We went to see Meet the Robinsons last night. The whole family enjoyed it and we will probably go again. I love William Joyce, so it was great to see his artistry come to life on the screen. Also, the film pays homage to Walt Disney in a few ways (I won't provide any spoilers). And they showed a classic Disney cartoon prior to the feature. :thumbsup2 I've been less than thrilled with Disney's animated movies the past few years (Chicken Little? Ugh), except for Pixar. This film gave me some hope.

Hubby and I saw it last Friday and loved it! I told my sister she needed to take my nephews 8 and 6. Great for them cuz there's nothing really scarey or suspenseful. They seem to be very sensitive to those right now.

Pardon my post if this has been asked before, but this thread is so long already....

Is there a a thread for tweens/early teens cruisers for the Ship of Theives? I have a current 13 yo DS and almost 12 yo DS and a 10 yo DS who would benefit from chatting with others.

Thanks in advance.

Great to hear it's a good movie! I wanted to take Tyler to it, but was waiting to see what people said how it would be for little kids. :thumbsup2 And he's dying to see Firehouse Dog too, so we'll probably see that first, then Meet the Robsinsons next time.

Slow night, and I am calling it a night guys.

Need some sleep!

Night all!

Does anyone have experience with Travel insurance?

We are doing the 7-28-2007 11 night MED. I have never bought trip insurance. I am worried about our flight over. We get in the day the ship leaves. I did not buy my air though Disney, so if we do the Disney insurance, it will not cover my air, which is the part I am worried about. We are a party of 10 traveling together.

I went to insuremytrip.com and I got totally overwhelmed. Any suggestions?

As you know, I am traveling with my HOKIE son on our cruise. We got his graduation pictures. His HS graduation is 6-18-2007.

So that is 10 in a normal year, 11 in Presidential Inauguration year and then extras such as ex Presidents' deaths.

We basically have 8, but I think we have more normal vacation days than you do, though they vary greatly with the jobs folk do, with University lecturers probably coming out best and teachers next. John was a teacher so I can say that!!:rotfl:

Keep in mind the average person only gets 5 or 6 of those days actually off. Unless you work for the bank or post office.

My health is fine but have had some family issues related to inheritance etc. to deal with the lawyers and my surviving siblings etc. We had to deal with some issues regarding my deceased sister's surving son which were not properly handled in my father's trust. Resolution is not what we wanted but my father did not want to pay large legal fees so many of the contingencies that are in my DH and my personal trust were not covered in my father's trust.

Needless to say, it sure would have been less expensive in the long run if my father would have spent the money on the front end with my lawyer instead of the one he used really did not even want to administer the trust. My sister made eleven phone calls to her after my father's death which were not returned. Her only response was an acknowledgement of the transfer via letter from the new trust attorney of the transfer.

Lesson learned by my siblings is making a very basic trust with an attorney who makes basic trusts without considering ramfications has cost our family several hundred thousand dollars in legal and tax fees. Basic mistake the attorney made is not properly advising us to deal with the issues of money and property that my sisters minor son would inherit as a minor in the year before my fathers death.

On top of that stressful situation, I had to help my middle DD by taking care of her children while they deal with some medical issues related to her husband. With that and Easter this weekend, I may be on and off the computer through the weekend.

I adore my attorney, so this is not a bash, he would be the first to tell you that you will pay all lot more for bad advice than a good attorney from the outset.

Tonight is the service of the crucifixion at church.

One of the most moving hymns is sung tonight as the priest carries a cross around the church in a procession, while chanting the hymn that is at this link:

http://www.newbyz.org/todayishung.pdf

Twelve Gospel readings are read tonight detailing the passion, and after the Gospel of the crucifixion, the congregation files up to the cross (which is about 1/3 life size, with Christ on it) and lights a candle and venerates the cross.

I probably mentioned this already, but the Orthodox Church is often called the church of the Resurrection, and our word for Easter is Pascha, which in Greek means Passover.

Hope you are all enjoying the Greek Orthodoxy lessons!

Actually, I quite enjoy it. It is a religion/culture I am woefully ignorant of. Other than my big fat greek wedding, you are my only source of true Greek culture.

If you want more, pm me.

Thank you very much. I will have DH start with those (did I mention I don't cook at all!:lmao: ) Have you made any of them? They all sounded so good.

We are staying at OKW 5/13-5/19!!! We just miss you at OKW....!

Well, maybe we will see you around the parks. I forgot we actually check out of OKW on monday (14) to head north to see BIL and SIL in Jacksonville for 2 days. Are you going somewhere special for Mother's Day when you arrive? I didn't make any ADR's so I figure I will just end up eating in the condo or maybe at Bongo's again. I am sure most the places for brunches are already booked.

I used insuremytrip both times and used the side-by-side comparison feature. I just picked the $ amount of my whole trip (air, hotel, cruise) and did it for that amount plus a hefty $250,000 (or more) for emergency medical evacuation.

I have read posts recently regarding airlline issues. There are some issues with missing your cruise do to delayed flight. Do read up on the air portion, because MOST only cover CANCELLED flights or shut down airports as a reason for missing your cruise. If your flight is delayed due to mechanical reasons and you miss the ship and decide NOT to try and make the ship at a later port, there could be issues. I know there were a couple of recent threads on folks who missed the ship and had some problems. If I find it, I'll come back and post a link for your. Plus maybe some of our cruisemates will have a better (clearer!) understanding of the best things to look for in trip insurance.

1/2 pounds cleaned squid (about 3 pounds whole) tentacles separated from the bodies, rinsed and patted dry
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons fresh oregano leaves
2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
8 new potatoes, cut in 1/2
1 small loaf focaccia bread, sliced
Green and Nicoise olives, pitted and chopped
Essence
Chopped parsley, garnish
Lemon wedges, garnish

Cut the squid bodies along the sides to open flat. With a thin sharp knife, lightly score the insides, being careful not to cut through all the way.

In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, garlic, salt, and red pepper flakes. Add the squid bodies and tentacles, toss to coat, and marinate for 2 hours, refrigerated, turning twice.

Preheat the grill to high heat.

Cook potatoes in boiling salted water until tender. Drain and set aside.

With a pastry brush, lightly coat both sides of the sliced bread with the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil. Place the bread on the hot grill and cook until golden brown on both sides, 2 to 4 minutes. Arrange on a large platter.

Grill the squid, turning until opaque, slightly golden, and just cooked through, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the squid to a cutting board and slice into strips. Slice the tentacles if desired.

Place the squid on top of the grilled bread and top with the chopped olives. Arrange potatoes decoratively around squid. Lightly drizzle with additional extra virgin olive oil as desired, sprinkle with Essence and parsley, and serve with the lemon wedges on the side.

Yield: 4 to 6 appetizer portions

Noel and Kaylee,

I asked DH for his favorite recipe and he has two:

1) Grab the car keys and head to Lucas Wharf in Bodega Bay and have their amazing Calamari with garlic and butter!!

2) Place the fresh squid on a hook, toss in the ocean, and catch a Yellowtail Tuna!! (Hamachi!) Of course, you have to TRAVEL to do this!

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Well, they did catch over 150# of tuna on that trip as well, not sure if they used squid for the bait though! When we were sailfish fishing in Ziehuatenejo DH caught a small fish and asked our guide what kind it was and he said "bait":lmao: Never did find out what kind it was but it did catch DH a nice 9 foot sailfish.
