Has anyone every flown into Tampa vs Orlando??

We just decided to do such for our cruise in October.

Lowest airfare into Orlando was $1556 for our family of four.

Found a perfect flight into Tampa at $742. Went ahead and purchased these tickets. Saw that it is about a 75 minute drive to Orlando.

Was this a bad move or actually smart??

I don't know about Tampa airport . . . but if you could save over $800  , I would say that is pretty smart! We have driven from Tampa to Orlando - a long time ago. Not a terrible drive. V does it all the time from the same area.

Man, the GS fans are CRAZY!

That's my MOM!! She was so excited this morning at brunch to be going. One of the ushers has given her "special" pins only made for ushers. My dad said in a somewhat joking manner it is because she keeps flirting with him. I bet they are having a blast. 88-89 now. So close! Lisa

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there!!!

We had a nice day today...went to brunch at a nice restaurant here in town. It's new and very good. My mother-in-law loved it and she also had a nice time.

Yesterday we went wine tasting in nearby Temecula for a friend's birthday. She rented a Mercedes limo bus. It was a ton of fun. My favorite winery was was Leonesse (http://www.leonessecellars.com/). They had a wonderful White Merlot, which is a type of wine I've never had before. We tried it later in the day at several other wineries but Leonesse had the best one. I also enjoyed their Muscat Canelli. I'm normally not a sweet wine person, but I really enjoyed it. Maybe it was my mood...who knows but it was yummy. Their port was also good, which they served with the most delicious truffle I'd ever had. I'm ready to go back!!! Their winery was in the most beautiful setting. I could have stayed there all day!

Here are some pics:

We have a wine club there and it is our favorite. We aren't sweet wine drinkers either but we love the white merlot and muscat. If you like red wine they have a really good one called Three. It is smooth, unlike most reds. We know the wine maker also but that is not why we like the wine. It just has a different atmosphere. We have a few other clubs also but we love everything about Leonesse.

Don't even THINK about not coming, Jonh1. :scared: How will Elasto Boy survive this without Capt. Spanx to guide him? Dennis got a new job as a pharmacy manager at a store with a no Thanksgivig thru Jan vacation rule, but he told them right up front that we had a Dec cruise planned for months and they got approval from personnel for him to be gone. Stupid rule for pharmacy anyway, people do NOT buy more drugs because it is Christmas shopping season. :confused3
You've never had to go shopping with my mom! Need drugs....lots and lots of drugs to do that! :rotfl: Or maybe the husbands need drugs to get through those all day shopping trips with the wives! :lmao:

Yes, they are officially on their way to a new home where they will be worn by the lovely and talented HOLLY...who will wear them in comfort, good health and SAFTEY :thumbsup2
:woohoo: :yay: Can't wait! BUT, you never told me how much postage to send me! Well, I'll obviously be able to figure that out. WOOHOO! My poor black Mary Jane Crocs will be happy to get a rest! ;)

Lovely and talented? Hmmm.....you haven't seen a picture of me yet! :rotfl2: And talented? I'll have to ponder that one. Talented at not tripping and falling when wearing Crocs? Sorry.....I'm just OVER-TIRED and getting goofy! :rotfl:

SMART! I've actually flown into Tampa on about 40% of my trips out to WDW. The drive is pretty much a straight shot, but can be slow in spots if you hit rush hour out of Tampa or any construction. You are flying in the day before right? Are you going to WDW that night or on to PC? Doesn't really matter, but if you are going on to PC you might want to make sure there is no shuttle/rocket launch that afternoon. Are you taking the flight that gets in Tampa 4PMish? If so shuttle wouldn't impact you then.

ok...back to catching up..

