Kaylee, either you are very brave or crazy...did you have a baseball bat in hand? Thank all goodness that nothing further happened. It could have been some kids playing with garage door openers, but how did the light go on? Too scarry!

We used to have these pineapples on the end of our four poster bed, I would pull one off every time I had to investigate. I bet I would have scared a lot of burglers with my pineapples!

My MIL's 80th birthday party was a huge success:goodvibes It was held at my SIL's and was a surprise. We all told her it was a wedding shower for my DD (it actually WAS supposed to be a shared birthday/shower day but someone else had already planned a shower that night for my DD so we just stuck to the birthday) . My MIL took her gift for my DD over to my SIL's a week in advance and kept telling everyone all about the shower LOL. So she was expecting all of the out of town relatives and friends. etc but what a surprise for her when she walked in and we all yelled "Happy Birthday" :rotfl2:
We all helped out by bringing "potluck" and had a wonderful day together.

GREAT idea....perhaps we will make this an idea for my mom's 80th in August.

Hey you guys..............

My taxes are NOT doen yet....and it's all your fault!

So yesterday, when heading out to dinner I realized I didn't have a book to read, so I stopped at the bookstore and bought Time Traveler's Wife. So guess what I've been most of the day!

....actually....

the taxes are all ready to go, just have to punch in the numbers on the form and hit submit. Was about to do that when I noticed our post count, so that's I'd hang around and see if there's any excitment...

thanks, I didn't even notice the number, I'll ramble to add it up....

Oh, dear. I've been away for a few days and now I'm really, really behind. About 150 pages, I think. Did I miss anything good?

Thursday morning I was on my way out to the car in the garage to go to work. I loaded a bunch of stuff in the car because we were going camping that afternoon. Well, on my final trip out, I noticed I forgot to turn off the light, so I jump back up on the 2nd step, opened the door, turned off the light, and turned to go down the steps and to the car. Well, I guess I lost my balance or footing or whatever, but I fell onto my right side, hard, really hard. Thank goodness I didn't hit my head, I was able to stop that with my right arm. However, I did do some damage to my right ankle. I laid there for a good 20 minutes before I could even think about getting up. But I managed to get myself back into the house, the phone, and a chair. Called my husband at work and he finally got to the house about 2 hours later. Seems his boss would not let him leave until he was finished doing what he was doing. Even though she knew he had an emergency. Jeezzzz, for all she knew I could have still be laying on the garage floor. Anyway, we tossed around going to the doctor or the emergency room and finally decided we would just wrap it and try to go on with our camping plans. We made it to Moses Lake later that evening and I was hurting but not horribly. Next morning however was different. I was hurting pretty bad by that time. The next moring, Saturday, I was in horrible pain. On a scale from 1-10 it was a 10. :scared: So we decided to leave. We dropped off my parents and their RV, picked up our car and headed for the emergency room. They gave some percuset (sp?) and took some xrays. Turns out it is a severe sprain on both sides of my ankle. No break or fracture they could see. Doctor ordered me completely off of it for a week. They gave me an ace bandage, a boot, crutches, and a note for my boss. I'm sure he will be very pleased when he reads my email that I will be working from home all of next week. So, that's my sad, sad story. Enough rambling.

Did I miss anything the last 4 or 5 days?

Tina

OMG! Glad it wasn't broken, but it still sounds like it hurt. Can't believe your DH's boss, that is crazy! Take care and remember "RICE" (rest, ice, compression and elevate!).

I hear CHOCOLATE helps too! (Ingested, not applied!)

DH is in NYC today and he said it has been snowing horribly all day. Flights cancelled, TIMES SQUARE IS SLOW!

DH is in Savannah, GA and says they are without power. He says the winds are absolutely crazy.....How is everyone else on the East coast doing? Was your DH trying to get home?

I hated cutting my kids hair too. Must be a Mom thing. The plus with having kids in a University in California is that it is easier for them to come home during holidays!! The minus for having kids in University is the "extra" costs!!

