I am an excessive planner. I am not happy unless I know what is going on, and when. Before I get in the car, I plan my route in my mind, and figure out the quickest way to get from A to B. The only surprises I like are the ones I plan for other people to surprise them.

Lack of planning gives me stress . . . unless someone else has planned it for me, and I don't have to worry. I would really like to do one of those "Adventures by Disney" trips sometime, since they plan everything so I can relax!

John,

I know I've said this before... but we are SO MUCH ALIKE!! I am at my most stressed when things are not planned!

the right one will come along soon, I am just happy to be in a relaxed work environment as far as hours, etc go.

I can appreciate that sentiment. I moved jobs 2 weeks ago, still within the same organisation but in a different building and no longer a personal secretary. I was very apprehensive, having been in the other job and 'in the thick of things' for over 6 years. But I'm already more relaxed and able to sleep better, and here I am on a Friday morning DIS-ing! :goodvibes

Off to the dentist this afternoon. :scared:

Should have gone in May but cancelled (in my defence, it was 2 days after my sister died). Have been putting it off ever since, but then DH had to go the other week because he broke a tooth, and he made my appointment while he was there.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Noel,

After reading your and your husband's comments on the ice breakers, I can't wait to meet you guys. I am just fascinated with gadgets and technology. If I would have had the mental engineering aptitude, I would have loved to do what your John does. I drive Amy quite crazy with my love of technology.

I tell my friends, some guys golf, or drink, or whatever - for me it is the love of gadgets and technology.

18. Which sports do you like to watch/play? I like almost all sports to watch!! Live for Olympics!! Winter and Summer!!

Karen[/COLOR]

OK Karen, another similarity - I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Olympics. Amy and I watch them exclusively when they are on. I can watch anything from curling to track and field. Someday I would love to see Kim's DD Savannah figure skate - maybe she will make the Olympics some day!

Carla (a friend on our thread from our last cruise) and I called ourselves twins. Maybe now we have a third for triplets.

Noel, pass this on to John for me, I'm not sure it he reads or you read info for him....

John:

I so agree with this idea. In spending the last 4 years with my parents walking them thru all their medical appointments, I so wish I had medical info from prior to my time (in both the date sense and responsibility sense) at my fingertips.

Just this last bout with my mom going thru her breast cancer issue, I so wish I had her prior mammogram and biopsy info as a resource that wouldn't have taken a search warrant and hours of phone work to get from her prior doctors.

Do you think this idea is in process somewhere in the valley?

okay, stepping off my soapbox, just got a bit excited there to have my passion (start-ups, software) with my real life of these days caring for my mother and her health concerns.

thanks for listening.

Nan

From John to Nan:

The leading advocate of what you are interested in is the Veterans Administration. There it has already happened and is being promoted by the UC Berkeley.

Your suggestion is one of the subjects we discussed in depth at the forum at Google we attended. Also, for example Camino Medical Group, they are offering patients online access to all their personal patient records.

Additionally with a national database, analysts could recognize health trends and send warnings/alerts to of impending ailments to medical communities and individuals.

I think the medical community will be hysterical about the access but it is going to happen.

John

Two quick comments. One from me to John and Amy. The only thing that is worse than one person crazy about gadgets and technology is TWO people crazy about gadgets and technology. We have a houseful of "stuff".

Another is about the Olympics. We love the summer and winter Olympics. The only one we ever went to is the 1984 LA Olympics which was the last Olympics you could buy season tickets. Season tickets meant you could sit in one seat for all the events for a particular sport such as swimming and diving including heats, trials and finals. We are thinking about going to China but the summer pollution is really making me hesitate.

I am flying out of town until Sunday to visit some friends. Will chat with everyone later.

Ciao for now.

Noel

morning all. I took the day off today. I am a bit worse than yesterday. I am going to pick up some more decongestants and try and sleep. The girls are home with me so that may be a bit hard!

Have a lovely weekend.:)

Sorry you feel worse V. Put the girls' favourite DVD on and try and relax.

I. Magnin expanded in Chicago and Washington D.C. areas in the 1970s.

I remember when I Magnin opened in DC. I went there several times to shop (that was back when I liked to shop:lmao: ). I remember it was so very nice. Almost too nice for me, as my lifestyle has always been pretty laid back. It did not last here very long.

Looks like it as yet. Having ben short all my life(:rotfl2: ) I would have loved to have been tall, blonde and slim!:lmao:

Yes, we're nuts!!:rotfl:

I have always been tall and blonde...not always slim......but before I married I was 5'9" and 100 pounds!! During marriage and pregnancy my weight doubled!! But I have it back in check now.....still not slim though. I am happy as a size 10.