Lisa W. & Deb: Great pics! Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

Here's our day: Went out of town to my mom's, visited at her house for about an hour, then headed to lunch. My mom let Tyler pick the place, so we ate at a pizza buffet. Stopped to visit an aunt for a bit to help her with a little yard work and hauling stuff out to the road for trash pickup. Said goodbye to my mom, headed to my dad & stepmom's, Tyler had a blast playing games with his grandpa, visited a couple hours there, managed to stay awake for the long drive home, and now I'm about to head to sleep. Tomorrow morning should be interesting because Tyler wasn't asleep until close to 10pm because of how late we got home. If he's not asleep before 8pm, I can't get him up on time in the morning. Then he's grumpy all day from lack of sleep and ends up misbehaving all day. Maybe I'll just let him sleep until he wakes up on his own, call work & tell them I'll be a bit late, and not worry about it. :thumbsup2

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the mothers here!

Enjoyed the pictures today! Deb, your John looks like he has a little devilment popping out of those eyes! Glad you had a nice day. Lisa, looks like you had a great time today too! Now I'll be able to recognize you and your DH next week ::yes::

Holly, there's no way I'm going to let you pay me for postage when it took me MONTHS to send them to you! You can buy me a DOD :drinking1 if you want.

Can I just say, I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!!

Great pictures everybody . . .

I spent the day otuside - mowing, edging, weeding, powerwashed the deck, furniture and the house, and then played some frisbee with Alex while the dog chased.

After that, had to go and pick up Sophia halfway to Toledo (we had a nice cookout for the three of us before that) and just got home. I'm bushed!

Watching the GS/Utah game.

When I compare watching this series to the Cavs/Nets series, it's like I am not even watching the same sport. These two teams RUN so much! Exciting Basketball.

Hve to tell you Kim, Carlos Boozer is not a fav around here. He stabbed the Cavs in the back when they could have locked him in for much less money. He went back on his word to go to Utah for even more $$$. He gets BOOOED every time he comes here now.

GO JAZZ!!! Does Derick Fischer make up for Carlos? He was on the injured list so long, I forgot where he came from. Derick is nice, so is kerilinko (sp?), and Coach Sloan is pretty cool!

Man, the GS fans are CRAZY!

Yes they are. I felt bad for them tonight. I hate getting let down like that! But I really want Coach Sloan to get a ring and I want Derick Fischer to be done with the series so he can be with his family.

See now I feel bad for your mom!

Can I just say, I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!!

Thank you! It's funny...you know how everyone has something that's their positive trait? Some people have a great figure or pretty eyes, etc. Well, all my life, people comment on my hair....which I have always taken for granted. It's super thick and can drive me nutso sometimes. When I was younger and had long hair, I'd see these girls whip their hair up into a french twist like that! Well I was never able to "whip it up"...I'd break most clips because it's so thick. But now that I'm older, I'm able to appreciate it...so thank you very much for the compliment.

Not sure if you guys are following the live Med trip report thread but the person writing it stated that there are 1900 people on board....300 of that are kids and 400 are cast members! I was hoping that would be our situation but since we're already sold out and they never did....it doesn't look super promising for us. I think our kid count will be low though.

It is beautiful Cheri. We have stopped off for a walk around Sedona and of course the drive through the canyon(Red Rock? Can't remember the name but the top route out towards Flagstaff). We haven't stayed over though. It is stunning. Also once after leaving the Grand Canyon we went up to the N. Rim and then to Kings and Bryce Canyons, down to Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelle and back to Flagstaff calling in at the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. We enjoyed it so much. We ended with 5 relaxing days in Scottsdale to recover!

Now I want to do it all over again.

You've seen more than I have! I haven't been to Bryce Canyon, but hope to someday. The canyon you're thinking of in Sedona is Oak Creek Canyon. Very beautiful! I went to Northern AZ Univ. in Flagstaff, graduated in 1971. I loved living in Flagstaff. One of my sisters lives in Sedona, so I get over there every so often.

Jackie, it's genetic....DH gets that from his dad. Plus he was dressed cruise casual and looked like he was ready to get on the boat! .....hmmmm.....think he's got a little mickey on his mind!?! He was wearing a mickey pin on his lapel and his hat was bought on board. I think he can't wait either!!!
