store clerk said, "hey, have a nice trip!" And I realized, that's my first "bon voyage"!! YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!"

On that note, I finally found the stupid magnetic tape, so we're good, we're set, we're ready to rumble! Bring it on!

Which reminds me...I know I've only sailed the one time, but for those who are sailing the first time I wanted to pass on a tip that someone on the DIS gave me that I found so useful. Bring a small night lite. Just the tiny ones with the glowing square that aren't much larger than the plug. If you have to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, having one of these plugged into the bathroom socket means you don't have to blind yourself with the bathroom light and then try to stumble back into bed without breaking a toe. It was great :thumbsup2 Hope that helps someone like it did me.