As far as being nuts......it sure is fun, isn't it???

DH is 6'4" (6'3" if you ask him, but EVERYONE who meets him KNOWS better!)

Karen

I have a lot of height in my family. My bother is 6'7". Drew (my DNephew who lives on and off with us is 6' 8". Daniel is 6' 2".

Daniel told me when he left for college he weighed 217.5. He weighed himself this morning and he weighed 217 :thumbsup2 . No freshman 10 yet :cool1: :cool1:

This is the kind of story that I am talking about - just priceless. Thanks for sharing Kaylee.

So....I would say none of my "star meetings" have been typical:lmao: Lisa (calmom) since you mentioned KH being one of your favorites, I'll share this too....She lived in Old Saybrook, CT in a community called Fenwick. It was primarily a summer community (golf course, membership required, gated entry, etc) and my best friend in HS had her summer home there...just 5 miles down the road from where we usually lived. During the summers I would spend most of my time there...and we would have lots of "fun" at night! Katherine kept to herself mostly but she did not enjoy us being loud. So most nights, we were guarenteed a visit from her yelling at us to keep it down! It became a pattern. She was a very private woman and although I met her many times (some not in the best circumstances!:lmao: ) you never really felt like you met her. You could not get into the area without being let in by the guards so most sunny days boaters would try and pull up to the docks and get in that way to catch a glimpse of her or her home. It was crazy and showed me at a young age how little privacy famous people really get. :sad2:

Noel,

I have a black belt in shopping!!

I am also good at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!

Call me!!

Karen

Oh, I have a black belt in shopping too!!!! My favorite pastime. I should have put that down as what I am good at :lmao:

John

Medical records and patient access, there is something that frustrates me...I actually just got a bill in the mail yesterday from another doc for 100.00!!!:scared1: I was being charged for copies of my patients records. In the 10 years I have been in practice I have never charged for that. Needless to say, I will not be paying that bill. Our office has a very open policy on patients' access to their records but many docs fear the release of them due to concerns about malpractice. My larger HMO type facilities here have all lab tests on line, but not doctor's notes. I agree that it will happen, but before it can, there needs to be a uniform standard amongst all physicians. It is not possible for small single family practice docs like me to have a website will all my records on it like it is for the larger facilities. I looked into electronic charting and such, but it would cost me over $50,000 to get it up and running and right now that is just not possible.

V...hope you feel better soon!

Hope everyone has a great Friday and a fabulous weekend! We are off to the pumpkin patch today with my sister and niece!

Holly,

It's hard to believe at the moment, but this IS progress and steps in the right direction! It also should prove to you (though you should already know it as we do) that you are a good mom, and this is beyond both your and Tyler's control.

So start planning for your November trip! This should take your mind off of things!

Sending you lots of pixid dust pixiedust: and hugs:grouphug: !!

Karen
Thanks Karen!

V, I hope your'e able to get the rest you need this weekend to get better. Sleep is the only thing that will kick that bug!

My main boss is really sick, so congested that I could barely understand him when he was talking today. Awful! (I always get sick a few days after he does, so I'll be doing my best to fight it off). Because of his age, I always worry when he's sick, especially when his wife is out of town like she is now. Although he's difficult to work for, he's a very sweet old man. He asked about Tyler's upcoming appointment and today he told our office manager that she is NOT to penalize me or speak to me about missed time for anything related to all the appointments I'm bound to have for Tyler. Such a sweet old man!

Great news about being able to take off time to be there for Tyler! That must be a big relief. The appt is on Monday, right?

Yup. Monday morning at 8:15. So I'll be an hour late for work, but it's nice to know my boss is OK with it! He's the senior partner, so whatever he says goes. Great advantage of working for him.

Holly - that's wonderful to have such an understanding work environment. That is one thing I like about my employer. I can really come and go as needed providing I get all my work done.

I am feeling better, still stuffy but I managed to do a load of laundry, pick up the living room and go grocery shopping. I think once the medicine kicks in, I am ok but when it wears off....yikes!

John is home now so I think we are going to relax by the pool. It was a gorgeous day in the 80's...no game for the Gators tomorrow....and sadly one of our defensive backs - a walk on 19ys old died in a motorcycle crash last night. His passenger, I am assuming his girlfriend, was also killed. Neither were wearing a helmet. So sad.
