I wish you guys could see me now.. Olivia is falling asleep on my legs. Her head is on my feet, and her feet are agains my hips. She's such a mommy's girl!

thta sounds like Haley most nights - she just has to be on me in some fashion. I figure this won't last long, she will soon be not wanting to be around her parents.

Amy, nice to see you around tonight, where is John seating at the stadium? I assume he is wearing his Tribe Time shirt.

you know, I really like the DIS....I belong to a baby board...since first beginning trying to conceive which was in like 2000 - great group of gals and many are members here as well. But I really have found such fantastic people ....sometimes I truly can't believe what friendships I have formed. I thank you all for listening to be ramble, vent, and all the other V'ism's I am sure I have. I have a feeling this is going to truly be the cruise of a lifetime!

I so agree....I'm on two other threads for my other two cruises....people are nice just not like this group.....we are special and this cruise will be the once in a lifetime to remember coz we're all in it together.

Yeah, sometimes I have to tell myself "enjoy this while it lasts!!"

Deb - trying not to be nosey - but how are your legs doing and how are you feeling? How is Angel around you - I am sure she wants to jump all over you!

We don't set him a place any more but we do take time to toast and remember both he and my mother at every holiday. I think of it as a way to not only remember them but to share my memories of them with my own grandchildren.

My Grandfather was the first love of my life and continues to hold a very special place in my heart. I grew up with my Grandparents from 6 weeks old until the age of about 7-8. When I was younger I always asked what he wanted for Christmas, and he was a peanut lover, so when Grandma and I went out, I desperately had her buy one of those Planters nut gift packs they had at the holidays. Whether he ate it or not, he had me convinced he loved it. To this day there is always a Planters gift pack wrapped under the tree for my Grandaddy.

These are both very comforting and touching stories and I can see I will start some new traditions to honor mom too. Thank you guys, it helps.

Of all the islands, I love the Big Island best, especially the Kona side. When Samantha was little, we used to go to the Kona Village which sadly has drastically changed since we went there. It is now so expensive ($500 per night minimum for two) that I wouldn't even consider going back. When we went 15 years ago, it was $200 per night for the 3 of us in our favorite room SS (Sand Samoan 8).

The Kona Village used to be this wonderful barefoot resort with a tiny airport. All your food was included. No phones, no tv's but a hammock for two outside your Hale. If you didn't want to be disturbed, you put your Kona coconut outside your door. Washers and dryers were just outside where you could just throw your clothes in and wash so you didn't have to bring much. Best fruit cold soup you ever tasted. You could sit at the sunken bar for a drink, play shuffle board or explore the petroglyphs. There were lots of programs for the kids, tennis, swimming with the manta rays or sailing for the adults or just laying either in the sun or under a shady hut. Sigh....... Still available but a MUCH higher price.

We have friends on Oahu and Maui. Whatever island you choose, you can't go wrong. There are so many fun things to do and see.

I have cruised the islands on NCL (not recommended) but would consider Celebrity of if DCL decides to go to Hawaii.

Noel: My parents went there for their first trip on there 25 anniversary and then back many times since. I have to chuckle, we keep finding things in common between us...we may have some other cosmic connection, huh? I've always heard stories of Kona from my mom (and dad when he was here) they loved it. Your story made me think and visualize what they found so appealing thanks for sharing in your way of much info, it gave me a great picture in my mind.

you know I was alone on my senior year Thanksgiving....I had just turned 17 and I was working at Checkers. I loved the people I worked with and my mom wanted to go to the mountains but I had already committed to my schedule and $$ was important, I had car insurance and college upcoming. She ended up taking Amber and my Uncle - her brother up to the Pigeon Forge area. She had no qualms about leaving me - I was pretty responsible, we lived in a 2 bedroom apartment and I worked the whole holiday weekend. There were several other high school students who were my friends that worked there and they, along with a few others all brought Thanksgiving dinner to me at our apartment. One girl even brought flowers. It was the most memorable Thanksgiving for me.

Sometimes, better times can be had with friends than with family! Glad it turned out so great and memorable!

Holidays are for having a good time, so we learned years ago not to do it with family! I do have a brother(he feels the same as I do) that I would like to spend the holidays with but it never seems to work out.

Deb - trying not to be nosey - but how are your legs doing and how are you feeling? How is Angel around you - I am sure she wants to jump all over you!

V...you're welcome to ask, I don't consider it being nosey....just friendly! My legs are so much better....the edema is down, the left leg is completely gone and the right leg only has 1/2 the size that it started at left to go. I'm feeling great with my new diet that works. I'm much more mobile again.

Angel is being trained and listening for a change. She's wearing a collar that lets her out the doggy door without letting the cat out. No accidents in the house anymore. She also has a shock collar to use when necessary and we've only had to put it on her twice and use it. Now we put it on her and she behaves and we don't use it. She has learned to stop jumping and she has learned to listen. Sandi and the boys did a lot of work with her and it shows.

I wear fleece pants around the house without exposing any bare leg to her just to be safe, but I haven't really needed it. She is learning to behave properly. Thank goodness!

V....thank you for asking!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We have a lot in common, V. My Grandparents were essentially my parents from the time I was born until we moved to Northern California in 1959 when I was almost 9. Leaving them behind was like leaving my parents. I think that was the biggest reason I did not have a close relationship with my own parents.

Why does it have to be so stressful? I love my mom and no matter all the things that have happened between us, admire her and don't want to upset her. But I just can't continue to have to plan seperate events for the family, she is the only one with the problem....!
