They are only going to have two seatings on the Panama Canal cruises
6pm and 8:30pm. This is what they did with the Transatlantic crossings amd European cruises this past summer

I thought on the TA they did it because the ship was so empty.:confused3 Our dining room was never near full.

Hmmmm........this reminds me I'll have to try to switch to early dinner. When it was going to be me & Cindy cruisng, we wanted late dinner, but now that Tyler's going instead of her, we have to have early dinner because he can barely stay awake past 7:30, so I doubt he'll change much in that regard in the next few months. Heck, there are times we have to miss his 6:20pm hockey class because he's ready to just go to bed by then. :sad2: He NEVER stays up until 8:30, so we'd never make it with that dinner time. And since we'll be busy doing tons of fun stuff all day, he'll be even more tired than normal, so we definitely have to try to switch to early dinner.

I am definitely in for doing the zipline.:thumbsup2 :woohoo: Several people from the last Mexico cruise thought it was an incredible experience and I vowed to do it next time I was in Puerta Vallarta.
We may also be interested in the Jeep Tour in Aruba. I know there is a group going on their on and not with Disney. Any info would be great.
Bob

I'd love to do it, but I'm leary of leaving Tyler on the ship without me. I suppose if anything happened to me, he'd be fine with Heather, Tom & Bethany (ThreeBritts). He knows them well and is very comfortable with all of them. So I'll probably end up doing the zip line! I'll do it with you Lisa! And of course, anybody else who wants to do it.

It seems like a lot of fun, and I think the views might be beautiful from up there!!!

Hi Lisa - yep it was/is me....I hope to do this in Puerto Vallarta. Join me please! I'd love the company! You can also help me out when/if I start to freak out due to the heights:rotfl:

Ahem...and likewise too...having never done something like this, I'm not sure how I'll react once I actually get there! But I'll still do it...you'll just have to PUSH me off the platform. :lmao:

Hi Bob, me and John are doing the Aruba jeeps also. Just PM V/lillygator and get on the list.....she's organizing it all.

We are definitely NOT doing the zip line, you can do that one with Lisa.

Hi guys! This is absolutely awesome and I hope you can all watch it. Put a huge smile on my face. It's a little long but totally worth it and the cutest acapella 12 days of Christmas I've ever seen/heard....

Now can DCL get me out of the lifeboat?

Thanks for the info....yes all the tubes can be overwhelming.

We live so very close to the Expo Center and lots of my firends are going to the Gem show.

Right now, it is just me and my oldest child cruising together. Daniel is at VA Tech. Well, he came home yesterday and starts back to work at Chick-Fil-A which is in the parking lot of the Expo Center. Tomorrow night he works 4 till close......so if you go into Chick-Fil-A during those hours, say hi to Daniel!!

Weather does not look to good here.......Saturday evening and all day Sunday

What the heck is "Chick-Fil-A" ? says the girl from Silicon Valley :confused3

Anyone planning on doing the zip line/canopy tour? I'm in this, "step out of your box" mode and I REALLY want to do this but DH really isn't thrilled about it and he really shouldn't do it because this past January he had surgery on his scaphoid (a bone in the wrist) to have a screw inserted (we were in an auto accident and he broke it) and he really can't bear big time weight on it. Soooo, I really don't want to do it alone but I thought someone here might be up to do it. I think someone said they were going to do it...Monica, was that you? :confused3

I might just wanna join on this girls wanna have fun zip line tour...chicken yes, up for a bit of adventure yes, willing to be pushed, yes :lmao: :lmao:

Dontchathink we may just need to start a little club of sorts here :rolleyes1

Zippity do-dah girls ???? :cool2: :rotfl2: :woohoo: :yay:

Nan - this made me laugh out loud! Only problem with this is that if Bob is going with us he may not like the name :lmao:

I say the more the merrier.....as long as I get my spot!

Was it Molly that wanted to go horseback riding, or was is Alex?

WOW....it just hit home for me....I made dinner reservations for Christmas day at a restaurant in a local hotel that we always went to with mom. She loved it there....beautiful atmosphere, good food, great prices...I reserved for a party of four. That hit me. Every holiday or occasion we were 9-12 depending on whether my brother and his sons were with us. Now we're only 4. Sandi's leaving coinciding with mom being gone have really changed the dynamics drastically. Mom would always do a cheers saying that we were all together and that's all that matters.

Hi Deb,

I just read an article today about losing a loved one over the holidays. It said that the first time the holidays pass without that person is difficult, but the second time can be even worse. The first year is full of change and turmoil, and the second year, you have more time to think. I can tell you that I personally am feeling the loss of my mom more this year. She passed so close to Christmas (Dec 3) , and we went on that December cruise, that I don't think I had the ability to process it all.

This year is different, and I keep wondering if Holidays will ever be the same . . .

Getting ready for bed after a HS BB game (we won) and then out to eat at a little cafe.

Thanks for all the info on the different nights. It is interesting.

V - I am listening to that book the Green Mile, and am almost halfway through it. It is fascinating, and gripping.

