Night before.....I'm staying at the Fairfield Inn by the airport (HY too rich for my blood....rather spend it on the cruise). I'm up for a breakfast meet, but be aware - I want to be on the 1st shuttle to the port!! :rotfl:

Are you doing DCL shuttle?

I just received an email from my Aunt in FL....Turkey Day tradition changes this year because it's the first not going to mom's....I'm going to be with my Aunt and cousins in FL....my one cousin is my most favorite person in the world after DH. When I got the email, it hit me that things are going to be different now and that mom is really gone....I finally cried hard....the first time since July 30th.....oh, the holidays are going to be rough this year.

So, I have no idea what we're having for Turkey Day dinner. I know I'll be in FL with my Aunt Jesse, my cousin Mike and his wife Barbara, my favorite cousin Doug and his son Kyle and Kyle's mom and her husband and Kyle's half brother.....Kyle's mom and my cousin decided to have Kyle and not get married....they share time with him like Holly does with Tyler's dad....Cara has since married and had another child. They all live nearby in FL and share holidays and birthdays together for Kyle's sake....and everyone has remained friendly with each other. It works out great!

I'll be sad and miss not being with mom....but I'll be happy and comforted by being with my favorite family people.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Deb, I know how hard this is. I was very anxious about this past saturday. I did not think I would make it throught the day, but having all of my mom's family (and mine) around made it easier to bear.
We don't have any special plans for TG, we are going out for dinner to Black angus with Bubbas DM,DF and DB and DB's roommate. My DNeice and Dnephew will be with their mother. We did this last year, just Bubba and I and this year his family asked if they could join us. The more the merrier.
Tomorrow we are going to Outback for Bubbas DD's birthday dinner. She justed turned 26.princess:

It's only 10 more days until I leave for my halloween cruise.....YIP YIP YIPEE!!! I'm doing the official countdown everyday now.

Today, I'm trying to dig out that suitcase from the 11 night Southern that we did last Sept.....taking those clothes to the cleaners to have them washed and then repack them. YUCK! This is the part of any trip that I don't like....the packing and getting ready part.

:sad2: :upsidedow :sad2:

:woohoo: I am so excited for you. I know how much both you and John need this cruise. You are going to have the bestest bestest time. Have a couple of DOD's for me:goodvibes

since my mom has me thinking of Thanksgiving, what is on everyone's menu this year? Do you all feast on the same things year to year or do you add anything new?

Vanessa,

We will be in Hawaii this year for thanksgiving, so I am hoping to have a nice swordfish.... NO COOKING FOR ME!

Holly,

The only thing I can even say is that I have always believed a mothers intuition is the best. You know your son better than anyone else. You know what is best for him and I don't think you should ever discount that.

Hi Venetia--I did purchase the transfers through DCL - it's all part of the experience! That way all I have to worry about is having a friend come and pick me up at the airport when I fly back (no parking fees).

Deb--only 17 more days until you meet ME!!! (I know - it'll be a landmark day in your book :lmao: :rotfl: )

RE: Thanksgiving...nothing special planned. My buddy Will & I are going to hang out...maybe go see a movie.

So did we. And I too plan on being on the first bus out.:thumbsup2 and at the front of the bus. I want to be first off too.:rotfl2:

Things just don't change! My DGS can't touch a girl now because they have cooties! Brings back memories.

wow, how awesome. What island are you going to? We so hope to go to Hawaii in 2010 - our 10 year wedding anniversary. Our problem is knowing which island we'll like best, which is why we wanted to cruise their first.

wow, I am glad today is almost over, chicken in the oven and peas and onions frying up now. Some left over pasta salad and voila! Dinner!

gosh, so much sports tonight.
I can't really get into Dancing with the Stars this season. Not exciting to me for some reason.

0-0 Indians game...and John is in the hot tub .....I bet he wishes Santa would bring him an outdoor tv.

Can you adopt me please? I could be an honorary something!!:lmao:

Certainly! All are welcome. :yay: :woohoo: I can't even count how many we have "adopted" over the years. I just have this "thing" that no one can be alone on Thanksgiving (I was alone the Thanksgiving that I was 16), so we drag home whomever we know that is without family in the area for the day. Lots of :grouphug: for everyone.

We did Hawaii in 2000. It was my mom & dad, my family of four, my sister & her 2 boys. What a great family vaca. It was the last time we travelled with my dad. Such sweet memories. We flew on Tday, but we had a hard time figuring dinner that day, we didn't make plans. We ended up splitting up and my family of four got turkey dinner at a hotel, the rest of the gang had mexican I think. The rest of the trip we all ate together and had the best food. I'll try to dig up a picture.

V, we stayed on Maui on that trip, but we also have stayed on Kauai, all the islands are great you really can't go wrong.

oops I'm wrong we went to Italy the next year 2001, was that our last family trip??? hmmmm I'm getting old and can't remember.

Looks like there'll be a few of us sprinting towards the bus :yay: (I better start my training now;) )
I'm staying at POR but booked the room on my own, so will take the ME bus back to the airport so I can take the first DCL bus, no way I'm waiting until noon at the resort for my transfer :hyper:

V....here are my thoughts on Hawaii:

I have spent lots of time on Oahu (since my sister lives there) and I love the area around Hale Iwa, far away from Waikiki! It is a great island with so much to do. I have also been to Kauai a few times and love it there...much quieter island with lots of hiking, canoeing, and such to do. We went there for our honeymoon in 95 and realized there wasn't really a great night life, but that was ok because we were on some crazy hike every day so staying out late wasn't in our agenda. I have heard great things about Maui but I have never been. I kind of see it as a combo between Oahu and Kauai. By 2010 the interisland ferries should be up and running if the politics around them settles down and that would be a great way to see a few of the islands on one trip. Even so, airfare between the islands is usually reasonable so you can split a trip between 2 islands if you want. I know there is lots of time before you are thinking of going.....so hopefully DCL will be there by then!

the girls are watching Peter Pan, well Samantha is, Haley keeps coming in to watch the game.
