Woo Hoo! Just officially booked our first DCL cruise! 3 nights on Jan 10th! Now we will be CC members at the time of booking excursions!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay! I was looking at a couple of the Wonder January cruises.. they have great deals going right now. If only I didn't get hit with the airfare to FL, I'd be thinking about booking too.

We'll have to celebrate our booking anniversary in January

For me the hardest has been not letting it slip to the kids. After Christmas morning it will be so exciting all over again once they learn about the cruise and they get all the goodies I have collected for them to open on their treasure hunt that morning.

They're going to be so excited! I wish we could have surprised the kids with it, but I'm not that good at secrets!

He has the last week of Dec & the 1st week of Jan off, so his last day is 12/21 and he goes back 1/7. Unfortunately, I can't afford to miss any work at all, in fact, I'm trying to get more hours. I'm already losing 2 days of pay for Christmas and 2 for New Year (the Mon & Tues of each week). But I'll also have to take off each Wed those 2 weeks, and then each Thurs & Fri he'll be at his dad's, so his dad will have to figure out those days. Good news is my office manager told me she'll ask the guys if they'll let me work extra hours Thurs & Fri of those 2 weeks to help make up a few lost hours. Depends on work flow though, so I hope they need me.

Oh no.. they won't even pay you for Christmas and New Years?

No change in DFIL. He is still in a coma, still on an artificial heart and still on a ventilator.

Looks like he will be like this till at least the weekend!! The longer he sleeps in this coma, the better I think. His body can heal though the worst of the pain while he is sleeping.

*hugs* I'm sorry you're going through this right now on top of all the other stress. I hope your FIL heals up over the next couple of days and starts recovering.


We're snowed in today. I wish it was just snow, but it's also a ton of icy stuff. Gross! I need to go through the excursion options more fully tonight and then mom and I are going to try to make decisions tomorrow, since she has the day off. We will probably book one of the canopy excursions through DCL if nothing else. I don't want to risk missing the boat, as the last time DH and I did that excursion we were REALLY late getting back to the ship and eternally grateful that we had booked through the ship.

I knew all this from doing research when we first booked, but it's been too long since then, I'm forgetting everything I was planning on CC being my one beach only day, going to Serenity Bay and relaxing with a book and maybe a drink But if this is the only port there is parasailing at then I might do that as well.

Kathe, I'd recommend parasailing at CC. It's GREAT to be up there looking down at the Magic and our favorite island. Also...if there is any reason they have to cancel it (high winds for example), you can still try and add it on in a later port.

Kathe - I would also suggest CC for parasailing. Althought lots of people do it in Mexico there are not inspections or any type of regulation. I just have a problem doing something like this when nobody answers to anyone. Aruba would also be ok.

we'll probably just hang out on CC and maybe rent bikes. We did the eco tour last time and also rented bikes.

Long, hard, very sad day.

Frank (my DFIL) was supposed to be operated on at 10am....well it was delayed (like they warned us) and he went in at 1pm.

Many unexpected complications and he was in for 10 hours...(just got home fromt he hospital. The doctor said he is just about as sick as anyone can be and still be alive. Once they finished with the surgery, his heart would not start up on its own. They had to use a "ballon pump" to keep his heart going. He can not breathe on his on and is on a ventilator. At midnight, let us see him for a minute or two.

We need to take this minute by minute. When we were in with him, all these alarms started going off and they pushed us out of the room. After a few minutes, everything calmed down and they let us back in.

They will keep him in a coma for several days. The only think I asked was "can he feel any pain" and they assured me he was comfortable.

I am off to bed.

Well, I'm going to try and catch up tommorow sometime. Have to get to bed its midnight my time and my stuffiness makes my head feel like its going to explode. I've had this cold...I guess... that I've been trying to fight off but have no chance to get any rest. My DS had an allergic reaction to something and has had hives for two days(he's allergic to a lot of things) he's been on a benidryl RX type med. and its helping. My DS winter program was tonight so of course had to go to that since he always looks so forward to stuff like that ....its so cute. Monday I felt horrible so ended up not going to a Christmas party that I was going to go to. I got some Christmas shopping done today,should of stayed in bed but trying to get everything done. organizing group gift for DD soccer coach. Our first of our out of town guest fly in on Monday and the rest come in the following week. They are all staying at our house and I make Christmas dinner alone as I do every year for the past 10 years...can't think about that though feeling this horrible. I also took my dd to her 5 yr well check yesterday...I forgot and so I scheduled it a couple of months after her bday and she is 90th percentile in height and 70th in weight...she's almost as tall as DS. It's been such a busy week and I've been sick I just want to make it through the week but this weekend is of course bday party and soccer day and DH works all weekend Just trying to get through it healthy before Monday to be ready to entertain for the holidays I'm sooo not ready...next year I WILL get all of my shopping done the day after Thanksgiving...no more procrastinating Well, good night...hopefully I can catch up soon...even look at the excursions...haven't had a chance yet

OH MY GOSH, I'm not sure how you're going to manage all that while sick. Try to take care of yourself through these busy times!

Nope. My employer doesn't offer holiday pay for part-timers. No sick pay, no paid vacation, no holiday pay, no benefits at all. Just a Christmas bonus which I should receive tomorrow!