I had to spend about 20 minutes on the phone tonight arguing with a senior citizen about our school levy. He told me we will never pass it, and that I should resign. He then asked me the question I have been waiting for one of these curmudgeons to ask . . . he asked if I got paid to be on the board. When I told him I did, he said I should forfeit my pay before raising his taxes. I told him how much I get paid a year ($1,500) and then told him that every penny of it and then some I donate back to programs for kids in our district.

You would think that would shut him up. It didn't.

Oh well, time to get to bed.

Good night everyone, and welcome to all our new folks!

Deb - did you get your flowers today?

Chik-fil-a is a (mostly I think) southern fast food place....that serves (what else) chicken! It's a Christian run business so they are closed on SUndays.

that was great, thanks!:thumbsup2

What the heck is "Chick-Fil-A" ? says the girl from Silicon Valley :confused3

It is the restaurant (fast food) of the original chicken sandwich. Kind of the McDonalds of chicken sandwiches, but much nicer than McDonalds. They started in the Southeast, and we have them here now too. They are always closed on Sundays so that their employees can spend time with their families. They have great milkshakes and lemonade too, and I must say, they really train their people to be friendly.

Just dropping in quickly....got home from Alvin & the Chipmunks tonight...was a pretty cute and funny movie. I have a seminar tomorrow day and then party tomorrow night and then my hawks play sunday am! phew, tired already!

Lisa (DL5) & Lisa(CM):  and pixiedust: for you and your loved ones.

It is certain that there are only 2 dining times for the PC cruises? My TA told me that the summer ones were done that way due to european labor laws and had nothing to do with what DCL wanted. She thought they would go back to normal schedules once back here. Anyone remember from the last PC cruise what they did? I am surprised there are 2 formals, but I think the one under stars does sound pretty cool.

Zip line...you know I am in for that one! :yay: Bob, my DH may do it as well so you won't be the only guy in the group!

Welcome to everyone just joining!

Have a great weekend everyone!

okay perhaps we need a girl and boy zippity doh da club membership?

Yup, it was Molly, but not Molly's mama. I was going to horn her way in with Tigger's Pal Sis (why can't I ever remember real names, let alone dis names) but she cancelled right? So who oh who am I going to horn her in with now???? Oh her poor father is going to have to ride a horse with her...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: that made me laugh outloud, I'm so mean...

Have a great weekend everyone!

okay it's not a girly club... or is it and are they just trying to find out our secret hand shake?????:confused3 :rotfl:

Bedtime here, long weekend ended with a delightful nutcracker mini performace by Miss Molly and her ballet class. We then had dinner out and then watched a couple of hours of youtube...yawn.

see ya tomorrow.

N

goodnight roomie!

:lmao: :lmao:

Woody, they had the chilled Strawberry soup upon boarding last week....couldn't get the Mango till the first night at Parrot Cay!

HEY...they have a new debarkation breakfast menue. Marilyn's group was the first to try it, and we were the second. You can now get eggs cooked to order....which I think is the reason breakfast took an HOUR. We didn't leave breakfast till 9AM AND there was a line/delay getting off the ship. I don't know if anything else was going on to impact debarkation, but I was used to it being an easy walk off at that time of morning before. :confused3

Our porter said the delays at disembarkation were down to the security officers having to scan every passport. Changed about 5/6 weeks ago and it is causing the problems. Of course the porters are not pleased about it but have no say!!

 That must be hard Deb.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. We can turn it inside out!

I called DCL. Spending 15 days in a lifeboat I must have things organized!

:rotfl2: You're too funny. I'll enjoy sharing the room!!!

You know? I will soon be 60(:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: ), and closer to leaving this life I guess. I do think about it more and more, and one of the things I think I wouldn't want is for my death to impact in to the lives of my children year after year. I want them to be happy, particularly at happy times. I understand loss and bereavement and healing time, but really wouldn't want to be a spectre of sadness year after year at special occasions and I think most parents would want the same. Your mom would just want you to be happy and enjoy your family time.

Having said all that, I think the closer to times like Christmas etc someone close to you dies, then just that fact brings back memories at that time.

Sorry for waffling on. Never very good at explaining things.

Things will change again for you John in due time, you kids will grow up and have families of their own and you'll experience the joy of watching your grandkids at Christmas. You will still miss your mom, maybe even more so then, but you have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.

John and I are on the downside of that joy. The grandkids are teens and moving away, while missing my mom for the first holiday. The only thing for John and I to look forward to in our future is when John retires in a few short years and we can move to Delaware and build our dream home. It will be a lot quietier for us from now on, but we have each other and that's what matters most.

Good morning Marilyn....what are your plans for the weekend? I think I remember reading your posts that it's going to be a busy one for you.

We're getting our Christmas tree today and then we'll decorate it. So it will begin to feel like Christmas.

Then we have to prep for the huge snowstorm that they say is coming our way on Sunday. No going out that day. When it's all over, we'll dig ourselves out....but we have to be prepared to lose electric and must have basic foods in the house since we won't be able to cook if the electric goes out. At least we'll still have heat and a generator.

Lisa G. did you ever get a PM back from Venetia and Bubba? I think about them and wonder how they are doing....especially being the first holiday since losing Venetia's mom too. I hope they're ok.
