Well, it was supposed to be a "family fun" tour...2 1/2 hours with Tessie (a dinosaur that looked like Dorothy the dino from the Wiggles). It was meant to informational, which is was, but the speaker system was lousy and you couldn't hear anything, and 2 1/2 hours with kids is too long. We thought with Tessie there, it would make it more fun for them, but Tessie came around just once, so there went that thrill. It was also hot that day and we were on the upper deck (it was an old fashioned paddle boat, like you find in New Orleans). The sights were beautiful, but like my friend said who was with us, when our kids are happy, we're happy and when our kids are unhappy, boy are we all unhappy!

Boy, is THAT phrase ever true. Nothing can make a parent more unhappy, more quickly, than an unhappy child!

Mark has a removable brace now which is great....but he did find his wrist really hurt in Tahoe and we're thinking it could have been the altitude (???)...that's all we could come up with....we were at about 7300 feet or so. I'm already out of shape but boy at that alt. I really felt winded the first day or so. We were all laughing about how we all needed to get some exercise because after lugging our luggage into the house (it was three stories) we were huffing and puffing making our way for the couches!!!! (We went with another family, so there were 8 of us...4 adults, 4 kids.)
How disappointing for you all about the boat ride. :sad2: I certainly can relate to the comment about how if your kids are unhappy, you're unhappy. So true!

Hi everyone...

Happy Dad's Day to every dad on our list! :cool1:

Although I have been reading, haven't had a moment to post recently.

Holly...your pics were great. Looked like you guys had a blast. The beach picture was wonderful.

Lisa...sounds like you had a great vacation as well. The family pic on the boat is a great one!

The africam...I have watched it on and off and seen some great things, but the last 2 days all I see is a green screen :sad2:

Lost kitties....here's some more good wishes that they find their ways home soon.

We went house hunting yesterday and it was horrible. That house we are hoping to get comes up on the 29th, so we wanted to see other houses in the price range to make sure we still liked it. The price of houses here is outrageous and privacy isn't heard of anymore :sad2: So, we decided we are either going to luck out at auction on the 29th or start upgrading our current home.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Last year, we saw them twice in one week. The second time, some Hillbillys were different, and they did different songs and routines.

Anyone remember the can-can girls and Pecos Bill?

Woody

Yup!

What about Woody's Round-up? You should remember that one... Woody!

Ages - 9, 7, 4, and 1 1/2. Our town actually had an article written in the Wall Street Journal about how many of the families that live here have 4 kids. I guess a little Utah in California! While I was pregnant, another mom from school was pregnant as well. She had a 3 year old and 1 year old. Ended up she was pregnant with triplets! So 5 kids under 4 - can you imagine??? No fertility drugs I think....just good old fashion triplets!
Lisa

Yeah... sure... good Ol' Fashioned Triplets...

Just shoot me now!!!

Karen

Love the pictures. With three cabin boys, now you know why I became a pirate. It was either a pirate captain or a drill sargent. Pirate just sounded like more fun.;) Plus I get to play dress up.pirate: Makem walk the plank!

Oh, here's a funny picture to enjoy. It's a picture of my corgis. I shaved them for the summer.

Were these short-haired corgis? I didn't know that they needed to be shaved!!

No wonder you got an evil eye! Of course, when they're nice and cool this summer they'll thank you... really they will!

Karen

Wow,I have never known this threadto be so quiet!!!

Happy Father's Day to you dad's.

Yes,all mothers are amazing!! But,she went above and beyond, particularly if hubby doesn't help!

Endkaos - your corgis are cute. Our Queen has always had corgis so you are in good company!!! We don't seem to see many around these days.

We are off on a week's holiday to Madeira tomorrow, a Portugese island just into the Atlantic. Gooing to an airport hotel later as we have to check in by 5.30am and we are a couple of hours away from the airport!! It's John's 60th birthday on Wednesday so we will have a nice meal out.

See you a week on Monday.:)

Hope all you poorly people are well by the time I am back.

Marilyn,

I am a bit behind, so you probalby won't get this before you leave, but have a super great trip!!

Karen

hi guys, thought I'd check in to see what's up!

holly, glad to hear you had a good time in Fla.

Has anyone else seen Spamalot? We went to see it on friday night, it was absolutely hilarious, if you're a python fan I definitely reccomend it!

I'm listening to the new save Darfur cd- all covers of John Lennon songs, it's not bad, but who had the bright idea of letting Aerosmith sing "Give Peace a Chance"?!?! they might just have ruined the song for me, took all the honesty and earnestness out of the song.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads. I'm off to start the first night of two weeks of overnights at work...

Hi Kari,

We saw Spam-a-lot in New York City and LOVED it!! My DD listens to the soundtrack all the time! "Always look on the bright side of life" is my motto!!

Aerosmith (and others) did give peace a chance at the Grammy's (I think) and DH and I just rolled our eyes at how awful it was. It is not an easy song to sing, and not terribly melodic. Poor choice for anyone but Lennon!!

Karen

Meant that as a compliment to Lennon, by the way...

Africam is back up! Sorry John, I didn't expect so many people to get hooked!:rolleyes1 Welcome back LiserAnn!

Hey been2marcilene! Did you check out the coolest "waterhole " video ever? Water buffalo are the new king of the jungle!

I think it was down all day. People get pretty ticked off on the Africam forum when this happens! Like they're paying for it or something!:confused3 I swear, some people! By the way, don't mean to be an Africam snob or anything:rotfl2: but those are impalas, not gazelles.:thumbsup2

Thanks! Only caught a glimps as I had to get back on my work website!

Thanks again!

when our kids are happy, we're happy and when our kids are unhappy, boy are we all unhappy!.)

that is for sure! We are the same way with Patrick(DS), if he's happy, we have a good time, if he's grouchy, or cranky or bored, then we don't. My husband didn't have a good tome on the Carnival Med. cruise because he didn't want to take Patrick on any of the excursions, because he thought Pat would get tired/bored/grumpy. So they had WAAAAY too much time on the ship. Actually that was ok with Pat because he loves to just listen to his headphones and watch the water. Chuck (DH):happytv: needs a little more stimulation than that!

Hey, Gydell, guess what? My 17 year old won our town pageant! Oh, and

um, we're booked for this cruise! Can't wait to see you and Betsy again!

GREAT! It will be so good to see you again! When did you book? What cabin? Are all 8 kids going? Betsy and I were just talking about you last week.

Congrats to your daughter!