You guys are giving me heart failure with all this university cost talk. DD is going to put me in the poor house with her skating costs. We are already at 5 days a week on the ice + competition costs, hotels, and can I just tell you how much skates cost every few months when her feet grow? And now I have to save more than my retirement for the university. Anyone know how to rob a bank?

DD has a friend who is a skater....her mom was telling me they spend over 5000.00 per month in rink fees, lessons, costumes etc.
:scared1: She loves to skate though. The mom finally pulled her from school this year to home school her (after she had fallen asleep in class almost every day from getting up at 4am). Does it make you nervous to watch her skate/compete? Just watching it in the olympics makes me so nervous, I couldn't even imagine if it were my daughter...I think I would be looking through my fingers!

No, he got there at midnight saturday night, so watched it snow all day. A lot of the people who are flying in to attend the conference may have problems.

My mom's home office is in Mamoroneck, NY and they have already cancelled their day tomorrow since their is no power or phone! (Of course, since Mom is out here, she still has to work!)

She loves to skate. She is very shy and one day I asked her why she liked competing. She said she is really nervous until she gets on the ice, then she said it goes away and everything is fun! If you could see her smile while she is skating, compared to any other sport, dancing, gymnastics, swimming, anything, it's just different. She just turned 7, but people are telling us that many parents take thier kids out of school and that there are 10 year olds skating for 4-6 hours a day. I really don't know how long that would be fun for her.

As for watching her, the first time was cake. I was just so proud of my shy child for skating out there in front of those judges I just cried. She was so nervous, her little legs just shook. She got 5th place. The second time, all I wanted was for her to to better than the first time. So, I was a little sick to my stomach, and was too nervous to take pictures, but I watched. She won. 1st Place. Last time, I wanted to drug myself into oblivion for 3 days before. I was so upset I could not even watch. I forced myself to watch her and I was just sick all day. She made one error and got 2nd, and she was fine! I was a wreck! No way did I want her to know any of this, so I faked it. She has spring show in 2 weeks. Not a big deal, no judging, then we start skate season again. She has a really big competition in Sun Valley this year, and can I tell you how much those rooms are :scared1:. I figure if I am still totally wacked at the May competition I am going to ask my Dr. for something to turn me into a normal mom. So yes, it makes me nervous, but I am so proud of her!!!!! Really, she has worked with professionals at the university because she was so shy as a 3-4 year old. She has come a long way!!!! And, she skates WAY better than me! I love watching her spin.

;)
I had to give up on the butter, but you can't beat it! I like it thick!!!:lmao:

Our friend's mother is over 101 and still lives on her own in a small old house with steep steps up to her bedroom and bathroom!! She still goes out shopping and walks to the church. Up to a few years ago she still did cross stitch.:)

My mom's aunt turned 101 this past year. Still lives alone, does her own gardening, etc. My mom is 81 and very spry also. Good stock, I guess. ;)

Well that sounds fun! Maybe we should keep thinking about it...although it is really expensive. Lisa

My children are 35 and 29 now and they both remember the trip fondly. We were moving from CA to OR and DH had come up 6 weeks before us. We had to wait for school to be out, he had to get to the new job if he wanted it. It was a challenging trip because it was a 29 hour trip and we could not get a sleeper. Food was also a challenge as there was 1 dining car that sat 60 people and there were 600 people on the train. :confused3 We managed though and we laughed and saw beautiful country and they got to experience riding a train and eating in a dining car. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

OUCH!! Aren't those boots wonderful though? Who ever invented them has my undying devotion!!

DH is gold medallion and I am only silver medallion. Last week when we were flying home from Vegas, we bought uber cheap seats because it is so short and using our miles is a waste on that short of flight. Anyway, DH got upgraded due to his "status" and I did not. Nice huh! He was in first class and I was in coach. Met some really nice people who thought it was hysterical though! They actually paged DH on the plane and told him to move. He stood up and left and in about 16 seconds someone came in with his seat.

:lmao: Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode! :rotfl:
