I know, I know. You just know how some of us parents are.I quickly got over any feelings of inadequacy. Midway thru the year a lightbulb
went on and bam, he was reading like he'd never had a problem. Every child seems to come into their own at their own pace. And we just love reading aloud. DS is in third grade now and we still read chapter books aloud each night. He loves the more complex stories that are just a little too difficult for him to plow thru on his own. And it's also our special cuddling time. Don't know how much longer that will last.

What you described above was the main reason I loved teaching first grade! They went from "not knowing" to "knowing" in so many ways during that year!
Enjoy that cuddling time! You and your son are blessed!
