What time is she expected in?

She was supposed to get in at 8:30pm, but the flight still has not taken off from JFK. Storms all up and down the East Coast. I wish they had put her on an Air France flight right to Dulles, instead of taking her though JFK.

It is 2:30 am where her mom and dad are and they do not have internet access. They gave me the phone #. (They have a cabin in the mountains). I guess I should call them when I figure out what is going on. They wanted her to call as soon as she arrived with us.

What do you guys think?

I got that for John for his birthday. It is a BIG book!! Not sure he will have the interest to read it, but I also got one with historic photos and the story a lot simpler, and he enjoyed that. I will have a go reading it though.

What is the title and author of the book with the pictures?

Now it says FLIGHT CANCELLED. Vanessa just called and they are trying to get her on another flight. I don't think that will happen. What a terrible way to be introduced to the USA. She told me she called her mom and as soon as she knew something she would call back. She has been travelling now for 24 hours and 22 minutes. She must be tired.

Hi John! Congrtulations on the win!

Tonight we went to the game of the school Amy and I graduated from - they were playing a Detroit team, Detroit Pershing - because no one in the area out of the league will play them. At halftime it was 45-0 (our favor) so Alex and I came home to watch the Browns preseason game.

Browns up on Broncos 7-0 early in the game.

Looks like you guys had a good day. Jackie came to visit and had a little nap while I was reading...

MY DH COMES HOME TONIGHT. He left Islip-Long Island at 3:20 p.m. and so far all flights are on time and he should be here by 7:55p.m. my time. This is the longest time we've been apart - it just flew by. I'm excited to here all about his trip.

I too - wonder how Deb and Laura are... hopefully we will hear soon.

Have a great rest of the weekend - I have a feeling I'll be "unavailable" tomorrow...

Awww, that layover sounds awful. I'll be going right past there tonight on my way to NYC! Good luck getting your exchange student.

We have friends that flew out of JFK - they were on the Tarmac for THREE hours! We flew out of Laguardia - left on time and got home 15 minutes early! JFK is getting a new tower, and we were told it was a mess.

That would be him. I don't think he's cute though. His upper lip has a funky curl to it or something, so it doesn't come down over his top teeth, so it looks like he's always snarling or something.

Dang, that sounded mean! Didn't mean to sound that way.

Poor kid...as if 7 hours in JFK is not enough, the flight is at least an hour late taking off. I hope they don't cancel it....I guess she would sleep in the airport,

If I worked in a bookstore I'd have no money!! Luckily my mom and sister are both big readers too and we mostly share the same taste (except they will have nothing to do with my Stephen King books!) so we ship boxes of books back and forth (media mail is the way to go!).

Do you have a favorite type of book? I typically read cozy mysteries or Stephen King stuff (basically someone dies in every book I read and not from natural causes).

I'll admit it- I'm a fan of the cheesy romance novel. I figure it's like choclate for my brain...I've read some Stephen King, but I his columns in Entertainment Weekly, makes me want to read his books so much more....

actually, it's worse if you work in a bookstore. think about it- you go in once a month and there's tons of new stuff to read. If you work there for a while you've read all the backlist for your favorite authors and are desperately wating for something new...plus I get to check out hardcovers for free

That WDW vs. DLR post was really good - well written and informative. Thanks Marilyn for finding it!

I am going to visit DLR in November solo. I am taking the opportunity to attend an annual conference for pension trustees of multi-employer funds (I am a trustee on our fund) I thought this would be a good opportunity to get a "lay of the land" before the Magic takes us there for our brief stay.

Vanessa will stay in NY tonight and fly out at 7am to Reagan instead of Dulles. Glad it is Sunday...

All the hotels were sold out as everything cancelled out of JFK. She called an emergengy # and a supervisor was going to pick her up at JFK and get her back in the morning for the 7am flight.

She will be exhausted.
